Flatbed trucks

These are universal KAMAZ trailers, which, based on their load capacity and length, can be used for transporting small loads or transporting goods in large quantities. Often, flatbed semi-trailers are needed for cargo delivery where high demands are not placed on the transportation process. Special equipment was created to save resources. Among the onboard specimens there are also grain carriers.

The main advantages of flatbed semi-trailers include:

  • Uniform securing of the transported cargo;
  • Four-axis design, which ensures safe transportation;
  • The presence of a tent shield (this way the goods are kept dry).

The famous model NEFAZ-8332-01 has two axles, a load capacity of up to 12,000 kg and a volume of 28 cubic meters. KAMAZ 65207 is a large-capacity truck (up to 15 tons of luggage) with a 6x4 wheel formula.

Thermal vans

Isothermal vans are used to transport goods that require special temperature conditions. These are frozen food, flowers, etc. The thermal booth maintains the internal microclimate at any ambient temperature.

The van is made of several panels. Inside the panel there is polyurethane foam. This reduces the thermal conductivity of body surfaces and creates a thermos effect. The vans are equipped with a forced ventilation system. It is carried out through holes in the walls and roof of the thermal booth. The doors are equipped with a seal located around the perimeter.

The Kama Automobile Plant, which produces the world-famous KamAZ trucks, is one of the most successful Russian enterprises.

We will soon celebrate the 40th anniversary of the launch of the conveyor - the first flatbed KamAZ-5320 was assembled in February 1976. Since then, more than two million trucks have been produced.

The KamAZ model range includes a huge number of different vehicles - basic models and their modifications. To be precise, their number is just over 100. It would seem that it is very difficult to deal with all this diversity, but all KamAZ products can be divided into the following classes:

  • flatbed vehicles;
  • dump trucks;
  • tractor units;
  • chassis.

It would not be amiss to note that KamAZ also produces tractors, buses, special equipment, armored vehicles, engines and spare parts.

The domestic compact hatchback “Oka” was also developed at the Kama Automobile Plant.

Classification of KamAZ vehicles

Understanding the technical characteristics and carrying capacity of KamAZ vehicles is, in fact, not as difficult as it seems, since they are all marked according to the industry standard OH 025270-66, which was introduced back in 1966.

It is enough to take any KamAZ vehicle and look at its digital designation - index.

The first digit indicates the total weight of the vehicle:

  • 1 - up to 1.2 tons;
  • 2 - up to two tons;
  • 3 - up to eight tons;
  • 4 - up to 14 tons;
  • 5 - up to 20 tons;
  • 6 - from 20 to 40 tons;
  • 7 - from forty tons.

The second digit in the index indicates the scope and type of vehicle:

  • 3 — on-board vehicles;
  • 4 - tractors;
  • 5 — dump trucks;
  • 6 - tanks;
  • 7 - vans;
  • 9 - special purpose vehicles.

Knowing the meaning of these indices, you can easily figure out this or that modification, not only KamAZ, but also ZIL, GAZ, MAZ (ZIL-130 or GAZ-53 were marked according to an earlier classification, which was in effect until 1966). After the first two digits there are digital designations of the serial model number, and the modification number is added after a dash.

For example, the very first KamAZ 5320 is an onboard truck, the total weight of which is between 14 and 20 tons. Gross weight is the weight of the vehicle with passengers, a full tank, full equipment and payload.

Loading capacity of KamAZ onboard vehicles

Currently, about 20 models of flatbed trucks are produced, a large number have also been discontinued. Basic models and modifications:

  • KamAZ 4308: total weight is 11,500 kg, load capacity is five and a half tons. 4308-6037-28, 4308-6083-28, 4308-6067-28, 4308-6063-28 - 5.48 t;
  • KamAZ 43114: total weight - 15450 kg, load capacity - 6090 kg. This model has modifications: 43114 027-02 and 43114 029-02. The load capacity is the same;
  • KamAZ 43118: 20700/10000 (gross weight/load capacity). Modifications: 43118 011-10, 43118 011-13. More modern modifications: 43118-6013-46 and 43118-6012-46 with a lifting capacity of 11.22 tons;
  • KamAZ 4326 - 11600/3275. Modifications: 4326 032-02, 4326 033-02, 4326 033-15;
  • KamAZ 4355 - 20700/10000. This model belongs to the Mustang family and is distinguished by the fact that the cabin is located behind the engine, that is, it has a two-volume layout - a protruding hood and the cabin itself;
  • KamAZ 53215 - 19650/11000. Modifications: 040-15, 050-13, 050-15.
  • KamAZ 65117 and 65117 029 (onboard tractor) - 23050/14000.

