The large glass area provides excellent visibility, and the presence of additional mirrors reduces blind spots. One mirror is installed at the top of the right door, and the second is above the windshield on the passenger side.
Access to the engine is provided by a special hydraulic cylinder, which tilts the entire cabin structure forward. Moreover, at an angle quite sufficient for maintenance and repair.

MAZ 6501 is built on a ladder-type spar frame made of hardened steel. In the front part there is a dependent suspension with shock absorbers, leaf springs and a transverse stabilizer, in the rear there is a balancer suspension with springs. At the Minsk plant, the MAZ 6501 chassis is equipped with welded bodies (U-shaped with rear unloading and rectangular with 3-sided unloading) with a hydraulic tipping device. The cars have 2 rear drive axles with lockable cross-axle and center differentials.
The cars of the family are equipped with 9-, 12- and 16-speed transmissions. Most modifications are equipped with YaMZ gearboxes. The latest MAZ 6501 models are equipped with ZF 9S1315TO, ZF 9JS135A, ZF 12JS200TA, ZF 16S1650 and ZF 16S2220 transmissions. Also, on some versions, starting from 2013, 9- and 12-speed JS gearboxes from the manufacturer Shaanxi Shaft Gear (China) are used.
The MAZ 6501 brake system consists of drum elements installed on all wheels, a pneumatic drive and an anti-lock braking system.
For models of the family, small cabins without a sleeping compartment are used. However, optionally, extended versions with a sleeping bag can be installed. The MAZ 6501 cabins are considered by many to be optimal in terms of ergonomics and comfort. In terms of noise and vibration insulation, they are superior to analogues from KamAZ.
