In the mid-20th century, many leading automobile companies realized the need to produce special-purpose vehicles designed to transport passengers or small cargo. The design engineers of Citroen also did not stand aside, launching mass production of low-tonnage cargo-passenger vans. One of the most successful models in this segment is rightfully considered the all-metal cargo van Citroen Jumpy .
Why Citroen Jumpy is ideal for business
In the modern world, we often observe two extremes: the quality and good equipment of a car is equated with high cost, and the quality of cheap things often leaves much to be desired.
But the French manufacturer presented the world with a “golden mean” - the Citroen Jumpy light commercial vehicle. If you imagine yourself as an entrepreneur, your head will begin to spin from the number of problems that need to be solved. However, with the Citroen Jumpy one problem – cargo transportation – will disappear immediately. There are many reasons to choose this particular brand of car for this purpose.
The first is the harmony of price and quality. In life, very often the search for a compromise solution to any issue fails. Choosing a good van is also not an easy task. Of course, you can, without thinking twice and without spending much money, buy a simple Gazelle NEXT, for which even the presence of fog lights is something of a luxury. But, for example, Ford Transit or Fiat Ducato models are not affordable for everyone, and they are quite large in size. Not everyone needs such a large capacity. What can we say about cars such as the Mercedes-Benz Vito or Volkswagen Transporter, which are sold at an exorbitant price.
To save businessmen from the difficult task of choosing, the Citroen company has released its universal Citroen Jumpy, which will suit many buyers both in price (you can purchase it from 1,299,900 rubles), in size, and in configuration.
You will give your heart and all your business brain even at the stage of studying the technical parameters and configuration of this light commercial vehicle. After all, this is a real business machine. There are models of different lengths to choose from: L1 (4.6 m), L2 (4.95 m) and L3 (5.3 m).
However, the most important advantage, which is impossible to resist and with which the car will outshine all representatives of its segment, is its mass. Here you will see the treasured figures of 2495 kg. They will not be able to leave you indifferent, since you, as a business representative, know very well that the passage of vehicles weighing over 2.5 tons is prohibited in Moscow. Those who are not planning a business in the capital may be attracted by other configurations of cars with a weight of just above 3 t.
The van can meet a variety of requirements. You don't need a long car, but need a load-carrying one? Choose L1. Oh, you want long but light? So you need L3!
Even the most compact version of the Citroen Jumpy van is very roomy and meets the standards in terms of useful volume. The cargo compartment is easily expanded due to the presence of a hatch on the right side and the ability to fold the front row of seats. This is not the “discovery of America,” but a proven way to conveniently increase space. In the L3 model, the volume will thus expand to 6.6 m3. In addition, the package includes the ability to secure the load using fastening rings.
The French truck amazes with its practicality. Its equipment is extremely simple and well thought out: the quality of workmanship does not fall to the level of the Gazelle, and the price does not tend to “conquer” outer space. The seats will surprise you with comfort, cruise control and air conditioning will be useful during long trips, and parking sensors will help you park in any conditions.
It's no secret that the driver, in general, doesn't care whether the load behind him feels comfortable. Driving comfortably is only important in the passenger version of the Citroen Jumpy, which has not yet reached our Russian market. The main thing that worries a car owner is the question of how much fuel the truck needs? And then the car will pleasantly surprise him again.
Once again, you can make sure that the car plant managed to find an excellent solution - diesel engines. There are two types: 1.6 l (90 hp) and 2 l (150 hp). There are no plans to use gasoline engines.
If a driver, who does not have the goal of catching all the radars and giving half his salary to pay fines, drives at a speed no higher than 100 km/h, then fuel consumption will not exceed 6 liters!
The van's equipment offers another feature - the Grip Control system. It will be of particular interest to rural entrepreneurs (who, we hope, still exist, despite the oppression “from above”). The fact is that Grip Control, installed on the Russian version of the car, is capable of changing the order of operation of the stabilization system depending on which road the car is moving on. This is possible thanks to increased ground clearance, reinforced suspension and installation of crankcase protection.
Thus, the PSA concern has developed a universal model, the equipment of which is equally good for both the capital and the provincial outback. And its price is especially tempting in our difficult financial times.
Engine and gearbox
Power units are represented by 2 diesel engines. Citroen Jumpy engine with a volume of 2 liters and a power of 150 hp. With. has proven itself excellently due to its high reliability, efficiency, unpretentiousness, amazing survivability and exemplary service life. A smaller 1.6 liter version that produces 90 liters. pp., in terms of reliability characteristics it is not inferior to the older one. High power is provided by a GARRETT VGT turbine and a Common Rail direct fuel injection system.
The cylinder block is made of high-quality alloy cast iron. To avoid starting the engine “dry,” the designers provided a volumetric oil stop system. The Citroen Jumpy 6-speed manual transmission is known as an extremely reliable, durable and unpretentious unit. Gear shifting occurs smoothly, without any effort.
Privacy, security and comfort
In addition to its presentable appearance, Citroen Jumpy differs from many other commercial vehicle models in its impeccable level of safety and comfort. The developers have thought through every detail. In particular, the Easy Entry system facilitates easy access to the interior through the wide side sliding doors. The car is also equipped with rear doors that open 90 and 180 degrees with position locking, providing maximum loading convenience.
Driving a car is greatly simplified by auxiliary elements and systems:
- engine heater;
- power steering;
- anti-lock braking system.
