Bus "Bogdan": engine technical characteristics, fuel consumption, repairs

If you have been to large cities in central and western Ukraine at least once, then you have definitely seen buses under the Bogdan brand or even ridden them. This is an entirely Ukrainian car, and it is produced by the only holding company in this country, Cherkasy Bus. The model range of this manufacturer is quite wide, and today various modifications of the A092, A093 machines are produced under this brand. Let's see what the Bogdan bus is like. Technical characteristics and design are further in our article.

Exterior of a bus from Ukraine

Although the bus was built in Ukraine, its appearance turned out to be quite modern. There is no obvious pretension in the design, but it is quite nice. The body has a slightly rounded shape and smooth outlines. This is the optimal solution for small city buses. The body was developed in Lvov at the facilities of a former design institute.

You can see something Japanese in the exterior. But this cannot be called an accident. Both the power unit and most of the main chassis components of this bus are supplied by the Japanese Isuzu. We will look at the technical characteristics of the Isuzu Bogdan bus, but first we will describe the structure of the body and interior.

About the manufacturer

The corporation was created in 2005 through the merger of several enterprises. The goal of the organization was the implementation of large investment projects aimed at creating capacities in the country for the production of various types of vehicles.

The production facilities with which the plants in Lutsk and Cherkassy are equipped ensure the production of a wide range of products: cars, buses and trolleybuses, trucks, and specialized equipment.

LLC "Cherkasy Bus" specializes in the manufacture of passenger vehicles for general and special purposes, small, medium and large capacity classes. The company has at its disposal pressing and procurement, bodywork, painting and assembly production, as well as diagnostic, finishing and delivery complexes. Regardless of the type, buses have a wide range of advantages, which determines the fairly high demand for equipment from Ukrainian enterprises.

Plastic technology

The front and rear body of the car is equipped with molded plastic panels. This is how the Ukrainian manufacturer defeated corrosion. The use of plastic made it possible to quickly and economically modernize the machine in the future, because plastic, unlike metal, is much easier to process and does not require the purchase of expensive stamp models. In Ukrainian Cherkassy they began to actively use this opportunity and use it to the maximum. Instead of a metal radiator grille, there is now a plastic, completely smooth panel. According to the Ukrainians, it looks European and very modern, and besides, the plastic is very easy to repair, you just need a little epoxy glue. Judging by the words of the drivers, a vehicle such as the Bogdan bus has technical characteristics completely designed according to this principle. Everything is thought out here. The body sides are made of galvanized sheet. It has longitudinal stamped elements. The rear window on this bus is made of two parts. Engineers from Cherkassy did this for economic reasons. If damaged, only one half will need to be replaced. In Cherkassy they preferred to simply paint the name of the bus, model index and other designations with ordinary black paint.

Advantages

The successful sale of Bogdan buses by manufacturers and suppliers is explained by the following advantages, in particular:

  • undoubted chassis quality, reliability and long service life of Isuzu engines; Ukrainian equipment is equipped with mechanisms from the Japanese manufacturer;
  • simple body design, eliminating technical problems during maintenance and repair;
  • efficiency, expressed in low fuel consumption, affordable prices for spare parts and components, low costs of operating equipment;
  • low level of financial costs for purchase and maintenance also guarantees a quick payback on purchased vehicles;
  • competitiveness, Bogdan models are sold at lower prices than their European counterparts;
  • wide choice of models and modifications.

Driver's workplace

Everything here is simple and practical. The driver's seat has convenient adjustment in the longitudinal axis, and the backrest can be adjusted to the angle of inclination. The workplace is decorated with a Japanese dashboard. With its help, the engineers managed to give the interior a touch of elegance. The prudent Japanese covered the instruments on the panel with common glass. A very solid and practical design, but on a sunny day the sun creates glare on it. The steering wheel has a small diameter and fits perfectly in the hand. Here many people get the feeling that they are “holding” a passenger car, not a bus. "Bogdan" technical characteristics are very advanced. A well-thought-out gearbox and an H-shaped shift pattern with the help of a small short-throw lever also resemble a passenger car.

