Ermak snowmobile and other equipment for moving on snow of the STELS brand

A full-size single/double snowmobile with a classic utilitarian layout (two tracks and a wide cargo area) on a lightweight frame and with a modern powerful four-stroke engine under the hood.

This snowmobile is quite heavy and bulky - it is not suitable for beginners either in spirit or in purpose. It is more suitable for already experienced lovers of winter outdoor activities, for hunters and fishermen (as it allows you to tow sleds with serious loads). This snowmobile has good cross-country ability... and, in general, is conceived “like Buran, only better in all respects.”

Mostly, in the showrooms of Stels brand dealers, versions with one ski are presented, but if you set a goal (or place an order), you can purchase one with two.

Execution options

configurations and prices

  • Ermak 800S is a basic snowmobile model that was not in great demand and therefore, after the 2020 update, apparently was discontinued (at least, this model is not available for sale at dealers).
  • Ermak 800L is an extended version, now in the role of “basic” and therefore the most affordable model in the family. It differs from the 800S in its larger wheelbase and double seat. In 2022, dealers offer it at a price of 499,000 rubles, if you search on the secondary market, you can find a good option for 350,000 rubles.
  • Ermak 800LE is a special modified version with a number of options, such as a Canadian ski widener and additional protection with a winch mount. In dealer showrooms it is offered at a price of 554,000 rubles.
  • Ermak 800L CVTech - version with a Canadian variator (very reliable, does not require maintenance). If you plan to tow heavy loads, then you need to choose this option. Available at prices starting from 550,000 rubles.
  • Ermak 800L with two skis - its difference from the “regular Ermak” is obvious - there are two skis in front, instead of one. The cost of such a snowmobile is noticeably higher - dealers ask for it from 585,000 rubles.

Owner reviews

  • Over the entire period of use, the snowmobile performed well; of course, various breakdowns occurred, but, as a rule, they were minor. Spare parts for snowmobiles are quite affordable. It has already covered more than 1,300 kilometers and the snowmobile has never let us down. I've driven it long distances many times. Overall, this model turned out to be very reliable.
  • I especially liked the cross-country ability and dynamics of the snowmobile. The engine pulls great even with a load. After the run-in, some problems appeared with the variator, namely excess noise, but after it was repaired, everything was fixed. Compared to Buran, Stealth 800 came out much better in almost all respects, but that’s just my opinion. The snowball went through the run-in without any complaints and continues to serve reliably, although time will tell.

Peculiarities

One of the key features of this snowmobile is the aluminum frame, thanks to which its own weight is significantly reduced (for its impressive dimensions).

This snowmobile was created according to the classic “Buranovsky” design, but is much more comfortable and spacious than its “prototype”.

A modern, powerful engine provides good dynamics and load capacity.

There are two options available - with one or two skis. The first option has better load capacity and maneuverability, but the second has better stability and will be preferable for operation on loose snow in open spaces. The differences between the one- and two-ski “Ermak” in terms of technical characteristics are described in more detail below.

What the owners are talking about

The unit turned out to be very good, designed for the needs of hunters, fishermen, tourists, and travelers. High-quality assembly, all parts fit perfectly, the device is adapted for operation at low temperatures. The use of plastic reduces the possibility of snow sticking. Good handling, smooth ride, high load capacity. A full instrument panel, especially in the 800 model. All necessary signs are available. The price of the device is also pleasing. Here the price/quality ratio is excellent.

Along with the advantages, there are also disadvantages. Here's what users note:

Comparing with “Buran” we see that the height is twice as large. Despite the wide tires, the device is more unstable on the move. When driving through deep, loose snow, the snowmobile sinks deeply and control becomes very difficult. The equipment chatters from side to side. The device is not for beginners.

Some complained that they had to make sure that snow did not get under the tracks. It might break.

    The Stealth 600 Ermak snowmobile has quite a lot of features and advantages, namely:

    1. A gear-type gearbox equipped with reverse is used. The gearbox has high, low and neutral gears. The gear shift pattern is in many ways similar to automatic transmissions in passenger cars.
    2. The snowmobile uses a modern suspension that provides a comfortable ride on various surfaces. There is also improved self-cleaning.
    3. The snowmobile uses a modern modular frame, which has a tubular load-bearing frame, a middle rib and a painted aluminum tunnel. This tunnel prevents the freezing of ice and snow.
    4. The snowmobile uses a new lightweight caterpillar track, which has increased lugs and lanterns inside the track, which improve the self-cleaning of the track from snow.
    5. A special bottom made of high-strength plastic is used, which prevents snow from sticking. This type of bottom is ideal for planing in deep snow.
    6. The steering wheel grips and throttle trigger have dual-mode heating, which additionally ensures a comfortable ride.
    7. The snowmobile is equipped with a modular Viking seat, which allows you to increase the luggage compartment of the snowmobile. If necessary, you can completely remove the passenger seat with its base and backrest. It is worth noting that the backrest can also be installed on the driver’s seat.
    8. The snowmobile's fuel tank is designed for 58 liters of fuel, making it possible to make long trips without stopping to refuel. But besides this, there is also an additional fuel tank of 32 liters.
    9. In order to increase comfort and confidence when riding, the manufacturer equipped the snowmobile with a modern instrument panel and lighting equipment.
    10. In addition to the basic configuration, there are a lot of additional ones, thanks to which each client can choose the car that is suitable for him.