The dimensions of the Citroen Jumpy van are practically unnoticeable, and in terms of handling it is not inferior to passenger cars. Already in the basic configuration, Citroen Jumpy includes all the components necessary for the comfortable and safe transportation of goods over any distance. Citroen Jumpy is an excellent choice of vehicle for cargo transportation, combining high reliability, maneuverability, practicality and comfort.
Trunk Citroen Jumpy Multispace Exclusive
The trunk of the Citroen Jumpy Multispace is so spacious that you can throw luggage into it without looking or using your Tetris skills. Some of the cargo is placed under the seats, and some of it, which is lighter, is placed on the shelf. The space is perfectly rectangular, which is convenient, and there are no important caches under the floor, which is why, at times, you have to unload everything onto the ground to get, for example, to the spare tire. But there are some drawbacks: due to the large depth of the trunk, you literally have to go into it to pick up some distant bag. But this is not the problem, since the trunk floor is not high, and it is, in principle, convenient to do this, but the fact that the foot is trying to stand on the bumper, which is not prepared for such loads. I wouldn’t even put a bag on it - it’s just a wide strip of plastic, not reinforced and even without a pad.
The backrests of the third row of Citroen Jumpy Multispace seats can be folded directly from the trunk, you just need to pull the desired lever. At the same time, the headrests do not rest against the chairs in front, and there is no need to run in circles to correct the backrest that has not fallen completely.
Part of the trunk shelf is solid, and part is assembled into a roll. If desired, it can be extended to the backs of the second row seats, thereby covering luggage and maintaining an uncluttered appearance of the interior.

Your smartphone's shared programs can be displayed on the seven-inch touchscreen monitor. Synchronization with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink is available. We are sure that every driver will certainly like this option!
Design
“Business comes first” - although this advertising slogan became the motto of Citroen Jumpy, its creators were able to prove that a car for business can be comfortable, safe and even beautiful.

Exterior
The exterior of the latest generation Citroen Jumpy traditionally combines French elegance and harmony with modern technological solutions and convenient equipment. The front part of the “Citroen merchant” is equipped with newfangled auto optics and a powerful, slightly aggressive bumper. The chrome logo of the automaker is stretched between the headlights, the rear lights are located vertically.
In profile, the van also looks quite decent - the compact hood and voluminous wheel arches give the silhouette harmonious proportions. The large glass area not only adds charm, but also increases visibility.
Interior
The overall interior design of the cabin is quite laconic, but not without its own aesthetics. A good solution was the monochrome dashboard with white numbers on a black background and arrow indicators for fuel level and temperature.
Interior of the Citroen Jumpy III truck cabin
A big advantage is good ergonomics and functionality - a huge number of compartments, niches and various storage spaces of different sizes and volumes.
The total number of seats in the minibus is 8 or 9, depending on the number of seats in the first row. In addition to the driver's seat, there can be one or two passenger seats, behind them there are two three-seater sofas.
Engine and gearbox Citroen Jumpy Multispace Exclusive
I have a special regard for Citroen (Peugeot) turbodiesels: they are flexible (they get along well with a manual transmission and do not stall if there is insufficient fuel supply to the cylinders), quiet, economical and incredibly durable. The test Citroen Jumpy Multispace had a 2-liter turbodiesel engine with 163 hp under the hood. A torque of 340 Nm (twice more than that of the usual urban hatchbacks) is available already at 2,000 rpm, to which it takes a couple of seconds to spin the engine. This engine easily copes with a heavy loaded bus, consuming just zero fuel. By the way, in long traffic jams and even in a queue to cross the Russian border with Abkhazia, the car did not turn off, as the neighbors downstream did in order to save fuel (they stood there for 5-6 hours). At idle, when the turbine does not force the engine to strain, diesel fuel consumption is less than 0.5 liters per hour. The turbodiesel performed well not only in traffic jams and on the highway, but also on serpentine roads. About 5,000 rubles were spent on fuel one way (almost 1,800 km). Read more about this in the “On the Go” section.
The six-speed Citroen Jumpy Multispace gearbox does not cause any complaints. It works smoothly, quickly, saves fuel and does not howl at high speeds. It has a manual gear shift mode, but there is no need for it: with the slightest press on the gas pedal, the automatic transmission instantly switches to a down gear, and with a sharp press, maybe two, but also quickly. The only situation when manual shifting may be necessary is, probably, a uniform movement along the washed-out clay of some country road, in order to prevent switching to a higher gear, and therefore a sharp change in traction: you drive smoothly, and you go.
Technical features of the car
The simplest configuration of the Citroen Jumpy has two options for a 4-cylinder HDI engine: 1.6 and 2.0 liters. The power of the units is 90 and 120 horsepower, respectively. The premium Citroen Jumpy Multispace Exclusive package is distinguished by the presence of a 2-liter engine with a capacity of 163 horsepower. Fuel consumption in various configurations and different driving conditions ranges from 6.5 to 12 liters per 100 km.
The Citroen Jumper van is optimally adapted to operating conditions in Russia. It has a powerful generator, a high-capacity battery and an after-start engine heating system. Thanks to this, the car can be used without problems at low temperatures. The suspension and load-bearing parts of the body have been modified and strengthened taking into account the possible operation of the vehicle on poor-quality road surfaces.