The driver's seat is separated from the rest of the cabin by a partition and fence. However, there is no need for a fence, since the driver's seat is surrounded by a raised platform that hides the engine.

Buses: models

Manufacturers produce a wide selection of passenger transport models.
The model range of each enterprise includes buses in different numbers, differing in purpose, capacity class, overall dimensions, number of levels and passenger sections, type of fuel used and other characteristics. In addition to the demand by customers for certain types of equipment, it is possible to note the popularity of specific models. However, it is impossible to list all brands and models. This section presents articles about... - Next -

Passenger comfort

Buses are not built for drivers, but to transport people. What does the Bogdan bus offer in this regard? Technical characteristics speak of convenience and comfort of fit. A small class bus has two wide doors. The Bogdan's ground clearance is only 610 mm, so the car is considered low-floor, which is especially convenient for passengers. There are no areas for passengers to accumulate on the bus, but there is a wide passage. If we talk about the number of seats, the car has 21 seats and can also accommodate about 30 standing passengers.

There are double seats on the left, and a row of single seats on the right. According to European standards, as well as Ukrainian standards, the distance between the backs should be 700 mm. “Bogdan” offers a more comfortable one - 800 mm. There are convenient handrails on the backrests in case of careless driving on Ukrainian roads. People who are “lucky” to sit in such a car above the wheel arches will be forced to bend their legs. However, this does not interfere with comfort too much.

What's inside the cabin?

The interior upholstery is made of wood fiber, namely hardboard and plastic. Synthetic mats between the upholstery and cladding create a decent layer of thermal and sound insulation.

For passengers to enter or exit, each vehicle (no matter what year of manufacture) has two single-leaf doors with a pneumatic drive, and a lower floor level inside.

Semi-soft seats with a metal frame are just right for city travel. The upholstery materials meet fire safety standards and are easy to clean. A decent number of handrails and partitions allows standing passengers to sit comfortably.

Bus "Bogdan" - technical characteristics, repair and maintenance

The vehicles are equipped with modern Japanese diesel engines from Isuzu with a volume of 4.6 liters for cities or a 4.7 liter engine for commuter buses. The power of the four-cylinder turbodiesel, also equipped with an intercooler, is 148 hp. The maximum speed reaches 85 km/h on the first engine and 105 km/h on the second.

The unit has a layout for easy installation on a frame with a lifting cabin. Thanks to the efforts of Japanese engineers who designed the engine, repairs and maintenance of the unit are practically not required. However, maintaining the motor is also very difficult. For example, if you need to get to the heat exchanger, which often fails on these machines, then you need to dismantle the entire power system. Engine repair requires only original spare parts. Even consumables need to be completely original.

The lineup

Urban and suburban

Standard modification in the “city” configuration : non-folding seats, semi-soft type, two doors with a pneumatic drive system, interior upholstery - technical stove, two interior heaters, one emergency ventilation hatch, body color - yellow.

A092: fuel consumption per 100 km and more

In response to the tightening of international Euro environmental standards in Ukraine, Cherkasy Bus JSC officially presented on February 11, 2003 a new model of the small city bus “Bogdan” A-092. The widespread introduction of microprocessor control of diesel engine work processes made it possible to comply with Euro-3 standards . It was possible to achieve a reduction in toxic emissions by 3-5 times and 7-8% fuel savings. The model also differs from its predecessor A-091 by being extended by 215 mm. body. The increase was in the luggage compartment and the space in front of the rear passenger seats. The bus received a braking system with ABS. The front and rear masks, lighting equipment, seats in the cabin have been updated, and the design of the doors for the driver and passengers has changed.

Description

The bus has a body structure built on the chassis and main units of Japanese Isuzu models.

Model A092 was officially introduced on February 11, 2003.

А092Н6

The A092N6 bus is produced at the Cherkasy Bus enterprise, which from 1999 to 2011 was part of the Bogdan corporation, specializing in the production of passenger vehicles of the same brand. In 2012, in connection with the exit of the enterprise from the corporation, management announced the rebranding of its products. After restyling, models produced by .

