A semi-trailer is a vehicle whose front part is attached to a truck tractor and rests on it. It moves thanks to the draft power of the truck engine. Specialists from MAN took an active part in the design of the model. In 1988, the engines of German motorists appeared on the MAZ 54323, which had a positive effect on the technical characteristics of the car.

Production of this model ended only in 2008. They were replaced by MAZ 5440 series cars.

Power supply

Power supply units have 24 volts. There are two rechargeable batteries, but you can add two additional ones. The mechanism contains a generator (G273V), in which a voltage regulator is installed. In general, the power supply circuit is simple, reliable and efficient; it can serve several nodes at once.

Transmission

The clutch has one and two dry discs. Gearboxes are only mechanical with a number of speeds from 5 to 16. On the rear axle there are bevel pairs, as well as additional planetary gears enclosed in the hubs. There is a cardan shaft between the bridge and the gearbox. There are also brake units that have a pneumatic drive. On some models you can find ABS.

The double-disc clutch was produced (like the engine) at the Yaroslavl Machine-Building Plant and had a pneumatic booster. The main disks were equipped with damper pads (their outer diameter was 42.2 cm).

This transmission had two speeds and a multiplier. Synchronizers were present only on the stern gears. The transmission was switched using a “telescope” drive, which was based in the gearbox itself.

Cabin

There is a large hatch in the cabin roof. The ceiling is high. A specially shaped fairing was often installed on the outside, which improved the aerodynamic characteristics of the vehicle.
