By the early 80s, the Soviet army had a wide range of three-axle trucks in service: from the ZIL-131 with a lifting capacity of 5 tons, to the heavy 9.5-ton KrAZ-260. However, at the very end of the Soviet country, the MAZ-6317, the heaviest three-axle truck in the USSR, entered service.

The Minsk Automobile Plant received technical specifications for the development of a new three-axle truck in September 1984. According to the project, the vehicle had to have a carrying capacity of at least 11 tons and a 6x6 wheel arrangement. Three years later, five prototypes were built. In the truck tractor version, the truck received the industry index MAZ-6425, and in the version with an onboard platform, MAZ-6317.

Truck tractors

Truck tractors of the Minsk Automobile Plant are operated together with cargo semi-trailers of various types. Including tank trucks, flatbed trailers, vans, container ships, timber trucks, etc.

Add. units can be attached to the tractor in a variety of ways, using a new grid of holes that allow reinforced crossmember brackets to be attached to the side members. This simplifies the installation of different add-ons and platforms on the tractor.

MAZ truck tractors are produced with a 4x2 or 6x2 wheel arrangement. Reinforced spring or air suspension is not afraid of roads with poor quality surfaces. The carrying capacity of MAZ truck tractors is up to forty tons.

MAZ tractors are made taking into account environmental standards of the European Union, comply with TIR requirements and can be used in international transport throughout Europe.

The chassis and cabin of modern MAZ truck tractors are equipped with noise-absorbing screens. The spacious cabin of MAZ trucks is equipped with a separate four-point suspension, an independent heating and air conditioning system, and comfortable sleeping places.

The fuel tanks are large enough to hold 500 liters of diesel fuel. In addition, it is possible to install a tank of 700 liters, as well as a second additional tank of 300 liters.

Reviews from owners and drivers of MAZ-54323

The cabin of this truck deserves a lot of positive feedback in terms of its spaciousness and ease of use. However, its susceptibility to corrosion is noted: the quality of the metal is unimportant. There are a number of people who are dissatisfied with the operation of the cabin heater. In severe frosts, it is not enough to create a comfortable atmosphere in the cabin. Therefore, some owners and drivers are engaged in additional insulation of the MAZ-54323 cabin (pasting with thermal insulation, additional oil heater). The cab bumper consists of three parts; its outer parts do not have the necessary strength.

High praise is given to the YaMZ-238DE engine: quite powerful, reliable, trouble-free, and generally one of the most durable diesel engines for trucks in history. But the standard gearbox is characterized as “too delicate”, and they even advise replacing it with a KamAZ one or “from a European”. They also criticize a weak and short-lived compressor and an insufficiently powerful generator (in winter, the batteries may not receive a normal charge). There is also a weakness in the crosspieces, which can be “treated” by replacing them with KrAZ ones.

Naturally, everyone notes the competitive price of this truck tractor: for that kind of money, a foreign car of this class can only be purchased in a very “shabby” condition. The machine is unpretentious to the quality of diesel fuel, spare parts for it can be found anywhere, and repairs, for the most part, can be carried out on your own, “in the field” and “on your knees”. The car is also not critical to oil. The brakes work very well.

In general, the MAZ-54323 is characterized as an inexpensive truck in terms of price and further maintenance and repair; quite reliable, unpretentious and hardy. The owners use this car as part of a road train. In terms of production and sales volumes, this model is among the long-term leaders in the product line of the Minsk Automobile Plant.

Flatbed trucks

MAZ flatbed trucks are designed for transporting goods over long distances on a cargo platform or as part of a road train. They can transport containerized, packaged and consolidated cargo with a total volume of up to 46 m3. Onboard MAZ trucks will be equipped with both closed and open cargo platforms. The diesel fuel tank of the Zubryat holds 200 liters of diesel fuel, while their larger counterparts have a capacity of 500 liters.

MAZ-4371 P2 428/429

Medium-tonnage trucks MAZ-4371 P2 428/429 (“Zubryata”) are designed for transporting goods around the city, as well as between cities. Wheel formula 4x2.

In the basic configuration, the MAZ-4371 vehicle is equipped with an MMZ D-245.35E4 engine with a power of 124 kW / 169 hp. The truck is equipped with a six-speed FAST GEAR 6J70TA F S5-42 gearbox and 235/75 R17.5 tires; equipped with ABS and speed limiter up to 85 km/h.

The backlash-free hitch helps greatly simplify the process of attaching a trailer. Anti-roll bars are also installed on the MAZ flatbed truck, which help to hold the road during high-speed turns. The small cabin has a folding berth.

MAZ dump trucks

Dump trucks from the Minsk Automobile Plant are widely used in various industries: public utilities or agriculture, construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, residential and commercial real estate. "MAZ-54323" is equipped with a double cabin with two berths. It is made with springs, tilting forward at an angle of 60 degrees, using a hydraulic cylinder. The driver's seat is sprung, adjustable for the driver's weight, length, height, cushion and backrest angle. There is a ventilation hatch in the cabin roof. The engine cylinder block is cast, made of low-alloy cast iron, cast as one piece with the upper part of the crankcase. The cylinder liners are of the “wet” type, made of alloy cast iron, with a water joint seal provided by three rubber rings. 2 cylinder heads - cast, made of low-alloy cast iron, one for each row of cylinders, with pressed seats and valve guides. The combustion chamber is single-cavity in the piston. Pistons are cast, made of high-silicon aluminum alloy.