A069

The A069 small class bus was created by Bogdan Corporation in 2006. The basis for it was the chassis of the Korean Hyundai County bus, while the body was developed by Ukrainian designers . The first vehicles were produced in mid-2006; in total, by the end of 2006, about 40 buses of the A069 model were produced. Production was organized at the Lutsk Automobile Plant, part of the Bogdan Corporation.

Story

Initially, the line of models included only two modifications - for urban and suburban transportation. A school bus was added in 2008; in the same 2008, 14 Bogdan-A069 buses were converted into mobile outpatient clinics by order of the International Charitable Foundation “International HIV/AIDS Alliance in Ukraine”. During 2007-2008 More than 500 Bogdan-A069 buses were produced, mainly the urban modification A06921. However, after the economic crisis of 2008, production volumes fell sharply: in 2009-2012. The Lutsk Automobile Plant produced no more than 200 Bogdan-A069 buses, most of which were school buses assembled by order of the Ministry of Education.

Despite the decline in demand, Bogdan expanded the line of modifications of the A069 model. Since 2010, production of Bogdan-A069 began with Hyundai D4DB (Euro-2; A06901, A06905, A06924) and Hyundai D4DD (Euro-3; A06902, A06906, A06922) engines. However, buses of these modifications did not become widespread.

Simultaneously with the introduction of Euro-3 environmental safety standards in Ukraine on January 1, 2013, Bogdan introduced a new line of A069 engines: school A06907 with an extended wheelbase, suburban and intercity A06908 and city A06909. In the urban modification Bogdan A06909, various interior layout options were provided (18 or 20 seats). model had two versions - suburban and intercity. Both options provided different configurations: passenger seats from soft non-adjustable to soft with armrests and seat adjustments, all seats are equipped with seat belts; luggage racks both in economy version and with individual lighting units and individual speakers; it was possible to install an audio-video system and evaporative coolers.

The new line of Bogdan-A069 buses with Euro-3 engines also did not find demand among buyers. In 2013, Bogdan produced only 60 A06907 school buses by order of the Ministry of Education. Therefore, the corporation did not adapt the A069 model to the new Euro-4 standards introduced in Ukraine on January 1, 2014.

A091

Bogdan A091 is a 7-meter middle-class bus of Ukrainian production, produced by the Bogdan corporation from 1999 to 2005.

History, detailed description

Since 1999, Bogdan-A091 has been produced at JSC Cherkasy Bus , created on the basis of an automobile repair enterprise that existed in Cherkassy back in Soviet times. The organization of a completely new production at the Cherkasy Bus Repair Plant was characterized by unprecedented growth dynamics - production volumes at the plant in 2001-2004 increased annually by two to three times. A rather rare situation arose when sales volumes were limited by the production capabilities of the plant. Combining the scientific and technical potential of a design bureau with 50 years of experience (starting from the legendary LAZ-695 and ending with LiAZ-5256) with new management in market conditions allowed the industrial and financial group "Ukrprominvest" to create a powerful production in the CIS among new manufacturers.

“Bogdan” appeared on the Ukrainian market at exactly the right moment – the bus fleet had not been updated for almost a decade and there was an urgent need for new models. At the same time, the difficult economic situation put road carriers in conditions where it was unprofitable to purchase expensive high-capacity buses. The aggregate equipment of the Japanese concern Isuzu and the use of new body technologies, which increased the service life of the body by one and a half to two times, determined the success of the Bogdan-A091 on the Ukrainian market, despite their high cost compared to other domestic buses of this class.

The fundamental difference is the abandonment of the traditional front-engine frame chassis in this class and the transition to a more durable supporting structure . The body is made of multi-component fiberglass. The car has a very comfortable air spring rear suspension , which significantly improves the smoothness of movement. The lowered floor level (you need to climb one step to enter the cabin) makes boarding easier and faster, and also significantly improves stability and maneuverability by lowering the center of mass.

Bogdan-A091 can carry 45 passengers, has 20 seats and a comfortable conductor's seat. The cabin is equipped with an effective autonomous heating system ; a large glass area provides good visibility for the driver and passengers. Power steering, clutch and brakes create good working conditions for the driver . The small overall dimensions of the bus allow you to maneuver very confidently on city streets crowded with other vehicles. A significant advantage is minimal fuel consumption with high engine power.

