OKA walk-behind tractor instructions for maintenance and adjustment with photo examples

The VAZ Oka car was designed quite a long time ago, so the design of this small car is relatively simple, which allows car owners to carry out all maintenance and repair work themselves.

One of the most important types of maintenance for the Oka power plant is changing the oil, especially in winter. Technologically, this operation is easy to perform and does not require any special skills or knowledge. It is only important to observe the frequency of work and clarify what kind of lubricant should be poured.

Installation, repair, maintenance of OKA walk-behind tractor. User manual

This article will discuss the design, repair and maintenance of the OKA walk-behind tractor. Since 1991, this motorized device has been produced at the Kaluga Motor Plant under the name Motoblock MB-1.

Starting in 2011, the unit was renamed “Oka”. Its purpose is to carry out all types of agricultural work on small and medium-sized plots of land with different types of soil. Functional attachments, presented in the assortment by the manufacturer KaDvi, significantly expand the capabilities of the walk-behind tractor.

Motoblock Oka - operating instructions

When purchasing any Oka model, the first thing you need to do is read the operating instructions for the motorized device, which contains the following sections:

  1. The design of the unit (as well as the design of its components: gearbox, carburetor, etc.).
  2. Assembling the Oka walk-behind tractor, according to descriptions and diagrams.
  3. Technical characteristics of the selected model.
  4. Instructions for starting the engine for the first time (Lifan, Honda or any other).
  5. The procedure for proper running-in of the power plant.
  6. Maintenance.
  7. Troubleshooting the Oka walk-behind tractor.

Motoblock device

All existing Oka walk-behind tractors have the following device:

  • Gas engine;
  • rigid frame;
  • adjustable steering bars with rubberized handles;
  • transmission (reinforced chain reducer, V-belt transmission, mechanical gearbox, clutch, PTO drive);
  • chassis (wheel drive);
  • gas tank;
  • filters (oil and air);
  • ignition system;

  • forced air cooling;
  • use of AI-92 or AI-95 gasoline.

The ignition system is electronic, which includes: magneto, spark plugs, high-voltage wire.

It is necessary to start the engine correctly, according to the algorithm specified in the instructions. If certain actions are not followed, there is a high risk of engine failure. We invite you to watch a short video on how to start the Oka walk-behind tractor:

Gearbox device

The walk-behind gearbox transmits torque from the engine to the wheel drive. Its design is as follows:

  • sprockets (driver and driven);
  • chain;
  • shaft:
  • frame.

We suggest studying the cross-sectional diagram of the Oka walk-behind tractor gearbox:

The design and principle of operation of the carburetor

Carburetors are gas distribution devices inherent in gasoline engines. The function of the carburetor is as follows:

  • regulates the amount of incoming gasoline and air;
  • saturates the air with gasoline vapors.

We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the carburetor diagram for the Oka:

Run-in of Oka walk-behind tractor with Lifan engine

Before starting field work, it is necessary to break in the engine to avoid damage to moving parts and mechanisms.

Before starting the running-in, it is necessary to fill the tank with fuel and check the oil level. Proper running-in of the Oka walk-behind tractor engine begins immediately after the first start and lasts more than 30 hours. During this period, you cannot give heavy loads and work more than 2 hours a day, open the throttle valve more than ¾.

Tillage should also be carried out in a gentle manner - in several passes with a depth of no more than 10 cm in one pass. After the break-in period (20-30 hours worked in a gentle mode), it is necessary to completely drain the used oil and pour fresh oil into the engine crankcase.

Maintenance of Oka

Maintenance of a walk-behind tractor includes several stages:

  1. Daily work before and after use.
  2. Change of oil.
  3. Scheduled inspection.
  4. Preservation for long-term storage.

Let's consider the first point.

Malfunctions

The instructions included with the Oka walk-behind tractor contain a table that lists all possible problems, but we will focus on the most common ones:

Installing belts on the Oka walk-behind tractor

In order to perform the replacement, it is necessary to determine what size drive belt is required for the Oka walk-behind tractor. The following drive belts are available for sale:

Lighting for Oka walk-behind tractor

Many owners of this equipment strive to modernize the device as much as possible, to further increase comfort and ergonomics when working. One of the ways to modernize is to install lights (headlights).

Making light on an Oka walk-behind tractor is not that difficult; you just need to find and connect a generator of the required power to the unit. The connection algorithm is as follows:

  • a button is placed on the steering wheel;
  • the generator is attached to the walk-behind tractor;
  • headlights are attached to the front of the motorized device;
  • through wires, a connection is made from the button to the generator and to the headlight;
  • wires are insulated.

The more powerful the generator, the brighter the light will be; many people prefer to install automobile electric generators on this agricultural equipment. We invite you to watch a video on how to install the light on the Oka walk-behind tractor yourself:

Cylinder block

How much oil should be poured into a car engine?
The power plant crankcase is made of cast iron. As on all VAZ models, the cylinders are not inserted, but bored into the block. The cooling system channels (the so-called “jacket”) run throughout the block.

