Distinctive features of the vehicle
The Mercedes Benz Sprinter 515 CDI can be equipped with a standard and refrigerated van, a dump truck with three-way unloading, etc. Depending on the selected type of superstructure, the scope of application of the truck is determined:
- the onboard platform is characterized by increased comfort and spaciousness (three types of wheelbase and platform area of 4.3 m2, 8.7 m2, 9.1 m2);
- isothermal van – transportation of goods in compliance with temperature conditions;
- minibus - transportation of passengers and cargo within the city, as well as outside it;
- the minibus is characterized by comfort and versatility; you can change the size and capacity of the cargo compartment;
- a manufactured goods van of a Mercedes Benz Sprinter 515 is used for transporting goods and goods;
- tourist bus – trips outside the city and reception of delegations;
- a van is a universal vehicle with a wide range of applications;
- The chassis has ample superstructure capabilities.
Mercedes-Benz Minibus GmbH
In 1998, EvoBus acquired a minority stake in coachbuilder Karl Koch GmbH in Mudersbach, and since early 2004 the company has been wholly owned by Daimler and operates as Mercedes-Benz Minibus GmbH
.
Prior to this, the company had already produced minibuses based on the Sprinter
and Vario in several locations, with operations concentrated in Dortmund and production expanded.
Four product lines will be launched in 2022: Transfer, Travel, City and Mobility. For smaller models (up to 45), the van is used as a base and extended, so the external dimensions are retained. Larger models use a low-frame chassis with an independent fiberglass structure on a supporting frame. There used to be also mid-size van-based models with a fiberglass rear extension (55), and the top-of-the-line City 77 model had a driven rear tandem axle with independent suspension. With the change of the Sprinter 2022 generation, the program has been adjusted to include some overly complex models. In addition to the extended standard-size Sprinter van, a Model 75 (City and Travel) is also being built, which at 8.5m is approximately 1.1m longer than the longest van or Model 45.
Sprinter transfer
The Sprinter Transfer is the link between the Tourer-equipped Sprinter and the more advanced Travel and City minibuses. Following the generation change in 2022, the Transfer 23 was only offered in right-hand drive.

Sprinter Travel
Sprinter Travel is designed by the manufacturer as a tourist bus. With the generational change in 2022, transfer models have taken over the role of smaller vehicles, and conversely, the new Travel 75 has taken on the role of larger transfer models. The Sprinter Travel comes standard with an automatic transmission.

Sprinter City
Sprinter City is a small bus for use in public transport. Accordingly, these models have a low floor area between the axles and, on larger models, behind the rear axle. The top model City 77, which was available previously, had a driven rear tandem axle with independent suspension, which was replaced by a simpler rigid axle with two tires in the successor City 75, presented at the IAA 2022 in Hannover. At the Minibus Euro Test 2022 competition in Madrid, it was recognized by the international jury as “Minibus of the Year”. The independent design of the car was recognized.

Power point
The Sprinter 515 engine is an inline four-cylinder powerplant producing 150 horsepower. The modern model is equipped with an improved exhaust filter and a modified catalyst. This guarantees that the exhaust gas quality meets the Euro 5 standard.
The Common Rails II diesel fuel supply system provides injection at a pressure of 1.6 kBar. The Mercedes Sprinter 515 engine has a volume of 2.15 liters. The injectors are equipped with seven holes, which increases torque at low engine speeds. The nominal frequency is 3800 rpm, torque is 330 Nm. During acceleration, smooth running is ensured due to the gradual supply of diesel.

Power line
For the second generation, 9 diesel and 3 gasoline engines were produced, with power ranging from 88 to 258 horsepower. The most popular engines are 2.1 liter diesel engines with 109 and 150 hp. In fact, this is the same engine OM 646 DE 22LA, meeting Euro 6 requirements. The difference between motors is the fuel system and the turbine.
Thanks to urea injection, the Sprinter is the first commercial vehicle to meet the new emission standards. Average diesel fuel consumption in the city is 16 liters, on the highway – 11 liters, and 13.5 liters in mixed mode.
The entire power line of the MB Mercedes-Benz Sprinter W906 is quite reliable and does not present “surprises” during operation.
Transmission
The diesel engines are paired with a 6-speed EcoGear manual transmission. The presence of 6th gear allows you to significantly save fuel on the highway by unloading the engine. The gasoline engine is paired exclusively with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The drive is permanent rear, and only in some short-wheelbase passenger versions is the car equipped with all-wheel drive.
Brakes
In the basic version, the Mercedes Sprinter 515 truck is equipped with disc brakes. The advanced dual circuit hydraulic braking system is durable, reliable and efficient. It includes an electric brake lining wear indicator, which displays information about the condition of all wheels on the on-board computer.
One of the standard features is a recoil mechanism, which makes starting easy when the base slopes. After releasing the brake pedal, there is a delay during which the Sprinter 515 does not move. The interval is about 2 seconds, which allows you to freely move your foot on the gas pedal and start moving up the slope. The AAS system is activated when the slope is greater than 4%.