Among the flatbed trucks, off-road flatbed vehicles are included in a separate group, which are used for the needs of the army and for working in difficult conditions:

  • KamAZ 4310 - 14500/6000;
  • KamAZ 43502 6024-45 and 43502 6023-45 with a lifting capacity of 4 tons;
  • KamAZ 5350 16000/8000.

Dump trucks are the largest and most popular group of KamAZ vehicles, numbering about forty models and their modifications. It is also worth saying that there are both dump trucks in the usual sense of the word and side dump trucks (with folding sides) and therefore the index 3 is present in their markings.

Loading capacity of KamAZ truck tractors

Truck tractors are designed for transporting different types of semi-trailers: flatbed, tilt, isothermal. The coupling occurs using a kingpin and a saddle, which has a hole for fixing the kingpin. The characteristics indicate both the total weight of the semi-trailer that the tractor can pull and the load directly on the saddle.

Tractor units (basic models):

  • KamAZ 44108 - 8850/23000 (curb weight and gross trailer weight). That is, this tractor can pull a trailer weighing 23 tons. The weight of the road train is also indicated - 32 tons, that is, the weight of the semi-trailer and trailer;
  • KamAZ 54115 - 7400/32000 (road train weight);

Tractors are used for a variety of needs; they are also produced by army order for transporting military equipment, which weighs a lot.

KamAZ special purpose vehicles

KamAZ chassis have a very wide range of applications; they are used both for transporting road trains and for installing various equipment on them (cranes, manipulators, on-board platforms, anti-aircraft missile systems, and so on). Among the chassis we can see platforms based on almost all of the above mentioned basic KamAZ models 43114, 43118, 4326, 6520, 6540, 55111, 65111.

There are also KamAZ shift buses - a specially adapted booth is installed on a tractor chassis. The basic models are KamAZ 4208 and 42111, designed for 22 seats plus two seats for passengers in the cabin.

KamAZ platforms are used for many other needs:

These KAMAZ trucks are piecework designs that have their own axles. Although, a small part of their weight is transferred to the tractor unit, to which they are connected thanks to a coupling device. Container ships include a semi-trailer of 9 meters, with the index 4326-9, 5410 and others.

The famous model is NEFAZ 93341-07 High Cube. This vehicle has a load capacity of up to 34,080 kg and air suspension.

Modifications of KamAZ-5410

In order to maximize the functional resources of the KamAZ-5410 tractor, as well as to ensure the possibility of its use in any climatic conditions, the Kama Automobile Plant produced this vehicle in several modifications:

  • the hydropowered version of KamAZ-5410 was intended to work with special-purpose semi-trailers;
  • modifications 5410, 54112 Tropical - for use in hot regions;
  • version 54112ХЛ – for operation in conditions of extremely low temperatures;
  • KamAZ- 54101 – modification with special hydraulic equipment for transporting the semi-trailer-dump truck GKB-9575 with a load capacity of 13.5 tons;

KamAZ-54101

  • Modification with index 54102 , characterized by the ability to withstand loads on double drive axles within 14 tons. Designed to work with the OdAZ-9385 flatbed semi-trailer.

Before purchasing a KAMAZ semi-trailer, you should decide which model to buy. After all, there is a truck with a manipulator or other devices. It is important to consider the scope of use of such equipment, the specifics of the product and other transportation features.

Of course, at the time of purchase it is worth finding out what the permissible total weight, volume, and so on are. The cost of the equipment also depends on such parameters.

Despite the outstanding performance qualities of the KamAZ-5410, one should not forget about its advanced age. The car was produced for 30 years, plus more than 10 years have passed since its production ceased. And although there are still enough offers for the sale of this model on the secondary market, there are not so many people willing to buy it. This is explained by the fact that in normal condition it is practically impossible to find such a truck, plus, outdated engine modifications do not meet any environmental standards.

As a result, sellers are forced to reduce prices for this car to a minimum. Thus, the cost of modifications from the 80s varies between 180-200 thousand rubles, the price range of cars from the 90s ranges from 300 to 500 thousand rubles, and for newer models they ask from 600 thousand to 1 million rubles.