Since the power unit is a two-cylinder, in-line, there are only three supports for the crankshaft main journals at the bottom of the block. During the production process, high-precision machining of the working surfaces of these supports is carried out simultaneously with the covers.

As a result, each support has its own cover and they cannot be swapped, otherwise the crankshaft may rupture during operation of the car. To eliminate the possibility of installing the cover in the wrong place when repairing the power unit, they are marked.

The cylinder head is solid cast aluminum. Since the engine has a timing belt with an overhead camshaft, the cylinder head is equipped with beds for the shaft. To install the camshaft, three beds with covers were made. There are no shaft bearings; their role is played by the working surfaces of the bed and cover (therefore, if the bearings are heavily worn, the entire head must be replaced).

The cylinder head also houses timing valves (2 for each cylinder). As usual, the intake valve, to ensure better filling of the cylinder with the combustible mixture, has a larger diameter than the exhaust valve.

The cylinder head is fixed to the block with 6 bolts. When tightening fasteners, a certain pattern is used, which eliminates the possibility of the head being “skewed.”

Bolts require gradual tightening with increasing tightening torque. The force on the cylinder head mounting bolts has strictly defined values, so tightening must be done with a torque wrench.

The camshaft is made of cast iron, has a high degree of processing of the working surfaces - bearing journals and cams. In addition to acting on the valves, the camshaft also drives the vacuum fuel pump, for which there is an eccentric on the rear of it.

The crankshaft is a magnesium cast iron casting with subsequent high-precision machining of the working surfaces. It has 3 main journals and 2 connecting rods. 4 shaft cheeks, located between the journals, act as counterweights that reduce motor vibration during operation. The working surfaces of the crankshaft are lubricated through oil channels made inside the shaft.

In the front part of the crankshaft there are seats for the timing gear and the generator drive pulley. At the rear, in addition to the flange for attaching the flywheel, there is a balance shaft gear.

Replacing the oil seal

Before changing the oil seal on the gearbox of the Oka walk-behind tractor, you need to pay attention to the manufacturer, since each part has its own technical parameters, and the replacement procedure will differ significantly.

The oil seal is one of the simplest components of a walk-behind tractor. The cost of such a device is also low. It’s easy to determine that replacement is necessary; you just need to observe the condition of the oil, namely whether it is leaking. If this is not done, then the cost of repairs will increase.

You can replace the oil seal yourself

If you decide to make the replacement yourself, then the question arises: “How to change the oil seal on the gearbox?” The first thing to do is prepare the work surface and adjust the lighting. Next, follow these steps:

  1. Drain the oil from the device.
  2. Prepare a piece of cloth to wipe all components.
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4. Remove the boot and oil seal. This can be done with a slotted screwdriver. The part needs to be pryed and simply pulled out with a rag. Such parts are not repaired, but replaced.
  5. Next, wipe the shaft with a cloth, but first you need to oil it.
  6. Then fill the oil back.
  7. Put on the wheels.

Important! Remove the wheel from which you want to replace.

Purpose

When purchasing a new walk-behind tractor, the kit must include accompanying documents, which contain special sections with recommendations for proper care and operation. The names of oils ideally suited to the unit are also indicated there.

First of all, you should understand the basic functions of oil fluids. Liquids perform the following actions:

  • system cooling;
  • obtaining a lubrication effect;
  • cleaning the inside of the engine;
  • compaction

During operation of the walk-behind tractor in an air-cooled engine, the oil liquid begins to burn, and accordingly, burnt particles remain on the cylinder. This is why smoky exhaust is formed. In addition, tar deposits are the strongest pollutant for the remaining parts of the walk-behind tractor, making lubrication of parts more difficult.

It is preferable to fill the oil for a walk-behind tractor together with antioxidant liquids, which are a cleaning agent for the inside of the unit.

To choose the right oil fluid, you should remember that each individual composition is intended for a specific season and climatic temperature.

In simple words, you cannot use summer oil at temperatures below 5 degrees - this can lead to failure to start the engine.

  • The summer variety of oil liquid is used exclusively in the warm season. Has a high level of viscosity. There is no letter designation.
  • Winter varieties of oils are used during cold periods. They have a low viscosity level. The letter designation is W, which means “winter” in English. This variety includes oils with the SAE 0W, 5W, 10W, 15W, 20W, 25W index.
  • A variety of all-season oils are becoming more popular in the modern world. Their versatility allows you to fill the engine with liquid at any time of the year. It is these lubricants that have a special index in the general classification: 5W-30, 10W-40.

In addition to seasonality, oils are divided by composition. They are:

  • mineral;
  • synthetic;
  • semi-synthetic.

In addition, all oils differ in the performance requirements of a 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine.

Walk-behind tractors usually use a 4-stroke air-cooled system, so the oil must be 4-stroke. In the winter season, the most preferable option is transmission motor oil , for example, 0W40.

