When overcoming climbs in the equipped state, the highest gear is enough, there are no problems with the brakes either, the ABS works normally (there was snow and ice on the road), however, the force on the brake pedal is too high. And using the fuel pedal is somewhat inconvenient. There is no clear pedal stop; when pressed all the way, the engine speed during acceleration does not exceed 2000, but if you press the pedal, as they say, to the floor, the engine spins up to the required 2400 rpm.

We present to you an extended version of the KAVZ-4238 bus, which is necessary for operation on suburban routes. At one time, the exterior design of the classic model was restyled. Thanks to this, the transport was improved: an original option was added. The front part now looks solid and is equipped with impressive lighting technology.
Even later, a modification of the bus with a gas engine was developed and launched. This model is available in several versions:
- Climatic version, which includes a powerful air conditioner. It is worth noting that the side windows have large windows, and the glass is completely tinted. And these tires, which can be used in conditions of fluctuating temperatures, are simply a luxury.
- School version: this is a generation of vehicles that is made according to all the rules of GOST R 51160-98, and is also specially designed for children to travel with.
Main modifications
The line of KAVZ Aurora buses, to which model 4238 belongs, has many options. KAvZ-4238-41 and the modification with the index 4238-42 have almost the same technical characteristics. But there are still differences.
The separate model KAvZ-4238-41 accommodates 39 seats and is equipped with non-adjustable seats. But the variation with index 4238-42 can boast only 35 seats with backrests that can be adjusted.
KAvZ-4238-01 has the same purpose as the regular 4238 model: it accommodates 39 seats, and the total is 44. The only drawback is the lack of a niche inside the cabin for hand luggage.
Specifications
The production of this type of transport began relatively recently, in 2006, which is why the technical characteristics were as close as possible to modern requirements. KavZ, no matter which model 4238-42 or 4238-41, can be safely classified as a high-floor middle class.
The modern KAvZ "Aurora" is specially designed for more severe operating conditions. There is a large windshield built in here, and the rear view mirrors are perfectly visible.
Main features of the interior using the example of KAvZ 4238-41
- Two doors for passengers of pneumatic clamping type.
- There are 44 seats in total, and 39 seats.
- Ventilation is provided naturally through the side windows. There is also every opportunity to install air conditioning.

Description of components is suitable for any model, including KAvZ 4238-42:
- The wheel formula is 4 by 2, where the rear wheels are driven. Up to 8 tons of load is distributed on the rear axle, and about 4.2 tons on the front axle.
- The design is equipped with a Cummins engine with modification EQB-21020. It has a power of 210 “horses”, runs on diesel fuel and is equipped with a turbocharger, which is located longitudinally in the rear overhang of the bus. This ensures economical fuel consumption: at a speed of 100 km, no more than 23 liters of fuel are consumed.
- Gearbox – “mechanics”, 6-speed. There is an in-line arrangement of 6 cylinders. The clutch master cylinder, which is mounted on a bracket, is located under the driver's floor. The cardan transmission consists of one shaft, and the cardan shaft itself is located in the driving rear axle.
- Single-wire electrical circuit. The negative terminals are adjacent to the bus body. At least 2000 watts of alternating current is produced by the generator, and there are additionally two batteries.
- The steering mechanism operates using two common types - hydraulic and differential.
The main components of the KAVZ-4238 transport are installed in a convenient location. Even if some technical problems arise, there will be no problems with access to the nodes. Kits with spare parts are widely available, because almost all parts are domestic.

The bus has soft, pleasant and comfortable seats, and you can move around the cabin without any difficulty. What else can be recalled are the large windows. They allow passengers not to miss anything while traveling long distances.
