UAZ Profi. Characteristics, features, competitors


UAZ Profi is a new commercial vehicle with high payload capacity, economical servicing and a wide range of functionality.

In September 2022, serial production of the truck began at the Ulyanovsk plant, which expanded the brand’s model range. The car was first presented at the Moscow International Commercial Transport Exhibition Comtrans-2017. This fall is the start of car sales.

The new hybrid model is available in rear-wheel drive (236021) and all-wheel drive (236022) versions with two types of cabs and platforms, the capacity of which is up to five Euro pallets, and the load capacity is 1.5 tons. Buyers have access to the UAZ Profi with both a 3-seater cab and a 2-seater cab.

The truck is equipped with a modernized 147-horsepower ZMZ PRO 2.7-liter gasoline engine.

The manufacturer took care of safety by equipping the UAZ Profi truck with a driver airbag and ABS and EBD systems in the basic version.

Interior equipment

The interior of the new Profik directly depends on the type of transmission. In rear-wheel drive versions, a two-seater sofa is installed next to the driver's seat - two adults fit comfortably. True, you cannot envy the fate of the average one, because his knees rest against the console. It also has its advantages - there is a spacious drawer under the sofa cushion. Even large items can fit.

The all-wheel drive version has only 2 seats, and another one has appeared next to the gear lever. It activates 4x4 mode. As for the interior decoration, the impressions are the most pleasant. All instruments are easy to read, there are many pockets for small items, and the materials are of decent quality.

The design takes into account operating experience of similar models:

  • reliable side locks are used, just like on military equipment;
  • Rubber dampers are installed to prevent the side from sliding under the car when lifting into the body;
  • there are loops for securing cargo located at the level of the body floor;
  • flat sidewalls and a gable roof with a transparent insert in the cargo area.

The design of the vehicle with a 1-row cab and without all-wheel drive is designed for a load of 1510 kg, with all-wheel drive - 1435 kg.

External overall dimensions are:

  • at the top point of the body awning – 2520 mm;
  • along the maximum protruding parts (width) - 2315 mm;
  • at the extreme points (in length) - 5940 mm.

The UAZ 236021 cabin is designed for a driver and 1 (for the 4×4 formula) or 2 (for 4×2) passengers. Modifications with a 2-row cab can accommodate an additional 3 people.

Interior

The designers have provided everything for a comfortable trip - comfortable seating, microclimate maintenance, storage space for things and documents:

  • steering wheel with reach and tilt adjustment;
  • warming up the seats and windshield;
  • effective noise and vibration insulation;
  • handrails for boarding the cabin;
  • adjustable backrest tilt, cushion height, longitudinal position of the driver's seat;
  • lumbar support;
  • seat belt height adjustment;
  • climate system - air conditioning and stove with well-functioning air ducts;
  • organizer under the passenger seat, clothes hooks and pockets for small items;
  • A4 box for paper documents.

3 seats in the first row is more of a marketing ploy, since the middle passenger interferes with the driver’s work, limiting gear changes, affecting traffic safety.

The placement of the main controls is intuitive. The 3-spoke steering wheel makes the truck easier to control both on the highway and during intensive maneuvering.

The appearance of the car is recognizable, but is not a copy of previous models. It is made taking into account modern design requirements, succinctly demonstrating its purpose. The manufacturer offers 2 cab modifications - standard and 2-row.

For an extra charge, the Polutorka can get not only a more ergonomic driver’s seat with increased lateral support, but also air conditioning, as well as a heated seat and windshield system.

In total, the updated truck compared to the all-wheel drive Pro has risen in price by 200 thousand rubles: for the regular version, UAZ asks from 980,000 rubles, for the extended version - from 1,025,000 rubles.

Accordingly, versions with bodies such as manufactured goods van (1.05 million rubles), isotherm (from 1.12 million rubles) and refrigerator (from 1.29 million rubles) will also become more expensive.

Characteristics of UAZ Profi

The maximum length is 5990 mm with a center distance of 3500 mm. The maximum width at the level of the side mirrors is 2315 mm, and the height, taking into account the raised awning, is 2520 mm.

The ground clearance of a loaded car (weight ranging from 1990 to 2085 kg) is at least 210 mm. The vehicle's carrying capacity, taking into account the weight of the driver and passengers, ranges from 1400 kg to 1510 kg, while the total weight does not exceed 3500 kg.

Engine and transmission

The new UAZ Pro is equipped with a ZMZ PRO engine (ZMZ-409051.10) with a volume of 2.7 liters. Its power is increased to 110 kW (150 instead of the previous 135 hp), a Common Rail injector is used in a 16-valve timing belt with a turbocharger.

Torque has increased to 235 Nm, reaching a peak at 2650 rpm (in the previous model the maximum was at 3900 rpm). Increasing the compression from 9.1 to 9.8 not only increased power, but also made the engine dynamics more elastic.