The price of the issue is, of course, high, but the response of the unit is its long service life.

In the engine

The primary oil change in the internal combustion engine occurs after 28-32 hours of operation. The next replacement can be made no more than 2 times a year - in summer and winter, even if the unit has been standing for some time without operation. To begin the replacement process itself, you need to prepare special attributes - a funnel and a container for draining the waste liquid.

OKA walk-behind tractor. OIL CHANGE # NEW SEASON"

At the bottom of the engine there is a hole with a cap through which old oil can be drained. A drain container is placed in the same place, the locking cap is unscrewed, and the waste liquid is drained. It is necessary to wait some time for the residue to completely drain from the engine system. The plug is then screwed into place and fresh oil added

Its quantity should be identical to the drained amount. If it is not possible to take measurements, it is better to look at the technical data sheet of the unit, where the required number in grams is indicated. After new oil has been poured into the engine, it is necessary to check its level. To do this, just use a special probe.

It is worth noting that in some engines that are sensitive to oil fluids, for example, Subaru or Honda, it is assumed that they use oils of a certain class, that is, SE and higher, but not lower than the SG class.

This instruction is general for both two-stroke and four-stroke models. More specific information on how to replace the oil fluid in a walk-behind tractor is best considered in the instructions for a specific unit.

Gearbox malfunctions

There are many reasons that can lead to the breakdown of this important unit, which will make the operation of walk-behind tractors from different manufacturers impossible. It is advisable to include among the main malfunctions characteristic of various models:

  • oil leak due to high wear of the cuff;
  • inappropriate lubrication parameters;
  • the appearance of smudges on the output shaft;
  • star rupture;
  • broken chain/belt;
  • Worn control lever threads.

It is important to note that most problems can be avoided by promptly changing the oil in the device. For this purpose, standard machine oil is used, which allows you to use the walk-behind tractor for many years without the need for repairs.

Procedure for changing oil for transmission and engine

Changing the engine oil

The automaker determines what kind of oil should be poured into the engine. The motor can be filled with Lukoil-Lux and Novoil-Synth. For transmissions, a good option is Rolst oil fluid.

The algorithm by which you can change consumables is as follows:

  1. Open the oil filler cap. It is located on the part that protects the cylinder head.
  2. Carefully, since the lubricant is very hot, open the drain cover located on the crankcase pan. Don't forget to install a container underneath for used motor oil.
  3. Remove the oil filter using a tool. If there is no key and you cannot remove the filter element manually, use a screwdriver. It is better to punch the oil filter closer to the bottom. After this, close the drain lid.
  4. Pour fresh oil into the oil filter (about half full).
  5. Lubricate the O-ring. Install the new oil filter onto the engine fitting. Do this manually without using the key.
  6. Pour in as much motor oil as required. How much lubricant to pour depends on the car model. It is possible to check the volume of petroleum product being poured using a pointer. Screw the cap into the part that protects the cylinder head.
  7. The engine oil change has come to an end. Start the power unit and let it idle for a couple of minutes. The indicator that indicates emergency lubricant pressure should go out a few minutes after starting the engine. Turn off the engine and check the oil volume. If it is not enough, top up.

Replacing transmission lube

You need to change the gearbox oil as follows:

  1. Remove the rubber cap installed on the breather and wash it.
  2. Use a screwdriver or wire to clean the cap and put it back.
  3. Unscrew the lid of the drain hole, placing a basin under it in advance. Wait until all the oil product has drained. The four-liter basin should contain all the old grease.
  4. Remove the oil dipstick from the hole in the rear transmission cover.
  5. Pour fresh consumables into the oil filler neck. Don't forget to put a funnel in the hole.
  6. Check the oil volume. If necessary, top up.

The lubricant must be drained immediately after turning off the engine, while it is still hot. If the engine has cooled down, start it and warm it up to eighty degrees. Usually the drain lasts no longer than a quarter of an hour.

To safely shift from forward to reverse, stop the engine, shift the shift lever to the desired position, and then start the engine again.

Daily Maintenance

  1. Remove dust, dirt, and oil from the external surfaces of the engine.
  2. Inspect the connection of the cylinder head to the engine cylinder block; if necessary, tighten the cylinder head bolts on a cooled engine in a diametrically opposite manner crosswise through 3 bolts.
  3. Check the reliability of the engine mounting and, if necessary, tighten loose connections.
  4. Check the tightness of the gas line hose connections from the fuel tank to the carburetor.
  5. Clean the protective casing (inlet to the fan) from foreign objects.

Technical inspection after 25 hours of operation: check the tightness of the gas hoses, add oil, and after 50, check the degree of tension of the V-belt drive belts, replace the transmission oil.

The Oka MB-1D1M10 walk-behind tractor is designed to operate at temperatures down to -50C. In winter, the following manipulations will help make starting easier: before work, the walk-behind tractor must be in a warm room for at least 10 hours. You can pour oil heated to 50-60 degrees into the engine. After adding hot oil, allow the engine parts to warm up for 10-15 minutes.

