At the same time, the power plant weighs no more than 1.18 tons, and the power indicators are higher than the standard model. These units operate in four-stroke mode, are equipped with six cylinders and consume diesel fuel. Transmission, chassis
The power transmission of the bulldozer is represented by a reliable transmission of a new design. It includes: a three-element single-stage torque converter, a 6-speed gearbox, final drives, and rotary clutches.
The gearbox receives rotation from the engine through a multi-plate clutch operating in an oil bath.
The gearbox is equipped with a forced lubrication system. Thanks to this, the torque on the output shaft has increased, friction losses and wear of contact surfaces have decreased.
Final drives are represented by two-stage spur gearboxes. Gears are lubricated by dipping them into oil and then spraying it. Drive sprockets are installed on the output shafts of the gearboxes, which engage with the caterpillar track.
Maneuvering is carried out by breaking the torque. For this purpose, multi-disc disconnecting clutches are installed on the track drives of the right and left sides. The operator activates them by moving the corresponding lever, which in turn activates the hydraulic drive.
To reduce the turning radius, it is possible to use a belt-type brake operating in an oil bath.
The peculiarity of the “Chinese” is its resistance to capsizing. The developers achieved this by shifting the center of gravity closer to the ground and increasing the track width, as well as the supporting surface of the track.
The latter is held in place by 9 cast support rollers. Of these, 2 support the idle branch, the rest take the weight of the apparatus. The tension of the web is carried out by the deflector wheel.
Hydraulics
The bulldozer is equipped with two independent hydraulic circuits.

The Shantui SD 23 bulldozer is equipped with 2 independent hydraulic systems that are not interconnected. These hydraulic systems are presented:
- hydraulic system of working bodies, which is responsible for the operation of the ripper. At the same time, reciprocating movements of the piston of the hydraulic cylinder and the blade are performed to ensure consistently high pressure in the hydraulic cylinders;

The standard basic equipment of Shantui SD 23 bulldozers includes the following working parts:
- a straight, non-rotating U-shaped blade, which is mounted in the front of the equipment using two powerful metal pusher bars. The dump is used in a full range of earthmoving and land management operations. The soil category does not play a significant role when using this working equipment. The width of the dump is 3.725 m, the height of its working surface is 1.39 m;
- single or three-shank ripper installed at the rear of the bulldozer. This working body is a dismantled structure with three links. The distance between the fangs of a three-prong ripper is one meter. It is effective for working with high loads - on particularly hard, rocky, frozen soils.

The Shantui SD23 bulldozer was developed on the basis of the Shantui SD22, from which the new version differs in an upgraded hydraulic system and a more powerful power unit
Before purchasing a bulldozer, you can choose one of three blades. Two straight versions are available (rotating and non-rotating with hydraulic skew), as well as a spherical one. The maximum width of the front implement (straight rotary blade) is 4.4 mm. The other two models have a width of about 3.8 m. The maximum depth of the blade is 540 mm, and it can be raised by 1.2 m. The maximum rotation angle of the rotary blade is 25 degrees. The most capacious is the hemispherical blade - with its help you can move up to 7 cubic meters of rock.
The ripper, installed in cases where the buyer needs it, can be single-post or three-post. The maximum depth of these organs is 695 and 666 mm, respectively, the lifting height is 515 and 555 mm. The rippers have a parallel design, there are three fangs.
The Shantui SD23 can work on slopes up to 30 degrees. The speed limits are as follows: 11.8 km/h when moving forward, 14.3 km/h in reverse. The minimum turning radius is 3.3 m.

If we talk about fuel consumption, the value declared by the manufacturer is 217 g/kWh. The pressure lubrication method is used.
