DZ-99: technical characteristics, review, description

The design of the DZ-143 motor grader is distinguished by the presence of a block-type brake system equipped with a hydraulic drive. This technique is used to create embankments and shafts, for profiling slopes, leveling the subgrade, forming a cross-section of ditches, removing old asphalt, etc.

Engine

The equipment of the DZ-99 differed depending on the modification. In particular, two engine options were available - AM-41G or D60K-S1. Diesel power units differed in power: the first was capable of developing 90 hp, the second - only 60 “horses”.

AM-41 is a four-stroke diesel engine, which was started using a PD-10U gasoline engine. The cooling system is liquid.

Motor grader DZ-99: modifications

The DZ-99 motor grader was produced in several modifications:

  • DZ-99-1-1 with minor design modifications;
  • DZ-99-1-2 with minor modifications;
  • DZ-99-1-4 with minor modifications;
  • DZ-99A - modified version;
  • DZ-99A-1-1;
  • DZ-99A-1-2;
  • DZ-99A-1-4;
  • DZ-99-2-2;
  • DZ-99-2-4.

The equipment was unified in terms of key indicators. Had the same power units and performance characteristics.

Specifications

The rear wheels of the grader were driven (in addition, they could tilt in both directions), the front wheels were steered. The main frame structure was welded. The front frame was made of a box-section beam and was connected to the main frame by a hinge in the middle part. This ensured that the front axle swung relative to the main frame of the machine. The hydraulic cylinder was responsible for tilting the wheels.

Clutch type: dry double-disc. The clutch was released mechanically using a pedal, which was installed in the driver's cab. There was a mechanical three-shaft gearbox model U35606-2. Two gear ranges were available (work and transport), each with three forward and one reverse gears. Gear shifting was done using a lever. Cardan transmission is open type.

A few words about the braking system. The design of the motor grader included shoe-type wheel (foot) brakes and a band-type parking (hand) brake. The two rear wheels were equipped with hydraulic drive. The wheel brakes were actuated by a master cylinder, which was controlled from the cab via the brake pedal.

Now let's talk about the electrical system. The rated voltage was 12V, the source of electricity (direct current) was a generator (with a relay generator) and a battery. Most electrical appliances were connected using a single-wire circuit. The exceptions were the sound signal, the gearbox oil pressure indicator and the warning lamp.

DZ-168

The hydraulic grader DZ-168 is a technique that is designed for construction work, for repair and maintenance of dirt roads, and for grading rice paddies.

The design of this vehicle includes a tractor and a semi-trailer, which are connected to each other using a pin. Raising and lowering of a grader-type blade occurs due to the operation of special levers. All control is carried out from the driver’s cabin, which contains devices responsible for rotating the blade, changing the angle of the soil cut, and extending the working element.

The following attachments can be used: balancers, additional wheel mechanisms, ripper - pickaxe, snow blower.

This model has a number of advantages:

  • high level of unit mobility;
  • reliability of design;
  • low fuel consumption;
  • low cost;
  • wide range of uses;
  • the ability to control the working element directly from the driver’s cab.

Cabin, working control

The DZ-99 was equipped with a closed two-seater cabin. For operator comfort, it was equipped with an adjustable seat, ventilation and heating systems. Control and measuring instruments were also available here.

The hydraulic system was used to control the working equipment, power steering, and also tilt the front steered wheels. Its design used hydraulic pumps of the NSh-10D and NSh-46D models and hydraulic distributors R75-PZ-PG14A and R75-PZ-PG2-B. The hydraulic system diagram is a separate unit with open circuits. Each circuit had its own hydraulic pump.

Design of motor grader DZ-122

The wide range of operations for which a motor grader is used is determined by its design. Thus, it is used for cleaning snow, ice and loosened soil on construction sites and public areas under the control of public utilities. These operations are possible thanks to the presence of a full-rotating blade.

Additional functions, namely use as a bulldozer, are possible by connecting a working trolley with a knife to the DZ-122 motor grader, turning the device into a full-fledged bulldozer. Modifications of the device are formed by connecting knives of various types, which include rotary and partially rotary models.

Also, a pick-ripper is additionally attached to the frame, which is made on the basis of two axes. It is installed at the rear and allows you to loosen and open road surfaces, including asphalt, which makes the motor grader indispensable in road construction and road repair work.

The original model of the device, launched into production in the 80s, is currently not produced, but due to increased demand, modified versions are being produced, including the DZ-122A motor grader.

Motor grader DZ-122 at work

The main frame is made of high-strength steel. The working body - the grader blade - includes the following elements: traction frame, blade gearbox, turntable and, in fact, the blade and knife. The cabin is protected from tipping over and has a number of additional advantages that ensure comfortable work.

New models are adapted for use in modern conditions and can be equipped with foreign-made spare parts, for example, monoblock hydraulic valves or an automatic leveling system that allows you to adjust work in two or three planes to choose from.