If the engine does not start, you should warm up the carburetor pipe and the carburetor itself by placing a cloth moistened with hot water on them.

MB-1 cultivator gearbox design

Let's look at the design of the gearbox of the MB-1 walk-behind tractor. This is a device responsible for rotation, movement from the engine to the wheels. The MB-1 walk-behind tractor gearbox is assembled in such a way that on its outer side there are elements responsible for changing gears. The gearbox has five positions. When pressed, the fork disengages the clutch. When reset, it returns to its original position.

When the drive is connected to the right side, the unit will stop. The rotation comes from the sprocket. When the handle catches the left sprocket, the gear is reduced. If maximum gear is desired, the handle is pulled out all the way.

Assembly and adjustment of the gearbox is carried out after repair or malfunction. Before the procedure, each part is inspected for damage and contamination.

Sometimes the engine on the MB-1 walk-behind tractor is replaced. This is done if you want to install an imported engine on a domestic model. For this purpose, a kit is used, which includes a plate (platform, pulley), belt transmission, and a set of fasteners. There is an engine replacement diagram. Thanks to the drawings, it will be possible to easily cope with the replacement.

Old-style motor cultivators are also popular. The first Soviet walk-behind tractor, MB-1, is a very durable and reliable technique that was used for various purposes. They were produced on the basis of Soviet cultivators, which were quite durable.

Which one is better to choose?

As mentioned earlier, there are several types of oils for walk-behind tractors. It is necessary to use the liquid recommended by the manufacturer of the unit - to do this, just carefully study the labeling of the device and the Honor instructions.

In addition, each individual type of oil is divided according to its chemical composition into several types. In most cases, manufacturers try to manufacture units with the ability to use the most common types of oils - synthetic, mineral, and semi-synthetics, for example, Mannol Molibden Benzin 10W40 or SAE 10W-30.

It is worth noting that this lubricant contains a friction modifier, which creates a durable film on the inner surface of the parts. This significantly reduces the wear rate of the walk-behind tractor.

READ What Oil to Fill in a Tarpan Motor Tiller

Another marking that should not be forgotten is the designation of the operating properties of oils. It also has several varieties. For example, category C is used for 4-stroke diesel engines, and category S is used for gasoline engines.

From these data a certain conclusion can be drawn. Considering the engine types, a high level of demand is directed towards all-season oils labeled 5W30 and 5W40. Among anti-corrosion oils, 10W30 and 10W40 are popular.

At temperatures above 45 degrees, oils marked 15W40, 20W40 should be used. For winter cold, it is necessary to use oil fluid 0W30, 0W40.

Reviews

Andrey, Omsk:

“In the spring, we work with a plow on the Oka River, which is already 4 years old. Before that I only used cutters and didn’t do much plowing. The first time I walked around the site - the mini tractor pulls the plow well, the soil is loose. After the second pass, I really liked the quality of the soil - I didn’t even need a rake. I don’t recommend repeating my mistake - don’t use a plow where turf grows. The blade will not cut small branches, and the straps may break, as happened to me. Otherwise, I recommend using a plow, it makes the work much easier!”

Valentin, Kazan:

“Of course, I had to get used to working with the plow. Firstly, plowing turned out to be the hardest type of work, which is why I would not use a plow for a cultivator at all. But if the tractor is heavy, then it’s fine. “Oka” has enough weight, and sometimes it goes hard. I advise you to add additional load to the wheels, then the center of gravity will drop lower and the load on the axle bearings will decrease.”

Dmitry, Tula:

“Maybe someone will find my experience of working with a plow on the Oka useful. I always make adjustments so that the ploughshare and plow heel are in contact with the ground, while the stand should be in a vertical position. Then I go through the first rows, again adjust the stand to full vertical, and change the amount of recess into the ground with the screw on the hitch. IMPORTANT: the rear edge of the share is placed at the same level with the lug, with its internal dimension, when we pass the third and subsequent furrows!

How much oil to pour into the Oka engine

Many drivers are interested in how much oil to fill in the Oka. Of course, this question mainly concerns those who use a VAZ-1111 car and its other modifications. Or those whose loved ones (for example, someone from the older generation) bought such a car.

The Oka car manufacturer recommends the use of certain types of oils.

Oka's car has a lot of modifications. Not all of them went into mass production, but several hundred samples were still sold. Depending on which of them you are dealing with, you can accurately determine the engine size. For example, the first Oka cars (VAZ-1111 and similar) have a crankcase filling volume of 2.5 liters. What is a crankcase? This is the name of a car part that protects its most important parts. This is a gearbox, various engine parts that are in motion, etc. The crankcase not only protects, but also lubricates those machine parts that are in motion.

Oka trucks, which were invented relatively recently (in 2007), need to be filled with more oil, of course. About 4 liters. It is equally important to do it the right way. Let's consider the rules for pouring oil into a passenger car. According to the manufacturer's recommendations, you need to use certain types of this liquid. Let's consider, as an example, how to change it for a VAZ-1111 car.