    Additional packages include the following options:

    • An electrical sensor indicating the fuel level in the fuel tank.
    • A sensor showing the temperature of the engine exhaust gases.
    • Sensor showing outside temperature.
    • Ski made of metal.
    • A couple of tubes.
    • A mount designed for a shotgun.
    • Heat-resistant battery case.
    • Back light.

    In addition to all of the above, the manufacturer offers a wide variety of additional equipment.

    Rules for movement and care of equipment

    In order for your Ermak equipment to function as long and productively as possible, you must adhere to certain rules of care and storage:

    • Always use only the recommended types of oil and fuel for your snowmobile;
    • store in a special place, preferably a garage, so that the equipment is not exposed to all sorts of negative influences;
    • Before you hit the road, you need to warm up the engine for a couple of minutes;
    • Always clear your snowmobile of ice and snow;
    • try to avoid rocky terrain, because solid bodies can damage this equipment even through snow;
    • you should not make turns at high speeds , because this way the driver can simply fall out of his seat, and the snowmobile continues to move in an uncontrollable state;
    • at night, for normal visibility and confident control, be sure to turn on the headlights.

    Using these simple tips, you will significantly increase the life of your Ermak snowmobile, and repairs will not cost you significant expenses. Treat your equipment carefully, then it will delight you with its work!

    Snow transport from the domestic company Ermak will be an excellent way to travel through snowy areas! These snowmobiles are really high quality, fast and functional, you can travel with cargo or a passenger. Ermak will make you a real snow conqueror!

    What are snowmobiles for?

    The scope of application of such vehicles is very wide: they are used both for normal driving and for hunting and transporting goods.

    The driver of a vehicle such as a snowmobile can calmly move at high speed and quickly maneuver, overcoming even serious and difficult obstacles.

    Snowmobile

    This is precisely what explains the widespread use of such machines in snowy areas.

    The design of any snowmobile is quite simple: instead of wheels, it has skis and tracks, which are ideal for moving on snow, and otherwise the movement process is similar to other types of transport.

    Adjusting the carburetor Stealth Ermak 600 L

    1. Conduct a visual inspection of the carburetors for damage or incompleteness. Connect the throttle control cables. When installing, pay attention to the correct installation of the clamp relative to the ribs of the cover. The lid is screwed on by hand.
    2. Connect the oil pump control cable. Adjust the oil pump control cable. When you fully press the accelerator trigger (all the way to the handle), the mark on the oil pump control lever should coincide with the mark on the oil pump housing. Adjustment is made using adjusting nuts.
    3. Adjust the fuel mixture quality screws. Screw the screws all the way (until they touch, without force) and unscrew 1.75 (one and three quarters) turns.
    4. Adjust the fuel mixture quantity screws. Screw the screws all the way (until they touch, without force) and unscrew 2.25 (two and 1/4) turns.
    5. Adjust the throttle control cables. Adjustment is carried out by screwing in/unscrewing the adjusting screws from the carburetor cover. When the accelerator trigger is fully pressed (all the way to the handle), the throttle valves should open completely.
    6. Adjust the timing of the opening of the throttle valves. Adjustment is carried out by screwing in/unscrewing the adjusting screws from the carburetor cover. The throttle valves should begin to rise simultaneously. Secure the adjusting screws in the carburetor cover with lock nuts.
    7. Check the free play of the accelerator trigger. The free play of the accelerator trigger should be 1-3 mm. Check the position of the oil pump control lever when the accelerator trigger is released. When the accelerator trigger is released, the mark on the oil pump control lever should coincide with the mark on the oil pump housing.
    8. Install enrichment valve control cables. Screw the control nut of the cables onto the adjusting screw until it stops in the cable sheath. Screw the fastening screw of the cables onto the adjusting screw until it stops against the locknut.
    9. Screw the enrichment valve control cable into the carburetor. When tightening, hold the cable sheath and the lock nut, turn only the cable fastening nut. There should be a gap of about 5 mm between the locknut and the fastening nut.
    10. Tighten the lock nuts of the enrichment cables until they stop against the fastening nut. Install carburetors on the snowmobile. Check engine operation. The idle speed of a warmed-up engine should be +- 200 rpm. When turning on the enrichment agent on a warmed-up power unit, the engine should reduce speed until operation stops.

    Vivid advantages of the STELS line

    Some of the most common snowmobiles are considered to be models from the STELS series : 600 and 800. This equipment is truly modern, reliable and controllable, like the Cayman walk-behind tractor, the Champion walk-behind tractor, the Shmel grain crusher, the Mantis cultivator and the MTZ 82 trator.

    Therefore, both STELS modifications have become quite widespread and have proven themselves to be excellent.

    They almost completely ousted Buran snowmobiles from the Russian Mechanics company from the market, which were previously really widespread.

    Optional equipment

    Ermak, as well as Yamaha snowmobiles (especially Yamaha Viking), allows you not only to purchase equipment for driving on snow, but also to improve it, making it as comfortable as possible for the owner. By purchasing STELS series snowmobiles, you can install the following types of additional equipment on them:

    • a branch breaker that will help you move in wooded areas without fear of damage from branches and other dangers that may await you in such areas;
    • LED rear lights that will help make your snowmobile more visible in the dark so that other equipment does not accidentally crash into it;
    • seeker. This xenon headlight is designed for those who like to hunt on snowmobiles and allows them to “comb” the area in the dark in search of game, or simply illuminate any objects without getting up from their snowy vehicle;
