Externally, the BelAZ 75710 is an impressive sight. A mountain on huge wheels makes those nearby feel unreal about what is happening. By the way, tires for the supercar, which previously had to be exported, are now supplied domestically. The ingenious placement of small square headlights at the bottom of the cabin made it possible to install eight air filters at the front without any problems. Their replacement is carried out through special holes, closed in working order with round reflective covers. They give the giant dump truck an elegant and even somewhat fabulous look. It should also be noted that there are safety cables connecting the platform and the frame. They are necessary in case of failure of the hydraulic system and are capable of keeping a multi-ton body from sharply lowering. The BelAZ cabin resembles the control room of an ocean liner in terms of its abundance of various instruments and sensors. Everything that is necessary for the normal and safe operation of this giant is concentrated here. Quarry excavators appeared in the early 30s of the last century. Even then, they were better than trucks - they handled difficult terrain better, had a bucket body with a protective visor for the driver, and carried much more cargo on board.
Today, several brands compete in the dump truck market - Caterpillar, Liebherr, Terex, Euclid, Hitachi, Komatsu and BelAZ. But three years ago, the Belarusians beat everyone at once. On January 22, 2014, BelAZ-75710 “lifted” a load of 503 tons and 505 kg, which is 140 kg more than the previous record.

Dump truck deck
The car has a second floor - a deck. It is located next to the cabin where the driver is located. The latter is called the operator in this machine.
When going up to the second floor, you will notice a metal cabinet, which is the control panel. All the electrics are here and, importantly, its most important part is the transmission. Next to it is a system that provides cooling for the resistors.
Behind the control cabin is the integrated part of the hydraulic system, that is, the combination of the steering, braking system and a special tilting mechanism.

Fans and radiators can be seen in the rear of the cabin. There are rear view mirrors which may seem quite small at first. However, up close they are the same size as the house mirrors in the hallway. The new BelAZ is equipped with special Bridgestone Titan tires. Each of them weighs 5,300 kg, has a height of 4 meters (size 59/80R63), can take a weight of 101.6 tons and costs $42.5 thousand. There are 8 wheels in total, so we get a total load of 812.8 tons.
From this number we must immediately subtract the weight of the dump truck itself - 360 tons. The result is 450 tons - exactly what the BelAZ-75710 can take on board according to the project. “What about the record of 503.5 tons?”, you ask? Chassis
BelAZ-75600, the height of which is comparable to a three-story house, is equipped with a space-type frame made of high-strength alloy steel sheet elements. Cast parts strengthen the structure in areas of maximum load. Despite its impressive dimensions, the dump truck can turn around on a 33-meter platform. This is possible thanks to the short wheelbase, which provides good maneuverability.
The Belarusian giant has a standard basic formula - four wheels, a pair of which are driving. The front axle is equipped with a dependent suspension with a pneumohydraulic unit. Rear-wheel drive uses a linkage assembly with a center pivot. This design ensures high stability of the truck and ease of control. Compared to analogues, the dynamic load on the driver is reduced by 2-3 times.
He has a great appetite
Two BelAZ-75710 gas tanks are designed for 5,600 liters. A full gas tank at a regular gas station would cost about 250,000 rubles! But you also need a cooler (900 liters) and engine oil (538 liters). Control
The largest BelAZ is quite standard in handling, but many are confused by the presence of three pedals and a gear selector.
First, you need to remember that there is no checkpoint here. The selector is necessary in order to set the direction of movement of the car. To the right of it is a special body control. But why the third pedal? She is responsible for the brake. In the center there is a pedal for the hydraulic brake, and in order to avoid using the clutch lever (which was abandoned), another electrodynamic brake pedal is installed.
It is worth recalling that this vehicle can only be driven by a person who has not only cargo category C, but also a special BelAZ operator’s license.
It should be noted that the BelAZ steering wheel has quite ordinary characteristics, its parts and components are also standard and do not differ in any way from the design on other cars. When purchasing this dump truck, you will notice that it does not have headlights. They are not installed at the factory, although the wiring is done. After checking its functionality, the structure is immediately removed. This is done because immediately after delivery of the car to the customer, the car will still have to be disassembled, so there is no point in installing optics. The brakes of the BelAZ -75600 dump truck consist of a pair of hydraulic circuits, and this also applies to the parking block. The stopping system also uses traction motors, which switch to generator mode and act on the cooling of the braking resistors. In an emergency, the parking brake and the operating circuit of the main unit are activated.
