Truck crane KS-35714 “Ivanovets” with a lifting capacity of 16 tons. mounted on an all-terrain chassis Ural 5557-1152-72E5 with a 6x6 wheel arrangement. The crane is designed for loading and unloading operations in difficult terrain.
Boom equipment
The boom equipment ensures the operation of the hook suspension in the working area of the KS-35714-2 crane and consists of the following main components:
- telescopic boom,
- hook suspension,
- boom lift hydraulic cylinder,
- cargo rope.
The combination of blocks in the boom head KS-35714-2 and the hook suspension together with the cargo rope form a pulley. The crane pulley can be six-fold or single-fold.
The main pulley is six-fold. A single-use pulley is necessary for operating a crane with replaceable boom equipment.
When reeving the rope once, the main hook suspension is replaced with an additional one, which is located in a pocket on the boom support stand.
The KS-35714 truck crane has the ability to mount replaceable boom equipment—a jib—on a telescopic boom. The jib and auxiliary hook suspension are not included in the crane package, but are supplied upon special order.
Modifications of the KS-35714 truck crane
Truck crane KS-35714 “Ivanovets”
The KS-35714 “Ivanovets” truck crane with a lifting capacity of 16 tons is installed on a Ural-5557 all-terrain vehicle chassis with a 6x6 wheel arrangement.
The drive mechanism of the KS-35714 truck crane is hydraulic from a pump, which is driven by the chassis motor. The hydraulic drive ensures ease and simplicity of crane control, smooth operation of mechanisms, variability of operating speeds, and combination of crane operations.
A microprocessor-based load limiter with digital information display allows you to monitor the degree of loading of the crane, the length and reach of the boom, and the lifting height of the head. It shows the actual weight of the load on the hook of the truck crane and the maximum lifting capacity at a given reach. Also, the microprocessor automatically determines the working area using specified coordinates if loading is required in cramped conditions.

The KS-35714 truck crane is equipped with the necessary safety devices: a load limiter, a crane parameter recorder, limit switches, an azimuth sensor, a sound and light warning alarm, a coordinate protection system when working in cramped conditions, an emergency engine shutdown from the crane operator's cabin and an alarm system when parts of the crane are approaching to power lines.
Controls and instrumentation are located in the driver's cab, in the crane operator's cab and on the rear cross member of the crane support frame.
The functions of the controls of the KS-35714 truck crane include:
— monitoring and control of the crane in transport position; — bringing the crane into working position from the transport position and from the transport position to the working position; — monitoring and control of the crane during crane operations.
Controls and instruments on the support frame
The following controls are located on the rear transverse beam of the support frame of the KS-35714 Ivanovets crane based on the Ural-5557 chassis:
— three-way valve with handle; — tilt angle indicator; — hydraulic distributor handles.
The three-way valve is designed to switch the flow of working fluid. When the handle of the three-way valve is retracted, the flow of working fluid is directed from the pump to a hydraulic distributor mounted on the turntable, and when it is extended, to the hydraulic distributor on the support frame.
The tilt angle indicator is necessary to determine the tilt angle of the KS-35714 truck crane when installing it on outriggers.
The hydraulic distributor is used to control the four outriggers.
When the hydraulic distributor handle is moved from the neutral to the lower position, all outriggers of the crane are simultaneously extended, and when moved to the upper position, all outriggers are simultaneously retracted.
When the handles are moved from the neutral to the lower position, the hydraulic support rods extend, and when they are moved to the upper position, these rods are retracted.
The hydraulic distributor device allows for simultaneous extension (retraction) of the rods of several hydraulic supports.
Controls and instruments in the crane operator's cab
The controls and instrumentation of the KS-35714 crane are installed in the crane operator's cabin:
- dashboard; — load limiter mounted on the instrument panel; — two joysticks for controlling crane operations; — chassis engine control pedal when operating in crane mode; — crane angle indicator (inclinometer); — windshield wiper control keys; — regulator of the heating installation (cabin heating system).
An electronically controlled pedal is installed on the floor of the crane operator’s cabin, which regulates the engine speed of the Ural-5557 chassis of the Ivanovets truck crane when operating in crane mode.
With its help, the required engine speed is set when performing crane operations, controlled by a tachometer on the instrument panel.
The windshield wiper control keys in the crane operator's cabin turn the lower and upper windshield wipers on and off, respectively.
On the right console of the crane operator's seat there is a heating control regulator, which turns on the heater and sets a comfortable temperature in the crane operator's cabin.
An inclinometer is installed in the front part of the crane operator's cabin next to the door, which allows you to control the angle of inclination of the crane when performing crane operations.
On the instrument panel in the KS-35714 crane operator’s cabin there are:
— chassis engine coolant temperature indicator; — oil pressure indicator in the chassis engine; — tachometer; — landing gear engine stop button; — block for displaying load limiter information; — hook suspension tightening switch; — fan switch; — cabin lighting switch; — hook light switch; — site lighting switch; — instrument switch for truck crane KS-35714; — instrument lighting switch; — oil filter contamination indicator.
Switches, buttons and indicators have symbolic signs that do not require special explanation. The switch turns on the electrical equipment of the KS-35714 Ivanovets truck crane based on the Ural-5557 chassis and starts the load limiter.
The gauges, tachometer and button together with the engine control pedal allow the crane operator to control the operation of the chassis engine. The switches control the lighting, and the switch controls the fan.
The crane operator's cabin has a stationary adjustable chair equipped with left and right joysticks to control crane operations. The right joystick is used to control the reach change mechanism and the lift mechanism.
When moving the joystick in the longitudinal direction toward you, the hook suspension is lifted using the lifting mechanism of the KS-35714 truck crane, and when the joystick is moved away from you, the hook suspension is lowered.
The speed of raising and lowering is determined by the amount of deviation of the joystick from the neutral position. To enable accelerated lifting and lowering, there is a button to enable this mode on the right joystick.
When moving the joystick in the transverse direction, the reach changes - the angle of the boom changes due to its raising or lowering.
Deflection of the joystick to the right leads to a decrease in the angle of inclination of the boom relative to the horizon, and movement of the joystick to the left leads to an increase in the angle of inclination of the boom.
The speed of raising and lowering the boom KS-35714 is determined by the amount of deflection of the joystick in the direction corresponding to the operation being performed.
The left joystick is used to control the rotation mechanism and telescoping mechanism of the boom sections.
When the joystick is moved in the transverse direction, the rotating part of the crane rotates. The direction and speed of rotation depend on the amount of movement of the joystick to the left or right.
When you move the joystick in the longitudinal direction away from you, the sections are extended by the boom telescoping mechanism. Moving the joystick towards you in the longitudinal direction leads to the retraction of the KS-35714 boom sections.
The telescoping speed of the boom sections is determined by the amount of joystick deviation from the neutral position. There is a button in the handle of the left joystick to turn on the warning sound signal that sounds when the crane is operating.
