General information
In 1994, the first copy of the onboard Gazelle was released. The car's carrying capacity allowed it to move around the city and beyond without any problems. This series of trucks is widespread in its segment and is used not only for transporting goods. Minor re-equipment of the vehicle allows you to transport work crews or special equipment.
The car is also indispensable at construction sites, when performing repair and emergency work in various areas. The installed low-profile tires guarantee a minimum loading height of only 1000 millimeters. Excellent visibility is provided from the truck cab. Despite the decent parameters of the first model, the car underwent several stages of restyling. “Nexts”, “Business”, “Sables” and other variations appeared in the line.
Peculiarities
The carrying capacity of the Gazelle is not its only advantage. The modification in question is also distinguished by economical fuel consumption and a high level of maintainability. The standard version allows transporting materials whose length does not exceed three meters. Soon, trucks appeared with a base lengthened by one meter.
In addition, analogues with gas cylinder equipment, as well as versions with all-wheel drive, are available on the market. Vehicles with all driving wheels have even more room for maneuver and have increased cross-country ability, regardless of road surface and weather conditions. When developing the machines in question, manufacturers took into account the nuances of domestic roads, as well as the wishes of users.
Basic characteristics
Below are the main parameters of the truck in question, including the carrying capacity of the onboard Gazelle:
- curb weight (t) – 3.5;
- engine power (hp) – from 107 to 120, depending on the type of power unit;
- fuel - gasoline or diesel;
- engine volumes (cc) – 2781/2890;
- transmission – manual gearbox;
- suspension unit - springs;
- brake block - discs at the front, drums at the rear;
- length/width/height (m) – 5.5/2.38/2.05;
- ground clearance (cm) – 17;
- Fuel tank capacity (l) – 64.
The carrying capacity of the onboard Gazelle (3 meters) is 1.5 tons, and the vehicle can be equipped with an awning.
Pallet capacity in long-wheelbase Gazelle
The long wheelbase and voluminous body of the cars make you want to load as much cargo as possible into them. However, we should not forget that the carrying capacity of extended Gazelles is not too different from the basic models. Therefore, the weight of each pallet is limited to no more than 150-170 kg.
Placement of Euro pallets
A 6-meter Gazelle with a body width of 2 meters can accommodate up to 10 euro pallets. The dimensions of each Euro pallet are 80*120 cm. The height of a pallet with cargo is no more than 1.8 m.
Placing American pallets in a long-wheelbase Gazelle
Let us remind you that the dimensions of American (Finnish) pallets are 110*120 cm. If the car body is more than 2.2 meters wide, then the pallets can be placed as indicated in the figure. In this case, up to 10 American pallets can fit into the machine. The height of a pallet with cargo can reach 2 meters. At the same time, you should remember the limited carrying capacity of the machine itself - no more than 1.7 tons.
Commercial component
The car in question is characterized by a high level of performance and versatility. The lack of worthy competition in terms of price/quality made the car universal, produced in several modifications. It is important that such cars can be driven with a category “B” license.
According to statistics, the onboard Gazelle, whose load capacity does not exceed 1.5 tons, has become the leader among light-duty trucks. A series of upgrades only increased user interest in these machines. When developing the latest variation, the designers took the idea of the cabin configuration from the Ford Transit. This made it possible to equip it with acceptable comfort for passengers. It can comfortably accommodate three people, including the driver. Despite the fact that this truck was created with an emphasis on commercial activities, the design must also be given its due.
Transportation costs
Long-wheelbase Gazelles are indispensable when moving apartments due to the fact that cars of this class belong to the category of passenger cars (category B), such cars have the right to enter the city center, where truck traffic is usually prohibited.

Summary table of prices for transportation in the Leningrad region:
Power units
Regardless of the carrying capacity of the onboard Gazelle, it is equipped with a pair of gasoline engines.
The UMZ-4216 model has a volume of 1.9 liters, develops power up to 106 horsepower, with a torsional torque of 220 Nm. The 2.4-liter Chrysler version reaches 133 hp. s (204 Nm). Both options comply with Euro-3 requirements.