Do-it-yourself walk-behind tractor trailer

A trailer for a walk-behind tractor is a necessary thing, and sometimes even necessary in a private household. In this material we will look at how to make a trailer for a walk-behind tractor with your own hands, focusing on the drawings and descriptions for them.

In the diagram below, a homemade trailer for a walk-behind tractor, capable of transporting a load weighing more than 400 kg, but first things first. The trailer is equipped with a driver's seat, it is unpretentious in operation and quite simple to manufacture.

Speed adjustment

Sometimes situations arise when you need to adjust the regulators - you need to adjust the rotation (speed adjustment). Using the throttle cable it is possible to change the spring tension. If the tension is increased, the working spring opens the throttle valve more, and, accordingly, if it is decreased, it closes it. If the device is equipped with additional springs, the design features make it possible to increase the speed stability.

How to check the oil in the gearbox of a walk-behind tractor?

Monitor the amount of oil constantly. Otherwise, careless attitude to technology will lead to fatal consequences. Fresh oil is added every 50 hours. Along with this, excessive loads should be avoided, which ultimately lead to the rapid deterioration of mechanisms and components. Let's move on directly to changing the oil:

  1. We install the equipment on a flat area. We find a probe 70 cm long.
  2. The dipstick is bent and pushed into the oil fill hole until it stops, after which we remove the rod.
  3. We observe the oil level, which should be at least 25 cm. Add 2 liters of oil to the dry gearbox, at least 1.5 liters.

The filling oil must be GOST specific. It makes no sense to use cheap oil, because sooner or later it will cause breakdowns inside the walk-behind tractor gearbox.

Important details as a conclusion

We must not forget about important details when pouring oil into a car.

This fluid needs to be drained after the trip, and the sooner the better - while the engine has not yet cooled down.

What if the engine is already cold? It needs to be started and warmed up to a temperature of approximately 80°C. Don't rush to drain the oil. This procedure should take at least 15 minutes. You shouldn't expect this to happen any faster.

Location of the oil filter on the engine

The filling volume of the engine crankcase is 2.5 liters.

The list of oils recommended by the manufacturer is given in the Appendix “Fuels, lubricants and operating fluids” .

Drain the oil after driving while the engine is still warm. If the engine is cold, start and warm it up to a temperature of approximately 80 °C according to the coolant temperature gauge. It takes at least 15 minutes for the oil to drain completely.

It is recommended to fill in the same brand of oil as was in the engine. If you nevertheless decide to change the brand of oil, then flush the engine lubrication system with flushing oil or oil of the brand that will be poured into the engine. To do this, after draining the old oil, fill in new oil to the lower mark of the oil level indicator. Start the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes. Drain the oil and only then replace the oil filter. Now you can fill in new oil to the required level (top mark on the dipstick).

Advantages of the model

The main advantages of the Oka MB-1D1M10 are:

  • adjustable steering wheel (allows operators of any height to operate the equipment);
  • smooth running due to the chain gearbox (V-belt drive);
  • ergonomic design, thanks to which the walk-behind tractor confidently and easily passes even the most difficult soils;
  • protective wings for cutters - all Oka mechanisms are kept clean;
  • the performance of MB-1D1M10 is increased due to connecting rod bearings;
  • economical fuel consumption along with high operating power;
  • the sound pressure of the Oka of this model is reduced by 30% - the result of the box-shaped muffler;
  • built-in decompressor;
  • the presence of reverse, providing reverse movement of the unit;
  • cylinder with cast iron sleeve;
  • large load capacity due to the considerable weight of the machine (up to 500 kg with the weight of the equipment itself being 90 kg).

In fact, the Oka MB-1D1M10 walk-behind tractor is practically a “minitractor”, because with its help you can perform a wide range of household work that is inaccessible to equipment of less power and maneuverability: snow removal, grass mowing, watering, digging up root crops, hilling soils of any density, crushing feed for livestock, cleaning the area with brushes and a shovel-mouldboard, plowing even the densest soils.

Even an operator without experience can operate this device; the main thing is to set the direction of movement and not try to drive the walk-behind tractor yourself, using excessive force.

The standard package of MB-1D1M10 includes:

  • 4 cutters;
  • transport wheels;
  • axle extensions.

Disassembly and assembly of the gearbox

Disassembling the mechanism is described above. When the procedure is completed, you need to rinse thoroughly and replace the broken parts. If replacement of the shaft seal is required, it is carried out only after removing the latter from the gearbox.

Reassemble the device in reverse order. After assembly, sealant must be applied to the surface of the housing halves. Then these halves are connected. This is done starting with the central tie bolts. Then the fastening bolts are screwed in, the procedure is performed from the middle, smoothly moving to the edge of the product.

