FAW J6 CA 3250 is a large-capacity universal-purpose dump truck with a 6x4 wheel arrangement. This model can be used in almost all modern fields of activity. The short-wheelbase modification is produced under the factory designation A P64K1T1E4. Here the wheelbase length is already 3300 millimeters, and the total overall length reaches 7470 millimeters.

Due to their different overall dimensions, both models presented are equipped with different cargo platforms.

  • The P66K2T1E4 version has a cargo platform designed for a volume of 19.3 cubic meters. Its overall dimensions have the following values: 6000 x 2300 x 1400 mm.
  • The second modification A P64K1T1E4 is equipped with a body that can accommodate up to 12 cubic meters of cargo. Dimensions of this platform: 4800 x 2300 x 1100 mm.

The modification with the index P66K2T1E4 has a maximum permitted weight of 35,100 kilograms, while the short-wheelbase version A P64K1T1E4 has a maximum weight of 25,700 kilograms.

The manufacturer equipped the main version with a six-cylinder in-line diesel power plant of the CA6DL2–37E4 brand, having a displacement of 8.6 liters and a maximum output power of 370 horsepower. The maximum torque reaches 1550 Newton meters at 1300-1500 rpm.

The shorter version of the truck has a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine of the BF6M1013-2 brand under the hood, the displacement of which is 7.1 liters. The maximum output power reaches 280 horsepower, and the peak torque is 1050 Newton meters.

Appearance

The FAW J6 CA 3250 truck has a modern and very attractive appearance. But some features of the cabin reveal the manufacturer's Asian roots.

The front part has a futuristic look, which is given by a sculpted cabin with air compartments, narrow halogen optics in the bumper with electrical adjustment, rectangular fog lights and a dotted radiator grille. It is all this together that makes it clear that this dump truck comes from Asia.

The manufacturer's triple logo is printed on the side of the cabin. The wheel arches have slight extensions. There are small stampings on the doors, grip handles and an area near the steps.

The upper part of the windshield is slightly covered by a special visor that protects the driver and passengers from the sun's rays. The rear wall of the cabin is equipped with a hanging spare wheel, and behind it there is a cargo platform. It is worth noting that in versions with a short wheelbase the volume of the platform is 12 cubic meters, while on the extended versions a platform with a volume of 19.3 cubic meters is installed.

Cabin

Access to the cabin is provided by three steps and handrails installed on each side.

The entire cabin structure is mounted to the frame using four shock absorbers. Compared to other Chinese models, the FAW J6 CA 3250 has a more spacious interior. There are two seats, and in versions with an extended wheelbase the cabin is equipped with a sleeping bag.

In order to ensure increased comfort during work, the driver's seat was equipped with air suspension and many adjustments, albeit mechanical. The driving position was generally quite comfortable. The ergonomics of the cabin are also very well thought out. On the right side of the driver, there is a gear lever, a handbrake, and a control unit for the platform's dumping mechanism.

Chinese roots can be traced in this model not only in design, but also in the interior. The plastic used inside is of average quality, and the assembly is not of the best quality. This is a kind of calling card of almost all Chinese cars.

The truck's controls are represented by a four-spoke steering wheel with a massive brand logo. The dashboard contains only classic dial gauges and a very simple on-board computer.

The dashboard panel is painted in two colors. In the center there are also classic control buttons with various electrical equipment, a standard radio with a USB port, and a small display with climate control settings. In addition, the cabin has electric windows. The panel does not have any shelves or niches for storing personal belongings and documents, which is very unusual. Between the seats there is a high tunnel covering the power plant. Due to its rather large size, it prevents movement towards the sleeping bag.

Compared to other Chinese-made trucks, the FAW J6 CA 3250 model has very good noise insulation.

Working moments

The rear window in the cabin wall attracts attention; this suggests that the machine is designed to work with frequent changes of rolling stock and transport construction and industrial equipment, when visibility from the rear-view mirrors is not enough.

The crowded instrument cluster with a monochrome display of the Chinese-language on-board computer is illuminated in a pleasant green color; there is no shortage of data: instant and average fuel consumption, oil pressure, on-board network voltage. The speedometer, tachometer, fuel and urea level indicators are easy to read, and the combined control pressure gauge for the pneumatic system is generally mechanical - archaic, but reliable.

The steering column has two adjustments, the pneumatic seat is quite comfortable, the side windows are raised by an electric drive, and four rows of large keys with clear icons on the front panel seem to say - you won’t miss! There is also a “parachute” crane on the center console between the seats - a controversial thing, but never superfluous.

