Power unit
The excavator is equipped with an engine of its own production.
- This is a water-cooled inline six-cylinder diesel engine.
- It is equipped with a turbine and an intermediate heat exchanger to cool the air blown into the cylinders.
- Electronics controls the operation of the engine. The ADEM A4 control unit doses fuel, reducing exhaust emissions and increasing power output.

The manufacturer indicates fuel consumption in 3 modes: light, medium and heavily loaded. Fuel consumption is in the range: 30.3-43.1; 43.1-56.4; 56.4-69.3 l/hour, respectively.
The engine cooling system is equipped with a remote radiator and a hydraulically driven fan. Air intake occurs through a membrane filter located on the rear side of the cabin.
The operator sets the operating modes of the engine using the on-screen menu on the digital display.
Hydraulic system
All power actuators in the excavator are hydraulically driven. The pressure in the system is created by two oil pumps with a total capacity of 558 l/min. The compact placement of components made it possible to reduce the total length of the high-pressure hoses and increase the efficiency of the excavator.
Due to constant pumping and high ambient temperatures, the hydraulic system is equipped with sensors that record the degree of heating.
Dimensions
The Caterpillar's parameters in terms of size cannot be called modest. Massive handles and booms are designed for excavating soil at a considerable distance (by the standards of excavator equipment) from the machine. Thus, the manufacturer indicates that the bucket can go deep to a distance of up to 8 m, and rise for loading up to 7.6 m.

On the right side of the cabin there is a pump compartment - from it access to the pump and filter of the control circuit is provided. On the left side of the rotating cab is a radiator compartment that allows servicing of the heat exchanger, low-cooler and air-to-air cooler. The radiator is equipped with an additional tank and a drain valve.
A capsule filter is located outside the hydraulic tank: it protects the hydraulic system from the entry of foreign substances during the process of changing hydraulic oil. The lubrication block is located on the excavator boom, which allows the lubricant to be distributed into hard-to-reach areas of the front of the machine.
It is possible to carry out diagnostics and control the level of operating fluids using special valves for regular sampling and sampling.
The Cat 336D L crawler can work with a wide range of work tools. Excavator buckets are available for various purposes (for lightly compressed, medium-abrasive materials, for severe operating conditions, reinforced, rock); hydraulic shears; hammer; capture; seal; multiplexer; chopper; ripper, etc.

Layout
The Caterpillar 336 is built according to the classic design for tracked vehicles. A rotating platform with a cabin and earth-moving equipment is installed on the chassis. The excavator is driven by hydraulic displacement motors driven by oil pumps.
The design of the machine is thought out to the smallest detail: access to the working mechanisms is free and maintenance or repair does not cause any difficulties for personnel.
Cabin
The operator's workplace was made comfortable.
- The cabin frame is fixed to the turntable through rubber-metal shock absorbers.
- The controls are placed under the operator’s right hand.
- On the left side there are only climate control controls and the hydraulic system activation lever. The latter is a safety system component that prevents spontaneous initiation of actuators.
The excavator is equipped with a comfortable sprung seat with the possibility of electric heating. The seat can be adjusted in three planes, which allows it to be adjusted to the physiological parameters of the operator.
