To transport work crews to the site of construction work, when the capabilities of a regular bus are not enough, NEFAZ 4208 comes to the rescue with an improved version of itself.

Shift buses of the latest year of production are distinguished by increased technical characteristics. They are specially designed for movement in all weather and climatic conditions.

The constant modernization of the NEFAZ 4208 all-wheel drive bus since 1989 has resulted in a perfect vehicle.

The most famous models of this series are produced with the NEFAZ 4208 11-13 configuration, with 24 passenger seats (22 + 2 in the driver’s cabin) and a power of 240 hp.

Separately, it is worth noting the NEFAZ 4208 24 generation with a power of 280 hp. and different numbers of seats. The configuration with markings 10 or 11 has a passenger capacity of 20 or 22 seats, respectively. Designations 8 or 9 include 16 passenger seats.

The mini-variant NEFAZ 4208 03, which is rightly called municipal equipment, includes only 8 passenger seats. It is particularly compact, but, nevertheless, its declared power reaches 260 horsepower.

A special small-class bus is designed to transport a small number of workers (shift workers, fishermen or hunters). There is only a natural ventilation system here, but this makes the functionality of the presented model no worse than the NEFAZ 4208 11 13 crew bus with a turbofan.

Main technical characteristics

The dimensions of each model from this series may differ slightly, but the average dimensions are as follows - 8.5 * 2.5 * 3.3 m. The maximum speed that the bus reaches is up to 85 km/h. Fuel tanks are located on the right and left sides of the chassis.

A manual 5-speed gearbox is what you need to select speed in conditions of constant variability of road conditions. Manual transmission and dry double-disc clutch are a guarantee of strength and reliability. The risk that the bus will get stuck on the way to the work site is minimized, since the road rise can be as steep as 31%.

If the first models had a built-in engine that met Euro 1 standards, now its functionality is focused on the environmental class Euro 4 and even Euro 5.

Externally, the body has the appearance of a closed van. The main door is located on the right side and has a low entrance, and there is also an emergency exit (hatch) in case of unforeseen circumstances. Single doors open outwards for complete convenience. A spare wheel is installed on the rear wall of the outer side.

PURPOSE AND TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CAR

NefAZ 4208
is a special bus that served as the basis for the production of more than 20 different modifications of superstructures similar to it. The superstructure is installed on the KamAZ 43101-43114 chassis. Thanks to the 6x6 wheel arrangement and the KamAZ 740.10-20 diesel engine (the vehicles are equipped with more modern and powerful versions of engines), the bus has high cross-country ability. Base length 3340 mm (for superstructures with an increased number of passenger seats in the body, the base increases by 1320 mm). Engine power of 220-260 l/s allows the car to reach speeds of up to 85 km/h. In addition, the car is equipped with a winch.

The machine is equipped with a five-speed three-way manual transmission. The torque is distributed by the transfer case between the constantly running front and rear wheels of the car using a planetary-type center differential and a two-way gearbox. The differential is equipped with pneumatic locking.

Inside the cabin

Soft safety seats with a fixed backrest and tilt adjustment, as well as two or three-point seat belts are an excellent solution for transporting workers.

The folding table, which is located opposite the main entrance to the salon, is convenient to use for a snack. Moreover, there is an intercom in the cabin for communication with the driver’s cabin, as well as a radio receiver. Excellent thermal insulation keeps the cabin warm throughout the entire transport of workers.

Double glass windows with tempered glazing have received excellent recommendations for protection against damage, thereby providing additional proof of safety.

ROLL BUS “LUX”


The NEFAZ 4208 rotation buses on the KAMAZ 43114 chassis have all-wheel drive (6x6), the passenger compartment can accommodate 22 passengers.
Heating of the passenger compartment is autonomous, using an OV-65 heater installed under the door step. Additionally, the cabin of the rotation bus is heated by a liquid heater connected to the engine cooling system.

Entrance to the crew bus interior is through a low-entry door located on the right side. Emergency exits are a ventilation hatch in the roof of the cabin and an additional door at the end of the cabin.

The cabin of the rotation bus is equipped with 11 paired seats with adjustable backrest angles. All seats are equipped with lap seat belts.

Opposite the main entrance to the shift cabin there is a folding table. The cabin of the rotation bus is equipped with a communication system with the driver's cabin.