Before making the final tightening of the bolts, you need to check whether all parts of the gearbox move smoothly. Oka walk-behind tractors are especially popular among Russian summer residents; they have a number of advantages:

  • economical fuel consumption;
  • low noise level of engine operation;
  • compactness;
  • multifunctionality.

Such devices work perfectly thanks to the equipped four-stroke engine. The unit can process not only well-groomed soils, but also virgin soil. You will not regret purchasing such a machine, since it not only works properly, but is also quite easy to repair.

One of the engines that the walk-behind tractor comes with is Lifan

Lifan

In many farms and country houses you can find an Oka walk-behind tractor with a Lifan engine. The popularity of this modification is explained by the efficiency of the engine and good functional compatibility with small-sized equipment.

The engine also fits well on a walk-behind tractor. Lifan is a Chinese brand and is a large enterprise leading in its production segment. The engines of this company have earned a reputation as reliable devices with a long service life. Therefore, if the farm uses motorized cultivators, which engine to install on them when replacing it, you can decide by carefully studying the characteristics of the engine.

When choosing, priority attention should be paid to the goals that the equipment faces:

  • what is the area of the land plot;
  • what tasks should the unit perform (cultivating land, planting, hilling and digging up potatoes, watering, cleaning the site, transporting goods, etc.).

Subaru

Subaru engines are very popular among owners of equipment for farms and summer cottages. The reason is the numerous advantages of engines of this brand:

Rotary plow for walk-behind tractor, homemade

The rotary plow is universal, used on walk-behind tractors, and contains a manual rotary mechanism on a standard single hitch. As you know, when plowing the soil with a conventional plow, in one pass the layer of soil is turned over by the ploughshare in one direction. In order for the soil of the next row to turn over in the same direction, you have to return to the beginning of the previous row and start from the same side of the plot.

A rotating plow will allow you to plow much faster - at the end of the row, after turning the walk-behind tractor, you simply turn the ploughshare in the other direction and continue cultivating the soil.

Carburetor of MB-1 walk-behind tractor

Let's look at the carburetor of the MB-1 walk-behind tractor. The device regulates the fuel supply to the engine and prepares the combustible mixture (mixing fuel with air). It is part of an internal combustion engine.

Why do you need to adjust the carburetor? A situation may arise when the walk-behind tractor begins to work unstably. This can happen if the unit has not been used for a long time or, on the contrary, has undergone heavy loads. In such a situation, you will need to adjust the carburetor, for which there are special instructions.

The carburetor must be adjusted in the following sequence:

  1. Tighten the full and low throttle screws all the way (without overdoing it), and then unscrew them one and a half turns.
  2. Start the engine and wait 10 minutes for it to warm up.
  3. Without turning off the engine, set the lever to minimum speed.
  4. Using the screw (throttle valve), which regulates the amount of fuel flowing, you need to achieve such a minimum idle speed at which the interruptions will stop.
  5. Adjust the throttle screw to maximum and then to minimum. This must be done until the motor starts working normally.
  6. Move the engine lever to gas.
  7. Set the throttle screw to a maximum of 2.5 turns.

The MB-1 walk-behind tractor has the following attachments:

  • Plow. Designed for plowing land.
  • Hiller. For trimming furrows.
  • Root digger.

Stages of work

The operation is performed on a warm engine, so the best option is to do everything after the trip, allowing time for the engine to cool down a little.

Next we do this:

  • Open the hood;
  • We twist the oil filler cap (it is located on the cylinder head valve cover);
  • We climb under the car (this is what the hole is for);
  • We find the drain plug on the pan;
  • We tear off the cork and slowly turn it out (we hold the prepared container in our other hand). If the pan is still hot, it is better to wait until it cools down;
  • Having completely unscrewed the plug, quickly replace the container. We wait time for the lubricant to drain as much as possible (10-15 minutes);
  • We wrap the plug in place and tighten it;
  • Use a puller to dismantle the filter element (if there is no device, then simply pierce the housing with a screwdriver and use it as a lever to tear off the part);
  • Before installing a new filter component, fill it with lubricant and be sure to lubricate the seal (rubber ring);
  • We mount the filter in place and tighten it by hand;
  • We fill the engine with new lubricant (we do this in stages - first fill in 2 liters, wait until the oil drains, bring it to the desired level, guided by the dipstick);
  • Replace the oil filler cap;

After a short period of time (1-2 hours), we re-check the level to make sure that it is within the normal range; if necessary, we adjust it.

Motoblock OKA MB-D1M10

Tillage should also be carried out in a gentle manner - in several passes with a depth of no more than 10 cm in one pass. After the break-in period (20-30 hours worked in a gentle mode), it is necessary to completely drain the used oil and pour fresh oil into the engine crankcase.

What kind of liquid should I fill in and how should I do it?

Lukoil-Lux and Novoil-Sint oils are suitable for lubricating the engine of an Oka car; Rolst and TM5-9P transmission oils are suitable for the gearbox housing.