The “engines” are combined with five-mode manual transmissions; control is facilitated by a hydraulic booster. The suspensions are equipped with spring elements with telescopic shock absorbers. A mechanism is sometimes added to the rear block to reduce roll during turns and bends. The brake unit is divided into disc and drum type.
Cabin
The standard modification of the car is equipped with a three-seater cabin. Some versions are made with an enlarged element for six passengers, including the driver. In this case, the “seats” are placed in two rows, the roof has an increased ceiling height. In the basic version, the cabin design includes a pair of doors with rear-view mirrors, just like the six-seat version. Entry to the rear row is carried out through the front door, after reclining the front passenger seat.
The one-piece windshield is equipped with a windshield wiper and fairly large viewing side windows. This solution creates good visibility not only for the driver, but also for passengers. There is a small batch of cars with a sleeping place in the driver's cab. Other equipment includes noise insulation, a ventilation and air conditioning system, a heater, and airflow from the inside of the windshield.
The vehicle is controlled using the steering wheel and the lever element of the gearbox. The necessary control devices are located on the dashboard. All necessary conditions have been created for the driver to work comfortably, although there is no particular luxury here.
Helpful information
The carrying capacity of a Gazelle cargo vehicle does not always have a positive effect on its handling, especially when overloaded. The car is made on a frame base with a fairly rigid suspension, which was initially designed for transport use. The lack of comfort is offset by the high degree of safety of this truck.
The estimated cost of the modification with the UMZ engine is about 500 thousand rubles. This is another plus for the car, since foreign “competitors” are much more expensive. The version with the Chrysler engine has moved forward slightly (about 600 thousand rubles).
Modifications
Next, we will consider the characteristics of three popular modifications among Gazelle onboard vehicles, the carrying capacity of which is almost the same.
Version 3302:
- number of wheels (total/drive) – 4/2;
- turning radius – 5500 mm;
- wheel type - R16175 (185/175);
- machine length - 5.48 m;
- distance between axles – 2.9 m;
- front/rear track – 1.7/1.56 m;
- ground clearance – 17 cm;
- overhangs – 1.03/1.55/1.21 m;
- cargo area – inside/on the awning – 3.05/1.65 m;
- loading height – 0.96 m.

The GAZ 3302 “Eurotent” is an onboard Gazelle, converted into a tilt van, which can be equipped with a gate (for locking the cargo with subsequent sealing). The awning itself is mounted on a rigid metal frame, which can stand in combination with a side platform, or without sides at all. The “Eurotent” option has three unloading options: a rear one with a gate, or a side or top one with a removable frame (the entire “wall” is removed) - this is the case when something large needs to be loaded onto the vehicle. Similar to a “manufactured goods van” car, the Gazelle, equipped with a Euro-tent, is suitable for transporting goods that do not require special temperature conditions. Unloading options cannot be combined.
The onboard Gazelle "Eurotent" is supplied complete with a spare wheel, a gray or blue awning, spark plug and wheel wrenches, a screwdriver and a jack. The cost of the car may vary depending on the car's drive (rear/all-wheel drive), installed additional options, body paint color and installed engine.
This vehicle can transport light, but at the same time, large loads, thanks to the design of its van. It consists of an all-metal frame covered with an awning, and the mounting options for the frame can be different (to the cargo platform, or complete with sides). GAZ-3302 "Gazelle" Eurovan has 3 unloading options: rear, top and side. In the first case, loading is carried out by opening the gate. Top and side options exist for loading something oversized.
You can buy a GAZ-3302 / GAZ-33023 “Gazelle” eurovan in Nizhny Novgorod from our company GAZAVTOMIG, at the price of the manufacturer, which is significantly lower than that of regional representatives.
Cars can be leased or on credit. Delivery possible.
You can find out more from the company’s managers by calling any phone number listed on the website.
Common features
Next, let's look at what these modifications have in common. Onboard Gazelles differ in engine brands, power, and additional equipment. The carrying capacity and appearance of these vehicles remains virtually unchanged, except for minor differences.