Possible modifications to the rotation bus

The interior windows of the rotation bus can be additionally tinted with special films or retractable roller blinds. For operation in areas with difficult climatic conditions, the rotation bus can be equipped with an air conditioning system (compressor drive from the transmission), or additional interior and cabin heaters (Planar, Webasto).

Body

The space behind the cab and to the end of the chassis is occupied by a thermally insulated closed body. The body and interior of the NefAZ-4208-11-13 vehicle is equipped with soft, injury-proof, non-removable seats with a non-adjustable backrest.

The seats are equipped with seat belts. The body of the NefAZ-4208-11-13 car on the right side is equipped with two doors, one of which is emergency.

Where is it used?

The domestic truck of the well-known and iconic KamAZ brand is used as the base chassis.

The 6x6 wheel arrangement, a centralized tire inflation system, differential locking systems, the possibility of equipping with a winch - all this gives the NefAZ-4208-11-13 rotation vehicle excellent cross-country ability.

The use of such a machine is relevant when carrying out emergency repair and restoration work. It is also noteworthy that NefAZ-4208-11-13 vehicles are in the service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, where they are used for high-speed delivery of personnel to places affected by natural disasters.

The car's springs are semi-elliptical: the front spring has sliding rear ends with reliable shock absorbers, the rear balancer has the same ends, and has reaction rods.
The vehicle axles can withstand the load: front – 4640 kg and rear – 7860 kg, respectively, the wheels of the car are automatically inflated. A complex system of brake mechanisms ensures the safe movement of the NefAZ 4208 bus in various conditions. All models are equipped with a motor retarder with a pneumatic drive. The retarder plays the role of an auxiliary brake in critical driving situations.

The vehicle is equipped with two fuel tanks with a capacity of 210 liters, which increases the possibility of its operation on roads along which there is no developed infrastructure. The total weight of NefAZ 4208 is 13610 kg.

OPERATING FEATURES

The vehicle was designed to transport shift workers, hunters and fishermen, and deliver rescue teams to places of emergency and recovery work, so a superstructure, for example, such as NefAZ-4208-03, was designed to transport 20-22 people.
More modern versions of the bus make it possible to transport up to 29 people; the interior of the superstructure is equipped at the request of the customer. The interior of the NefAZ 4208 body is equipped with soft, non-removable double seats equipped with seat belts. The seats are not adjustable in height or tilt. There is one door on the right side of the body. On modifications with a larger interior capacity, a second door is installed due to an increase in the rear overhang of the body. Car dimensions: length 7565 mm, height – 3280 mm, width – 2500 mm.

The NefAZ 4208 bus is used to operate in the Far North, so the closed-type interior has good thermal insulation and double glazing with tempered glass.
There is a special intercom for communication between the driver's cabin and the superstructure. Superstructures are available with two types of heating systems. The main one is powered by a liquid heater, and the spare (emergency) is connected to the liquid cooling system of the engine and the main heating system. The interior of the NefAZ 4208 rotation bus has a double ventilation system for comfortable transportation of workers in the summer. Air intake occurs through retractable vents in the bus windows and a sunroof, as well as using a forced ventilation system, for which air intakes with turbofans are installed on top of the body.

The price of a NefAZ 4208 bus on the secondary market, depending on the condition, varies from 900 to 2000 thousand rubles. New cars cost from 2600 to 3500 thousand. EQUIPMENT OF SPECIAL VEHICLES The ASO-20 superstructure is installed on a chassis with the same technical characteristics as the NefAZ 4208 bus. This vehicle is designed to deliver fire crews, as well as special communication and lighting equipment, to the site of a fire in complex, hard-to-reach places. The vehicle is equipped with smoke exhausters and a Gnome pump for pumping out water. Negotiations between the interior and the cabin of the car are carried out via an intercom; there is a radio station for communication in order to coordinate the actions of the crew. The lighting mast that comes with the car extends 8 meters from the ground using a hand winch. The two spotlights on the mast are controlled using a remote electric drive. To operate floodlights and various electrical equipment, the ASO-20 NefAZ 4208 is equipped with a 20 kW electric generator. It produces a voltage of 400-230 V.

A lifting crane is installed on the machine. The 240 l/s engine allows the car to reach speeds of up to 80 km/h on a flat road. NefAZ 4208 delivers three people in the cabin and eight in the back of the cabin to the fire site. Under the body there are retractable pallets for storing rescue equipment and various working tools for clearing debris, as well as for transporting protective equipment of the fire crew. In the event of heavy smoke at the fire site, breathing apparatus is available for firefighters in the vehicle interior.