The Oka car manufacturer recommends the use of certain types of oils. For example, for a fuel tank, gasoline AI-91 and 95; to fill the engine lubrication system with Lukoil-Lux, Novoil-Sint and the like. For the gearbox housing, transmission oils are “Rolst”, “TM5-9P” and others of the same type.

The procedure for changing the oil (if we talk specifically about the engine) should be as follows:

Unscrew the plug of the hole called the filler

It is located on the cover, which, in turn, protects the cylinder head. As carefully as possible (the engine fluid is very hot), you should unscrew the drain plug located on the crankcase. It is important to first place some container under it and drain the liquid that has already been used. Then you need to unscrew the oil filter using a special wrench. What if you don’t have such a key and it’s impossible to borrow it from anyone or get it in any other way, but you can’t unscrew the filter by hand? A good option would be to try to unscrew the filter with a screwdriver, if you use it as a lever. The filter should be punched as close to the bottom as possible

Then the drain plug needs to be screwed into the crankcase. Fill it with new engine oil to approximately half the capacity of the oil filter. This must be done before installing the oil filter. After this, it is necessary to lubricate the o-ring of the new filter (that is, the oil filter) with engine oil, preferably the desired brand. Then screw the new oil filter onto the engine fitting. This must be done by hand, without the help of any tools. Then you should fill in as much of this oil liquid as necessary. It has already been said that the exact size of the required quantity depends on the Oka modification used. You can control how much of it has been placed in the engine using a pointer. Then you need to wrap the plug into the cap that protects the head. The last step is to start the engine and let it idle for a short amount of time. Ideally, the lamp indicating that the oil pressure is not normal should go out a couple of minutes after the engine has been started. Then you need to stop the engine, then check whether the oil level is sufficient. If there is not enough, add until there is as much as needed.

What to do if there is no money to purchase factory equipment for Oka walk-behind tractors?

In this case, you can try to make the necessary device yourself, especially since our portal contains many instructions, drawings and videos that can facilitate and speed up the process. You should not hope that the end result will be an object that fully corresponds to the factory models. Perhaps the aesthetics will be poor, but the functionality will be at the highest level.

For example, to create lugs, you just need to have several sheets of steel, an angle grinder, a welding machine and a drill. Owners of private sectors and land often have similar tools.

For the process of forming an object with your own hands to be successful, you need to take the task at hand seriously, be patient and be full of enthusiasm.

Equipment from other manufacturers

In addition to the original one, you can install attachments from other manufacturers on the Oka walk-behind tractor.

For proper installation and further safe operation, make sure that all fasteners have the required diameter, suitable for aggregation with the walk-behind tractor.

At Oka you can install a plow produced by such Russian companies as Gagarin, ZAO Vsevolzhsky RMZ, and PC Rusich. One of these is the “Mole” produced by Mobil K, which is sold without a hitch. “Mole” is suitable for installation on walk-behind tractors and cultivators from various manufacturers.

Setting up and adjusting before work

In order for the unit to work as required, it must be configured. Before setting up, the device must be coupled to the walk-behind tractor. After which it needs to be adjusted and only then can you start working.

What kind of hitch is needed for a plow?

produces plows already with a hitch, but on sale you can often find just a unit, without fastening. Then the hitch must be purchased separately, in special agricultural stores. The Kadvi is equipped with a screw hitch. Using it, you can adjust the depth of the tines into the ground as smoothly as possible, as well as the angle at which it will penetrate the soil.

Thanks to the screw hitch, the most smooth adjustment of the depth and angle of inclination (angle of attack) is ensured, which, in turn, greatly facilitates the work and reduces the operator’s labor costs.

The hitch can be used in conjunction with a hiller or with two hillers mounted on a traverse (frame), as well as with various excavators, tillers and other attachments.

How to configure and adjust?

Before installation, remove the wheels from the walk-behind tractor and install lugs on the axles. Then install the hitch if the plow does not come with one. For installation you only need a wrench, a plow, a hitch and a walk-behind tractor. The stand is aligned with the mounting holes and connected with bolts and nuts using a wrench.

Tip: to make installation of the plow easier, place the walk-behind tractor on stands, which can be bricks, boards or stones.

Now you can install the plow on the walk-behind tractor and secure it with cotter pins.

Let's move on to the adjustment:

  • the unit is placed on a hill, for example, on stands 15 cm high. This way it will be possible to adjust the plowing depth - according to the norm, it is from 15 to 18 cm;
  • The angle of inclination is adjusted by a bolt located on the hitch. The higher the heel of the plow, the deeper the depth of plowing of the soil will be, and vice versa;
  • the distance from the ground to the plow should be 3-5 cm. Next, it is recommended to carry out test plowing - this will check the depth of the furrow created, the stroke and smooth movement of the walk-behind tractor with an attachment;
  • After passing the first furrow, if necessary, the hitch is reconfigured for the most accurate depth of immersion into the soil and capture of the soil layer.

How to change?

