Various cranes are used to move cargo in space. Including pavements. They have various gripping devices (bucket, magnet and others).

The gripping device can be located on a mobile trolley or hoist. The trolley moves on a bridge made of high-strength steel.

Types of overhead cranes

By design they are classified into:

  • Hanging models;
  • Support models that move on rails located in fixed supports, and some others.

Based on the weight of the load being lifted, they are classified into groups:

  • The first - up to 5 tons;
  • The second - up to 50 tons;
  • The third - up to 300-320 tons.

Depending on the purpose there are:

  • General models - for standard lifting operations;
  • Special models.

Depending on the drive, there are:

  • Using the physical effort of the operator to move the winch to perform assigned tasks;
  • Electric - uses the energy of an electric motor.

Depending on the type of movement there are:

  • Single beam;
  • Double beam. Their design is more reliable, stable, less subject to wear, and the load rises to a greater height.

General design and purpose of overhead cranes

Each model has three main components:

  • The metal structure is the base, including the supports and spans of the crane. When designing a model, a cross-section is selected - lattice or box-shaped;
  • Grasping device. It can be automatic (spreader, pneumatic suction cup, magnet), mechanical (hook);
  • Lifting mechanism - winch, chain or rope with a fixed gripping device. For operational safety, travel limiters are provided.

Any crane model repeats the same operations: the load is fixed, moved, unloaded, then the crane returns to its original position.

The bridge structure has stops at the ends - limiters for blocking the moving cart.

For greater stability and uniform load distribution, the span beam has large and small diaphragms. Special platforms are also installed, which are necessary for repair and maintenance of the crane.

Assembly diagrams for components are usually unified for many types of cranes.

When the crane is operating, a trolley moves along the rails, the weight of which is usually from 0.2 to 0.4 of the crane's lifting capacity.

Movement occurs using a movement mechanism with cylindrical or conical wheels. In this case, the central drive can be on both wheels at once or separately. The mechanism has a mounted gearbox and a brake.

Overhead crane application

They are widely used in lifting loads, both indoors and outdoors. They can operate in a very wide temperature range from –20 C to +40 C.

Operation of taps is not allowed in rooms with high humidity, when the atmosphere is saturated with vapors of alkalis and acids. They should also not be used in fire or explosive environments.

Wherein:

  • Manual suspended and support bridge models are used in the absence of an electric current supply or in small areas;
  • Electric support and suspension models are in demand for frequent use, in large rooms, in workshops, in warehouses;
  • Models equipped with grabs are used when working with bulk cargo;
  • Electric, overhead overhead cranes are typically used when lifting magnetic loads.

Design features of double-girder bridge cranes

An electric double-girder overhead crane is a structure made in the form of 2 span beams with a lifting mechanism (telpher, winch).
This type of tap can be used both in open and indoor spaces, under different climatic conditions. The crane can be controlled from a pendant console (from the floor), using radio control, a stationary or mobile cabin.

On a note!

When a crane is radio controlled without maintaining backup control from a pendant console, cranes up to 10 tons (inclusive) also become supervised and require registration.

The design of a double-girder overhead crane is similar to that of a single-girder crane. What is distinctive is the span structure of the crane - there are two of them. Due to the design of the crane, the lifting mechanism is not suspended from the span beam, but is installed on a special crane trolley that moves along the span structure on special rails. Like the crane itself, the crane trolley has its own gear motors and can be equipped with frequency converters and several travel speeds.

Main components of the crane

The electric overhead support crane consists of the following main components: span beam (1); end beams (2) - 2 pieces; electrical cabinet (3); hoist buffers (4) assembled with damper - 2 pieces; electric hoist - in Fig. not shown. The crane can be supplied with a hoist or without a hoist - as agreed.

The span beam is an I-beam but can be designed in different ways depending on the span of the crane to provide the required stiffness and strength for the crane. The buffers of hoist 4 are secured to the span beam using bolted connections. The span and end beams are connected to each other using bolted connections.

The end beam is a welded pipe structure and is equipped with two axle boxes: drive and non-drive. A non-drive axlebox differs from a driven one in that it has an axle instead of a shaft. Brackets for fastening the string and electrical equipment, and a bracket for fastening the gear motor are welded to the end beam pipe. Rubber buffers are installed at the ends of the end beam to limit the movement of the crane.

The diagram also shows a string (5), a brace post (6) - 4 pieces, a brace (7) - 4 pieces, a cable (8). Positions 9 to 19 - bolts, nuts, washers.

The electrical equipment of the crane consists of electric motors, gear motors, control and protective equipment, and current supply. The main ballast and protective equipment of the crane is located in the control cabinet of the electric hoist with which the crane is equipped.