The first cars produced in 1999-2000 differed from subsequent ones by glued glass, a different shape of side windows in the cabin and interior layout. Instead of a three-row seating arrangement, a four-row seating arrangement was used , and the rear doors had a small storage area . Subsequently, the layout of the seats in the cabin was replaced by a three-row one, and the glass began to be secured with rubber seals. At first, the Isuzu concern supplied the power unit and gearbox for Bogdan buses directly from Japan, but since 2002 these components began to be produced by the Polish branch of the concern - Isuzu Motors Polska. Also, until 2002, Bogdan buses were produced with corrugated sides , after which the corrugated sides were replaced with equal ones.

Bogdan-A091.1 was also created . This bus has increased the number of seats to 26, and the rear doors have been replaced with emergency doors (opened manually). Bogdan-A091.1 is equipped with an additional trunk in the rear compartment with a door in the rear panel, an individual ventilation system integrated with luggage racks, a new interior and soft seats.

At the end of 2002, the Ukrprominvest concern and the Kharkov manufacturing enterprise Kvant developed and launched into production on the Cherkasy Bus a mobile X-ray fluorographic laboratory Indiars-P based on A091 . The mobile X-ray fluorography room is designed to serve remote sites. In terms of its equipment, Indiars-P based on Bogdan-A091 is not inferior to stationary X-ray fluorography rooms. Such mobile laboratories are already included in the fleets of hospitals and dispensaries in many Ukrainian cities.

In 2005, on the basis of Cherkasy Bus JSC, the Bogdanspetsavtotekhnika enterprise was created, which, in addition to the production of automobile bodies, vans and trailers, is also engaged in the overhaul of Bogdan-A091 buses and the manufacture of special-purpose models.

The growth of regulatory restrictions on environmental performance and traffic safety caused the emergence of a new model A092, which in 2004 finally replaced the A091. A092 eliminates the shortcomings inherent in A091 and takes into account the wishes of carriers to modernize the A091 model.

Driving a car

Japanese turbodiesel engines have been studied, tested and are quite simple. In addition, they are moderately reliable. The engine is powerful and has characteristic thrust. The unit picks up speed easily, its operation is flexible, and it forgives the driver for an incorrect gear.

The urban model has normal dynamics in city conditions, and acceleration to 100 km/h occurs in 35 seconds. The motor is not noisy, it only purrs slightly.

The brakes are dual-circuit, equipped with a hydraulic drive. If the car is assembled according to an individual order, you can get ABS. Drum brakes on all wheels. Suburban trims have disc brakes on the front and drum brakes on the rear. The parking brake is mechanical, there is also a transmission braking system and an auxiliary engine retarder equipped with an electric vacuum valve. You shouldn't use it too often. Drivers who drive Bogdans talk about excessive fuel consumption if this retarder is activated.

Similarities and differences between different modifications

A suburban bus, as a rule, has more seats (from 27), a city bus - slightly less (from 16). Below are first suburban, then urban - clear evidence of a rich model range.

Depending on the goals and needs of people, the following models are produced:

The small-class Bogdan A-3017 school bus is equipped with a turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 121 horsepower with Euro-2 standard. A 4 manual transmission is installed here. The length, width and height of the vehicle in millimeters are 7970, 2310 and 2900. The total number of seats is 21. The commuter copy A-09212 was not particularly different. Is it just minor deviations in dimensions and the number of seats - 26.

The middle-class commuter A-1452 is distinguished by a turbocharged diesel engine, which has an intercooling function and is located longitudinally at the rear of the bus. The 6-cylinder in-line engine meets the Euro-2 standard. Claimed power is 227 horsepower. 7 manual transmission. Length, width and height in millimeters – 9880, 2500 and 2960. 39 seats.

The A-092, with an engine power of 145 horsepower, has a 6-speed gearbox and small dimensions, due to which it can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. Its length, width and height in millimeters are 7420, 2300 and 2740. There are only 15 seats for passengers in the cabin.

A particularly large representative of the A-231 for city driving (43+1 seats) has the following dimensions:

Length, mm14560
Width, mm2500
Height, mm2900