The injection pump of this engine is 8-section, spool-type, with a low-pressure fuel priming pump, a fuel injection advance clutch and an all-mode speed controller. The air filter is dry, with a replaceable filter element and a clogging indicator. The YaMZ-238B engine is equipped with an electric torch device (EFD) to facilitate starting in cold weather. On the frame, this power unit is mounted on three supports: 1 front (bracket on the distribution gear cover) and 2 rear (located on both sides of the flywheel housing).

Technologically, the YaMZ-238B engine is similar to the YaMZ-238M2, and differs from it in the presence of a turbocharging system and associated design changes. The YaMZ-238B engine was originally developed specifically for MAZ road trains. It was also used as part of tractor equipment, front loaders and track machines, on dump trucks and bulldozers. Currently, this engine model is also no longer available.

Universal chassis MAZ

MAZ chassis are designed for installation of: auto lifts, auto tow trucks, ATZ, auto lifts, equipment for transporting cylinders, tanks, vans, ATC, ATs, PAZS, special rotation buses; fire, construction, municipal equipment; various types of special equipment; excavators, cranes, concrete mixers, dump trucks.

They differ from each other:

Model history

The first serial truck tractor of the MAZ-5432 series was assembled on the main assembly line of the Minsk Automobile Plant on May 19, 1981. This day is considered to be the starting point in the history of Belarusian third-generation long-haul trucks. The carrying capacity of this tractor reached 21 tons, and the total weight was 34 tons. In addition, this family was distinguished by a qualitatively new type of cabin with a double berth of large volume, more modern equipment and the presence of a transverse stabilizer in the front suspension design.

Truck tractor "MAZ-5432".

Launched into serial production in 1985, the MAZ-54322, with the YaMZ-238F2 diesel engine, and in 1988, the MAZ-54323, with the YaMZ-238B engine, were distinguished by an even more comfortable cabin and a modified design of the front part. Specialists took part in the development of the MAZ-54323 model. In particular, the cabin was equipped using technological solutions from MAN cabins of the F-2000 series. And in the same 1988, MAN’s 360-horsepower diesel engines were first supplied to MAZ (in the MAZ-54326 modification).

And this is the MAZ-54323 - with another modification of the YaMZ-238 engine and a redesigned cabin.

In 2000, these trucks, which by that time were among the leaders in production volume, had drive axles equipped with cross-axle differential locks, and the new front axle began to withstand a load of up to seven tons, and provide a steering angle of up to 45 degrees. .

Production of the MAZ-54323 and other 5432 series trucks was finally completed by 2008, when they were replaced by newer and more modern MAZ-5440. Do not confuse two- and three-axle Minsk mainline tractors: they have three axles.

MAZ log trucks

Minsk Automobile Plant offers ready-made solutions in the segment of timber transport vehicles. These are reliable and durable trucks of basic models MAZ-6317 X9-444; MAZ-6317 X9-460; MAZ-6312 B9-476; MAZ-6317 X9-465.

They are equipped with YaMZ-6585 or YaMZ-651.10 diesel engines. Load capacity ranges from 14.35 to 20.8 tons.

Truck cranes on MAZ chassis

The design of ready-made truck cranes sold by the Minsk Automobile Plant includes a MAZ chassis and a crane of the Belarusian brand “Masheka” installed on it. The cranes are equipped with axial piston pumps, which are driven by the base chassis engine through a power take-off system.

Truck cranes have lifting and turning mechanisms with planetary winches. Hydraulic retractable supports are placed on the lower frame to ensure machine stability during operation. The device operates smoothly throughout the entire speed range, thanks to the use of an independently controlled hydraulic drive. Truck cranes are equipped with built-in unit fault sensors, the data from which is displayed on the display of the operator of special equipment.

The largest mass of transportable cargo, as well as removable load-handling devices of truck cranes based on the MAZ chassis, is up to 25 tons (model KS-55727). The length of the boom is determined by the reach of the crane boom and is indicated for two extreme positions: maximum (28.08 m in KS-55727) and minimum (8.05 m in KS-45729-3-02). Reach is the distance between the vertical axis of the hook suspension and the axis of rotation of the truck crane; it ranges from 2 to 20 meters.

The truck cranes sold by the Minsk Automobile Plant are installed on a biaxial chassis with a 4x2 wheel arrangement (MAZ-5337), or on a three-axle chassis with a 6x4 or 6x6 wheel arrangement (MAZ-6317).

MAZ metal trucks, with LIV or Epsilon hydraulic manipulators

The specialized MAZ metal truck is equipped with a large-volume dump truck with high sides and a rear hinged door.
