Mechanical and robotic gearboxes come from the factory with TATNEFT TRANSLUX 75W-85 and ROSNEFT KINETIC SERVICE 75W-85 oils. Previously, Lukoil TM-4 75W-90 liquid was used for these purposes. All these fluids meet the requirements of GL-4, and are intended for use in spiral bevel, cylindrical, bevel and hypoid gears that operate at contact pressures up to 3000 MPa and maximum oil temperatures up to +150 °C.

Based on this, the oil in the LADA Granta box may be as follows:

• THK Trans KP 75W-90 GL4
• Shell SPIRAX S5 ATE 75W-90 GL-4/5
• G-BOX Expert 80W-85 GL-4
• Gazpromfeft 80W-90 GL-4
• Other analogues with similar characteristics (Liqui Moly, ZIC and others)

The main requirement is that the oil meets API GL-4 or API GL-4/5. It is not recommended to use API GL-5 fluids in LADA Granta boxes, since some of their elements consist of soft metals.

You also need to consider the range of operating temperatures at which the car operates. This will allow you to select an oil with the most suitable viscosity characteristics.

For automatic transmissions, use original Genuine EJ-1 ATF or Nissan ATF Matic-S fluids.

Change frequency and types of oil used

According to the manufacturer's instructions, transmission oil in old Grants should be changed approximately every 70,000 kilometers, or once every five years (whichever comes first). In the case of gearbox 2181, the oil will have to be changed almost three times less often - once every 200,000 kilometers. Another important aspect regarding gearbox maintenance is checking the oil level and its consistency. Box 2181 does not provide for oil level control, so there is no dipstick in the design.

In addition, in boxes 2181 and 2190 the volume of the transmission oil sump is significantly different - in old boxes it is 3.3 liters, in new ones it is 2.2. Be sure to remember this when changing the oil - an insufficient oil level (as well as an excessive one) will definitely not benefit the gearbox.

As a rule, the factory oil that is poured into Grant boxes is semi-synthetic and belongs to the GL-4 class.