Loading platform

The FAW J6 CA 3250 truck is equipped with a metal dump platform with a wall thickness of 6 millimeters and a bottom thickness of 8 millimeters.

There is enough free space between the frame and the body itself. The manufacturer has implemented heating of the platform here using exhaust gases, which accumulate in this space. Thanks to this, any bulk cargo does not freeze to the platform, which is very convenient in winter conditions. The lifting mechanism includes a Hyva brand hydraulic cylinder, which lifts the body by 52 degrees, which is quite enough.

As described earlier, this model is available in two versions, namely the long wheelbase P66K2T1E4 and the short wheelbase A P64K1T1E4.

For the first option, an enlarged body is used. Its length is 6000, width 2300, and height 1400 millimeters. With such dimensions, the body can accommodate up to 19.3 cubic meters of cargo.

The second option is equipped with a reduced cargo platform, having a length of 4800, a width of 2300 and a height of 1100 millimeters. The volume of such a body is 12 cubic meters.

The truck is equipped with one of two power units, depending on the modification.

Thus, the extended version is equipped with a six-cylinder in-line diesel power plant of the CA6DL2–37E4 brand. The engine has a turbocharging system and a displacement of 8.6 liters. Its maximum output power reaches 370 horsepower. The maximum torque is 1550 Newton meters and is available in the range from 1300 to 1500 rpm.

For the short-wheelbase modification, the manufacturer also chose a six-cylinder in-line diesel engine, but this time of the BF6M1013-2 brand. This option has a displacement of 7.1 liters and a maximum output power of 280 horsepower. Its maximum torque is 1050 newton meters and is also achieved in the range from 1300 to 1500 rpm.

Both power plants are equipped with modern electronic control systems and fuel equipment from Bosch. As for environmental friendliness, they comply with Euro-4 requirements.

The FAW J6 CA 3250 truck is a really good dump truck compared to other competing Chinese-made models. Although it, like any other similar technology, has various disadvantages, it has quite good quality, which is why the car is loved by Russian companies. The popularity of this truck on the Russian market is mainly due to the fairly high level of comfort and convenience for the driver.

Road irregularities are smoothed out by the cabin suspension, represented by four shock absorbers and a driver's seat equipped with air suspension. The cabin can accommodate up to two people. The extended version is also equipped with a very comfortable sleeping bag located immediately behind the seats. The seating position is very comfortable from both the driver's and passenger's seats. Thanks to the large glass area and large rear-view mirrors, which are also very well located, it was possible to achieve excellent visibility and significantly minimize blind spots.

It is worth noting that the driver’s seat, in addition to the air suspension, has many adjustments, which allows you to choose the most comfortable position depending on the driver’s configuration. Another plus is the well-thought-out ergonomics.

The standard configuration of the dump truck includes the following equipment:

  1. Electric windows;
  2. Pneumatic suspension of the driver's seat;
  3. Two batteries;
  4. Radio tape recorder with USB port and radio;
  5. Head optics with electrical adjustment;
  6. Climate control;
  7. Cabin filter.

Metal was used in the construction of the cargo platform. The thickness of all walls is 6 millimeters, when the bottom of the body is 8 millimeters wide.

The gear lever is located in a convenient place for the driver, and thanks to its shape, it fits easily in the hand. Near the gearbox lever there is a handbrake and a dump truck platform control lever.

The front panel is assembled with high quality, two colors predominate, and there are no wooden inserts. The plastic is of high quality, there are no gaps or cracks between the panels, and there are no foreign odors in the cabin. The disadvantage is the rather high location of the engine tunnel, which makes access to the sleeping compartment and passenger seat difficult, but does not limit the working space of the truck driver. Numerous drawers in the cabin and glove compartments are missing (another characteristic feature of Chinese car manufacturers). Small items can only be stored in the folding glove box located on the front panel inside the cabin. The sleeping compartment is quite wide and has two side windows. The upholstery of the sleeping compartment and the curtains over the windows are made of high-quality fabric that is pleasant to the touch.

The truck is equipped with an aluminum fuel tank with a lid. It is locked with a special key. The volume of the fuel tank is four hundred liters. The dump truck frame is made of high-strength steel, welded according to the “spar-in-spar” principle. The structure of the frame, the presence of various locks (inter-wheel, inter-axle) and cabin heating indicate that the truck can operate in harsh conditions. There is a small tool box located on the right side of the cab.

The FAW plant responded to the malfunction of the bearings, namely their breakage, and equipped these types of three-axle dump trucks with a straight cardan without an outboard bearing.
