There are several reasons. In my personal experience there were two on different machines. 1. The Pajero has a diesel engine, it takes a little too long to start, it turns out that the glow plugs are to blame. 2. The Fredliner has a Detroit engine. It took a long time to start, sometimes only from a quick start, it doesn’t matter, I just turned it off, cold, hot, no pattern and the same fuel did not go out, I thought maybe it wasn’t coming. Everything is cracked: fuel pump, tanks, fuel valves, etc. It turned out that the contact on the computer has oxidized and the voltage supplied to it is lower than it should be, but the onboard voltage is normal and the computer goes into emergency mode and does not allow startup. And when you spray a quick start, the speed rises and accordingly the on-board voltage rises, the computer has enough and it gives a start. I almost broke my head because of this.