Anyone can replace the lubricant in a walk-behind tractor, but if there is any doubt, it is better to contact a highly qualified specialist. The procedure for updating with oil fluid in any model of walk-behind tractor is no different from each other, be it an Enifield Titan MK1000 or any other motor from the Nikkey line.

First of all, you should remember that the oil is changed only when the engine is hot, that is, the system must first operate for at least 30 minutes. This rule applies not only to four-stroke engines, but also to two-stroke engines.

Thanks to the above nuance, the warm waste mixture easily flows into the container placed below. Once the used oil is completely gone, you can begin the replacement process.

First you need to unscrew the breather plug, drain the remaining used oil and, if necessary, change the additional oil and air filter. Then you need to fill in fresh fluid and return the plug to its place. New oil should be poured carefully so that it does not get on other parts of the system, otherwise an unpleasant odor will occur.

In the gearbox

The gearbox is the most important part, because it is responsible for converting and transmitting torque from the gearbox. Careful care and high-quality oil used for the device significantly extends its service life.

To replace the oil composition in the gearbox, it is necessary to perform a number of manipulations.

  • The walk-behind tractor must be placed on some hill - preferably in a pit.
  • Then the hole for disposal of used oil is unscrewed. The locking plug is usually located on the transmission itself.
  • After this, a prepared container is placed to drain the damaged lubricant.
  • After complete drainage, the hole must be tightly closed.
  • When these manipulations are carried out, clean oil must be poured into the gearbox.
  • Then you need to tighten the hole plug.

It is worth noting that in some gearbox models, for example, in the Efco line, there are through bolts that determine the amount of oil, which can be used as a guide when filling the fluid. In other models there is a special dipstick, by which you can see the total volume of the filled oil composition.

The initial oil change is performed after the break-in time has passed. For example, the EnerGoProm MB-800 model has a break-in time of 10-15 hours, and the Plowman TSR-820 unit has a break-in time of 8 hours. But the Oka line of walk-behind tractors was designed with a 30-hour break-in period. Subsequently, it is enough to drain and fill in new oil every 100-200 hours of full-time operation.

How to repair a walk-behind tractor gearbox yourself?

The material presented in this article is especially in demand for people who repair their equipment themselves. Next, the main “subtleties” regarding the repair of the walk-behind tractor gearbox will be touched upon. To go directly to the topic of repair, you need to understand the gearbox structure. Looking ahead, it is necessary to say: the structure of the gearboxes of modern walk-behind tractors is similar to each other, there are only minor differences in one model or another.

To avoid the question “How to disassemble a walk-behind tractor?”, you need to be familiar with all the details. We list the main parts and components of any modern walk-behind tractor: covers and pulley; bushings with bearings; lever, axle and fork for shifting; input shaft block with gear; input and output shaft of the walk-behind tractor gearbox. Accessories: washers and seals; right and left axle shaft; clutch and clutch fork; bracket and spring.

In cross-section, the Oka gearbox looks like this:

The body of the part is made of steel; it consists of two parts, which are fastened with three bolts and a sealing gasket. Angles are welded to each part of the body, which form the supporting frame of the device.

The transmission of the torque device of the walk-behind tractor gearbox is supplied from the left or right shaft sprocket. This part is engaged using a cracker, which moves along the axis of the shaft with a special shift knob. The recessed handle engages the sprocket, resulting in first gear being engaged. If the handle is pulled all the way, second gear will engage. In the middle position, the shift will be neutral.

In this video you will learn how to repair a walk-behind tractor gearbox:

With constant care of the device and regular checking of the oil condition, the gearbox will last quite a long time. If the device malfunctions, then the following reasons are possible:

READ Motoblock beam what belts

OKA walk-behind tractor. OIL CHANGE # NEW SEASON"

  • oil leaks ;
  • the axle release mechanism has malfunctioned;
  • the edge on the axle cover is worn;
  • no transmissions recorded.

In the latter case, the gear adjustment may be incorrect or the spring may be faulty. To correct the situation, it is necessary to disassemble the walk-behind tractor gearbox and replace defective parts as shown in the drawing of the multicultivator.

The device may also not work due to a broken circuit or lack of kinematic connection inside. To disassemble the gearbox, you must perform the following steps:

  • First, the engine and steering button are removed. Then pulleys and traction.
  • Then you should remove the wings from the supporting frame and the control rack.
  • All tightening bolts of the angles are turned out.
  • Then the wheels are removed. It is important to clean it from dust and dirt before disassembling the device, otherwise dirt that gets inside the structure can impair the operation of the gearbox. The oil must also be drained.
  • The next step is to remove the gear lever with all its components.
  • Next, remove the bolts from the cover and the nuts from them.
  • Then you need to place the device on the left half of the case and very carefully use a knife to remove the bolts that connect the two halves of the case.
  • The sprocket is removed from the intermediate shaft.
  • Then - the shift roller, fork and block shaft.

Important! Only broken parts should be removed, and not completely disassembled.