The UAZ Profi can be equipped with the previous model ZMZ-409052, designed for gasoline or propane-butane mixture. At the same time, its performance characteristics differ slightly - power is 143 hp. (105 kW) and a torque of 227.5 Nm at 2650 rpm.

A proven solution was used in the timing mechanism - a 2-row chain, which ensures reliable operation even in the absence of maintenance. The shape of the piston heads prevents contact with highly heat-resistant valves designed to operate with gas fuel.

Both modifications use a gearbox from the Korean manufacturer Dymos, the same as that found on the UAZ Patriot. All-wheel drive (4x4) vehicles use a proprietary transfer case, controlled by a lever rather than servos. Both versions use the same driveshaft, which is achieved by installing an adapter in place of the “transfer case” in the 4x2 version.

Evgeniy Galkin, director of the Scientific and Technical Center of UAZ LLC, in an interview on March 16, 2018 with the Za Rulem magazine, said that diesel engines are not planned to be installed in the Pro family cars for the following reasons:

  • savings up to 50% on HBO;
  • high cost of diesel fuel;
  • high operating costs for maintenance and spare parts.

Chassis

The truck has a dependent suspension: at the front - on springs, at the rear - on springs and with a transverse stability bar on the axles. The use of ball joints in the front suspension, and for the 4x4 version - CV joints instead of the traditional solution, reduced the turning radius to 5.9 m.

The rear suspension gear housing is reinforced with 3 stiffening ribs. The strength of the “stockings” has been increased - the outer diameter has increased to 83 mm, and the wall thickness has increased to 11 mm. Upon request, forced locking from Eaton Locker is installed. The springs are now located under the bridge, which allows for a smooth ride and does not pierce the suspension under load.

The braking system is mixed - a disc mechanism is used at the front and a drum mechanism at the rear. Additionally, the machine is equipped with ABS and EBD systems.

Steering

UAZ Profi and Patriot use different schemes for transmitting force to the wheels. In the truck, the steering rod on the UAZ Patriot is not used as a central one. Only the right rod goes out to the steering knuckle, the left one is embedded into it.

Electrical equipment in the cabin

The cabin houses, in whole or in part, most of the vehicle's electrical systems:

  • Airbag;
  • electric windows;
  • ABS;
  • EBD;
  • electrically adjustable and heated mirrors;
  • central locking;
  • multimedia and navigation systems.

In the Comfort package, the saturation of electrical equipment increases even more due to the presence of:

  • climate control systems;
  • additional headlights;
  • anti-theft alarm;
  • audio systems;
  • electric heating of windows, mirrors, seats;
  • Increased capacity battery.

From 09/11/2017 to 10/06/2017, the UAZ Profi truck, standard and fully loaded, participated in testing samples of military equipment that took place in the mountains, desert and hot climate areas.

High temperature and dust did not prevent the UAZ from overcoming dunes tens of meters high. In the Caucasus, a loaded UAZ rose under its own power to a height of 3198 m (Elbrus).

The car can run on AI-92 gasoline or switch from one type of fuel to another in a gas/gasoline pair if the appropriate equipment is available. Average fuel consumption is normally 12 – 12.5 liters per 100 km. But actual consumption may be 50% higher than the indicated values.

Appearance

Let's start, perhaps, with the UAZ Profi cabin. Its shape is very similar to the front of the Patriot SUV. At the same time, the creators equipped the truck with some new parts. For example, the Profi front bumper is made of black plastic, and the wheel arch extensions are made of the same material. The front optics and radiator grille have also undergone changes. Daytime running lights are already installed in the basic version. At the same time, fog lights are available only in the “Comfort” modification.

The exterior of the new product turned out to be quite attractive; in this regard, the UAZ Profi is not inferior to other commercial vehicles. I would like to highlight the green metallic color, which looks very good. In addition, silver, black, dark gray and white colors are also available.

It is noteworthy that the outside mirrors in the truck are available in two options. They differ not only in appearance, but also in functionality. Thus, the version with a basic platform for transporting goods can be equipped with electrically adjustable mirrors, but the modification with increased width sides is equipped only with heated mirrors.

Fuel consumption is a sore subject. It is not for nothing that the technical characteristics contain the old-fashioned control measurement at 80 km/h. At higher speeds, appetite increases noticeably. It’s good that the long-wheelbase Pro comes with a 150-liter propane-butane tank instead of the standard 100 liters.

The gas remaining indicator is very approximate. According to my estimates, at highway speeds of 80 km/h, gas consumption is 15 l/100 km. It turns out that you can travel up to 1000 km on one cylinder! And this is without touching gasoline, of which the UAZ carries 68 liters. Enviable autonomy.
