The CHETRA T-40 bulldozer is assembled at the sites of Promtractor OJSC. As standard, the model has an operating weight of 62,970 kg (SU blade and single-shank ripper). The tractor, equipped with a three-shank ripper, weighs 65,140 kg. The model receives the required power from the Cummins QSK19-C650 engine. This is a 590-horsepower turbocharged unit, the charge air is cooled using the air-to-air type. Fuel injection, as well as engine diagnostics/control, is carried out by the Quantum electronic system. It is worth noting that the bulldozer is equipped with a German AKG monolithic radiator made of aluminum.

The bulldozer is equipped with an Eberspächer liquid heater with automatic control for preheating the cabin and engine. In addition to the fact that this pre-start heater ensures easy starting of the diesel engine in frosty weather, it increases the service life of the power plant. By the way, the Cummins QSK19-C650 engine complies with the Tier 2 environmental standard.

    Transmission of bulldozer CHETRA T-40

The CHETRA T-40 crawler tractor is equipped with a hydromechanical transmission. In terms of the design of components such as side clutches and stopping brakes, the T-40 is unified with the T-25 and T-35 bulldozers. These components are technologically similar, the difference is in the number of installed disks (cermet and steel). In addition, when designing transmission units, preference was given to the modular principle (one of the advantages is simplified maintenance). And such a characteristic as the service life of the bulldozer gearbox before overhaul exceeds 15 thousand operating hours (also manufactured according to a modular design).

The manufacturer has developed a new hydraulic control system especially for the CHETRA T-40 bulldozer. It is seriously different from previously used schemes. The gears in the gearbox are engaged by a smooth increase in pressure in the boosters, due to which starting and shifting also became smooth, without unnecessary jolts.

The planetary gearbox (clutches with a diameter of up to 455 mm operate in oil), the matching gearbox and the main gear are a single power unit, which is located in the rear axle housing. A single-stage 3-element torque converter (its active diameter is 480 mm, and the maximum coefficient Ko = 2.64) is part of a single unit with a pump drive gearbox and is installed on the engine. It is connected to the engine flywheel using an elastic coupling, and to the gearbox through a cardan drive. The method of controlling transmission units is electro-hydraulic, using a microprocessor. The controls are joysticks located in the bulldozer cabin.

    Reliability

Chetra bulldozers rightfully have a reputation as reliable, durable and high-quality Russian equipment. However, if parts need to be replaced, the interchangeability of components from other Chetra equipment makes it easier to find spare parts during repairs. It is impossible not to notice that the manufacturer, to modernize the equipment, uses developments and individual machine components from other Russian and foreign factories to improve bulldozers, reduce operating costs, ensure continuous operation and operator comfort.

Characteristics of the CHETRA T-40 chassis system

A special feature of the CHETRA T-40 tractor is its slantless suspension system. The bulldozer suspension is three-point semi-rigid with a remote bogie swing axis. The support rollers are mounted on oscillating carriages in pairs with micro-sprung carriages. A transverse balancing beam with shock absorbers and telescopic trolleys are installed. It should be noted that the T-40 is the first heavy CHETRA model to use this type of suspension. Characteristics: reduced dynamic loads on the elements of the bulldozer, a larger area of adhesion between the caterpillar and the ground, smooth running.

The drive wheels (include 5 segments with 5 teeth) are made of highly hardenable structural alloy steel, which ensures a long service life. To replace one of the segments, it is not necessary to remove the track and track carriage.

The rollers of the CHETRA T-40 tractor (both supporting and supporting), as well as the guide wheels, do not require lubrication during operation; self-clamping double-cone type seals are used. A grease syringe is used to adjust track tension.

    Caterpillar

The use of a new running system on the CHETRA T40 tractor significantly reduces dynamic loads on the components and systems of the machine, ensures smooth running, improves the driver’s working conditions and increases productivity by increasing the traction area of the caterpillar with the ground.

The tracks of the bulldozer T-4001 (K280-22-000-03SB) are prefabricated with one lug and a seal to hold liquid lubricant in the hinge. Track tension is easily adjusted with a grease gun.

    Hydraulic system

The hydraulic system is a separate unit. Such a characteristic of CHETRA T-40 as the total productivity of gear pumps (there are three in total) is 550 l/min (calculated at an engine speed of 2,100 rpm). Two spool valves are responsible for raising and changing the angle of the blade and ripper tooth. Moreover, they are controlled remotely by a hydraulic servo control system. It is worth noting that the safety valve of the hydraulic system operates at a maximum pressure of 20 MPa (200 kgf/cm2).