From 140 to 200 cubic meters of slag or rock are placed in the car body, depending on the degree of loading. A massive visor provides additional safety. The cabin is designed for two people and meets all ergonomic and safety standards. A video review system and a convenient control system are provided. The new BelAZ has a hybrid engine - 4 Siemens electric motors, powered by two Russian-made diesel generators of 2,300 horsepower each. An empty dump truck only needs one diesel engine, but a loaded one needs every available “horse”. BelAZ-75600: SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT
The Belarusian Automobile Plant in Zhodino has been working on the creation and serial production of mining equipment for over fifty years. Mining dump trucks, whose production started in 1961, deserve special fame. Then the world saw a dump truck with a load capacity of 27 tons (BelAZ-540), then 40 tons (BelAZ-548) and 75 tons (BelAZ-549). After some time, the 100-ton mark was crossed, but the constant increase in customer demands did not provide any opportunity for rest. The plant's developers are constantly working on new projects, which allows them to keep the Belarusian brand at the same level.
The result of the enormous work of engineers was a mining dump truck capable of transporting 320 tons of cargo - BelAZ-75600. The presentation of the dump truck was specially scheduled for Mechanical Engineer Day, and Vladimir Konoplev, chairman of the lower house of parliament of the National Assembly of Belarus, who was present, expressed his pride in the company’s workers who managed to create the most powerful machine.
There are not so many trucks of this class in the world at present - they say that a total of about 100 units were produced. But they were all produced abroad (Caterpillar, Komatsu, Liebherr, Unit Rig), and now BelAZ has a similar unique machine. By creating it, as the general director of the Belarusian Automobile Plant Pavel Mariev said, the enterprise “overcame some of the lag behind global companies that produce mining dump trucks.”
Features of the 320-ton BelAZ model
And indeed the dump truck was huge with a curb weight of 250 tons. The dimensions of the quarry equipment are also impressive, because its height reaches 7 meters, its length is almost 15, and its width is 9 meters. However, the appearance of a “monster” could not be avoided, because the volume of mineral extraction is increasing, which requires appropriate transport with the ability to transport a larger volume and mass of ore.
There are few such trucks in the world, but they are all produced abroad by Unit Rig, Komatsu, Caterpillar and Liebherr, and the Belarusian BelAZ became the first to produce such a mining dump truck in the CIS. According to Pavel Mariev, general director of BelAZ, the release of the 75600 model made it possible to eliminate the gap between the enterprise and global competitors.
Work on the 320-ton vessel took two years, and the project cost about $9 million. When developing a massive mining dump truck, specialists took into account all modern safety requirements, and also provided diagnostic and control systems that allow timely response to changes in the vehicle’s operation and adjustments. The first customer of the BelAZ-75600 was a Russian coal mine, after which the order continued for two more units, because the price of a Belarusian mining dump truck is approximately 1.5 times lower when compared with foreign analogues.
Another feature of the giant is that an electric drive is used here for the first time. This model has 2 electric motors with a power of 1200 kW from Siemens. In addition, the dump truck was equipped with a Cummins QSK 78-C diesel unit with a capacity of 3.5 thousand horsepower, which has an electronic control system. The geometric volume of the “monster” body is 139 cubic meters, which can be increased to 200 cubic meters by loading the car “with a hill”. All the weight falls on the 4x2 wheel arrangement, and the torque is transmitted to a 2536 kW generator and redirected to the rear wheels.
The rear axle is made in the form of trailing arms with a central hinge, while the front suspension is pneumatic-hydraulic dependent. The BelAZ-75600 cabin provides space for two people, and the driver has the possibility of side and rear video viewing. In case of fire, the car was equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system.
In Belarus, a 320-ton dump truck is considered the largest on a global scale, although the reality is more consistent with the expression “one of the largest.”
Today, in the global market for heavy-duty mining dump trucks, the situation is constantly changing, because everything depends on the needs and wishes of the customer. It is impossible to exclude the possibility that BelAZ will constantly work to increase the carrying capacity of its vehicles, creating real monsters that can be several times larger than the size of the BelAZ-75600. With the initial stated load capacity figures of 450 tons, the developers did not stop there and allowed the auto giant to receive the nickname BelAZ 500 tons, photos of this miracle monster are presented below. Since back in the early 70s of the twentieth century, specialists from the Belarusian Automobile Plant tried to develop a similar truck with two rotary axles on eight tires.
