Kia RHINO truck: description

KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) is a medium-sized truck that was released in 1988. KIA RHINO fits well between large (KIA GRANTO line) and small (KIA TRADE line) trucks. Like many other buses and trucks, KIA RHINO was developed in collaboration with Japanese engineers, namely HINO, a world-famous manufacturer of buses, trucks and special equipment. Having received ready-made technological solutions, the developers of KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) added some of their own improvements.

Diesel engines installed on KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) are highly reliable and consume our diesel fuel without any problems. The design of these engines and their fuel equipment dates back to the mid-70s, which explains their durability and non-capriciousness. Carriers in Russia and many countries of the former USSR appreciated the performance qualities of the KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO). Currently, KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) is one of the leaders in sales in its class of medium-sized trucks on the used equipment market.

KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) is available in two body lengths: short (overall length – 7000 mm) and long (overall length – 8600 mm). The carrying capacity of KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) can vary from 4 to 5 tons. The KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) platform can be used to support a flatbed truck, van, manipulator, drilling rig, tank and much more. The line of KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) engines is limited to three engines: until 1999, the truck was equipped with a licensed unit called H07C, with a volume of 6700 cm3, a power of 165 “horses” and a second, also 6-cylinder, LX engine with a volume of 7.4 and the power is also about 170 hp, which is quite enough for a truck of this size.

Since 1999, after the absorption of KIA by the HYUNDAI corporation, the KIA RHINO began to be equipped with the D6DA engine, unified with the HYUNDAI model line, with a volume of 6.6 liters and a power of about 220 horsepower. Powerful, economical and reliable, without failure, all of the listed power units have gained an excellent reputation. The rear suspension of KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) is a continuous axle and springs, the front suspension is dependent, on springs, with a transverse beam. At the front, KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) has an anti-roll bar. KIA RHINO (ASIA RHINO) is equipped with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The drive to the rear axle gearbox is carried out via a cardan shaft.

Historical reference: Kia Motors dates back to 1944, when Kyungsung Precision Industry was founded. She was manufacturing bicycle parts in a small factory in Yangdeungpo, located in modern-day Seoul. In the spring of 1952, the company assembled the first Korean bicycle, after which the name changed to Kia Industrial Company. The name Kia comes from the Chinese words "ki", which means "rising" and "a" - "Asia". Therefore, the name Kia can be translated as “coming from the East” or “coming from Asia”. In October 1961, Kia began production of the C-100 motorcycle, thereby preparing the basis for the development of the Korean motorcycle industry. Already at the beginning of next year, Kia began assembling the K360 three-wheeled truck. Its production was stopped only after 12 years. Over the years, the company has successfully sold 25,000 bicycles. In 1981, production of motorcycles ceased. In 1971, due to the expansion of production and the start of truck production, the company was transformed into Kia Corporation. Further consolidation of the company is associated with the purchase of Asia Motors. At the same time, the 4-wheel Titan cargo truck was developed and became incredibly popular in Korea. In 1973, Kia released Korea's first gasoline engine, and in October 1974, the first Korean passenger car, Brisa. Soon this model was introduced in the countries of the Middle East. Brisa became the first Korean car aimed at export. Since the late 70s, the company has placed its main emphasis on the production of cars. In 1997, Asia was gripped by a financial crisis, which hit the corporation hard, leaving it bankrupt. In 1998, Kia Motors Corporation bought Hyundai Motors Corporation, resulting in a fundamental change in Kia's economic policy. Thanks to the right course, starting in 1999, the company began to make a profit again. In the fall of 2000, the Hyundai Automotive Group was formed. This event affected Kia's activities - the company progressed at an incredible pace.
