Then where are the saws produced that are sold today under the name Taiga? We can definitely say that they are made in China, but who imports them into our country is unknown. These chainsaws do not have an official website, service centers, in general, there is no reliable information about who should be responsible for quality.

Their Chinese origin can be determined by their appearance, body and engine details. Many people probably know the “Gypsy” chainsaw, but here are the Taiga saws, one of its varieties, only with a different color.

Let us immediately make a reservation that this information is not official, conclusions are drawn based on comparison.

Appearance and equipment

The design of Taiga chainsaws is as simple as possible, as is the design. The color of saws is mainly green, but there are models painted in red and orange. Standard delivery contents:

1. Saw set.

3. Plastic measuring canister for preparing the mixture.

5. Protective glasses.

According to user reviews, the saw set that comes with the chainsaw is of very poor quality; after just a few days of use, it needs to be changed.

Taiga chainsaw design

All saws have an anti-vibration system, which is implemented by installing shock absorbers. Depending on the model of the Taiga chainsaw, shock absorbers can be rubber or metal.

Let us immediately note that they are interchangeable, i.e. If you bought a saw with rubber ones, you can install metal ones from another model yourself. In principle, this applies not only to shock absorbers, but also to the body and some engine parts.

The difference between Taiga chainsaw engines is the volume of the CPG, or rather the size of the piston group. The larger the piston diameter, the larger the engine volume and, accordingly, the higher the power of the chainsaw.

All Taiga saws have a metal oil pump with manual adjustment. During operation, oil is supplied to the tire automatically, dosed in proportion to the increase in speed of the drive sprocket.

The most famous Taiga chainsaw is the TBP 4000 model.

Its power is 4 kW, piston volume is 58 cm 3. It copes well with sawing trees with a diameter of up to 70 cm. The length of the bar that comes in the kit is 45 cm. The power of the chainsaw is enough to install a longer headset, for example, 50 cm.

The chain has a pitch of 3/8, link thickness is 1.5 mm. If properly converted, you can install chains with a pitch of 0.325 and a width of 1.6 mm, which will increase the cutting speed, but reduce its quality.

The fuel tank is approximately 0.5 liters. A full charge is enough for 30-40 minutes of continuous operation. The saw is not economical, but when compared with other Chinese saws, the consumption is normal.

The chainsaw is heavy and cannot be used with outstretched arms, so it is not recommended for cutting tree branches. It is suitable for those who need a chainsaw to prepare firewood themselves. It is comfortable to cut trees 30-40 cm thick; anything thicker is difficult to cut.

Another chainsaw that is sold under the Taiga brand is TBP-4500.

There is no particular difference with the previous model. The main difference is the motor power, which is 500 W more. Also, as standard, the saw comes with another saw set, which has a chain pitch of 0.325.

Due to a little more power and a different chain, the TBP-4500 is easier to cut through thick trees, but the difference is not particularly noticeable.

Externally, it is almost impossible to distinguish the TBP-4000 and TBP-4500 models, because they have the same dimensions, color, body details. Also, if necessary, you can install a piston group on one chainsaw from another, thereby adding or reducing power.

The BP-3850 chainsaw is slightly different in appearance from previous models, but there are no design differences.

Frequent malfunctions

4. The saw runs at idle, but stalls when you press the gas. Reasons: clogged main chamber injector valve, clogged fuel line, air leak into the carburetor.
5. The chain rotates constantly. Reasons: clutch spring burst, increased idle speed as a result of incorrect carburetor adjustment.
6. The saw spontaneously increases speed when changing its position in space. Causes: rear shock absorber is torn, carburetor is incorrectly adjusted (not enough fuel).

Malfunctions and their elimination

The Taiga TBP 4000 chainsaw is relatively reliable, but there are still malfunctions that periodically arise with this particular tool. These include frequent breakage of the clutch spring. It can be eliminated by replacing the clutch assembly, since buying a spring separately is quite simple.

To replace, you need to do the following:

1. Remove the top housing cover and unscrew the spark plug.
2. Install a piston stopper into the spark plug hole. If there is no stopper, you can use an old string as one, tie knots on it and lower it into the combustion chamber through the spark plug hole.
3. Remove the side cover and saw bar.
4. Using a hammer and a metal drift, unscrew the clutch;

Having removed the clutch, it must be installed in the reverse order, and it must be tightened with maximum force, this will help to avoid spontaneous unwinding. The first start of the Taiga 4000 chainsaw after repair must be carried out with the side cover and tire installed, and the saw chain brake must be turned on, this will allow the clutch to finally tighten.

Another specific breakdown of the Taiga is a burst shock absorber of the anti-vibration system. The handle is the tank of the saw, attached to the engine crankcase using three metal shock absorbers.

If any of the shock absorbers breaks down, you must stop working until the defective part is replaced. The fact is that when working with a burst shock absorber, the saw can vibrate strongly and spontaneously increase the gas, which is completely unsafe.

Two years ago, I bought a Taiga TBP - 4000 chainsaw. The seller recommended it to me. According to him, this is a high-quality Russian-made chainsaw. Later, I found out that this was not so, I was simply deceived. There are no complaints about the work of the saw, but the quality of the body parts did not please me at all. The plastic is cheap, and over time it began to warp, especially the side cover that presses the tire. I don’t work with the saw a lot, it cuts normally, there’s enough power. Almost as soon as I started working, I noticed that the tip of the tire was getting very hot. I tried to lubricate it, but it didn't work. As a result, the sprocket on the tire jammed and the headset had to be replaced. So far, there have been no more problems with the saw, but it seems to me that this will not last long. Two years ago my old chainsaw broke. I decided not to repair it and buy a new one. Before buying, I consulted with a friend, he said that he uses a Taiga BP 3850 chainsaw and likes it. The chainsaw is quite powerful and cuts well, but its quality is very low. It seems that the manufacturer saved on everything. The plastic is fragile and breaks in the cold. The final adjustment is carried out with the engine running and warm, and the ratio of the composition and quantity of the fuel mixture is changed with screws.

Low-power modifications have a limited service life, low weight and size. They are designed to operate in a country house, in a garden or in the courtyard of a country house; they can work continuously for no more than an hour, but are lighter in weight and more economical.

Semi-professional Taiga chainsaws can operate up to eight hours a day. They are used to fell small trees and cut almost any wood. Industrial models are designed to work for 15-16 hours. At the same time, domestic saws are made taking into account the characteristics of a difficult and harsh climate. Compared to foreign-made analogues, this tool has a reasonable price.