It’s worth starting with the number of seats in the cabin, of which there are three. Most cars have similar dimensions of the body and loading area. The main gear of the truck is of a hypoid configuration, the steering structure is represented by a “screw-ball nut” type mechanism. The speakers are equipped with a pair of hinges and have a hydraulic booster. Clutch type - single-disc hydraulically driven. Suspension unit - springs.
The UMZ-4216 gasoline engine has a multi-point fuel supply. The diesel analogue of Cummins is equipped with the original Common Rail system. Both power units have microprocessor-type ignition. The power of the first version is 106.8 horsepower, while the diesel engine has 120 horsepower. The volumes of the units are 2890 and 2800 cubic centimeters, respectively. Further parallels regarding engines are drawn in terms of speed and compliance with environmental safety requirements: 2500/2700 rpm, “Euro 3/Euro 4”.

The long Gazelle can accommodate 10 Euro pallets. If the cargo is located on Finnish or American pallets, then 8-10 such pallets will fit into the body of a standard Gazelle with a total height of the cargo along with the pallet of no more than 2000 mm.
up
Placing cargo on pallets
Commercial cargo is usually transported on pallets; the most popular are Euro pallets with dimensions of 800*1200 mm. The arrangement of cargo on pallets allows you to quickly and easily load/unload the vehicle. Most modern warehouses are designed to fit standard Euro pallet sizes.
Long gazelle body dimensions
europallet | Transportation of commercial cargo is carried out, as a rule, on pallets (pallets). This applies mainly to standard-sized cargo distributed in boxes. The most common pallets are Euro pallets have a size of 800*1200 mm. Standard load capacity is 780 kg, maximum permitted load capacity of a Euro pallet is 1500 kg. The maximum height of a pallet with cargo should not exceed 1800 mm, and the cargo itself should not protrude beyond the edges of the pallet by more than 20 mm. The maximum dimensions of a cargo package for a pallet with sides 800x1200 will be 840x1240x1800 mm Finnish (or Finnpallet) pallets have a size of 1000*1200 mm. Standard load capacity is 1 ton, maximum permitted load capacity is no more than 2.5 tons. The maximum dimensions of a cargo package for a pallet with sides 1000x1200 will be 1040x1240x1800 mm. American pallets with sides 1200*1200 mm are used for international cargo transportation. Cargo that does not fit within the specified limits on any of the listed pallets is considered non-standard . Transportation of such cargo costs slightly more than indicated in the price list. The cost of transporting non-standard cargo is agreed individually with the dispatcher based on the specific characteristics of the cargo, its weight, volume and size. |

Non-standard cargo
If the goods are of a non-standard size (for example, too long, or too flat), or they are not placed in boxes that would be convenient to put on a pallet, then they have to be loaded manually, which, firstly, takes more time, and secondly , such cargo does not completely fill the useful space of the truck, which affects the increased cost of transporting such cargo.
Other popular performances of "Gazelles"
Among other modifications, several non-board variations should be highlighted:
- Minibus 3221. This vehicle seats 13 and is equipped with an improved ventilation and heating system. After 2005, ABS is installed on the car. Upon request, the vehicle can be equipped with a high roof and soft seats. A “school” version is produced on the basis of this model.
- Based on the Gazelle, SemAR vans and minibuses were produced from 1995 to 2007. In addition to passenger and social variations, hearses and emergency vehicles were manufactured. The production of such machines was carried out by a plant in the city of Semenov.
- In the Tula region, a small bus was produced under the symbol 2221. In addition, restyling of existing GAZ-322132 models was made to order.
- "Farmer". The vehicle is designed to transport five people and up to one ton of cargo. The car is great for the city and countryside.
Specifications
The gazelle with an extended wheelbase is designed for transportation of long and oversized cargo. The large volume of the body of the long-wheelbase Gazelle allows you to transport relatively light, but voluminous objects.
Gazelle 6 meters dimensions:
- body dimensions (l:w:h) 5800-6200*1900-2000*2000-2200 mm;
- useful body volume 22 - 27 cubic meters;
- 2 passenger seats***.
* cargo transportation services do not include the driver’s obligation to transport passengers. Each specific case of passenger transportation is discussed individually and paid separately.
6 meter Gazelle: load capacity
Thanks to the reinforced suspension, the load capacity of 6-meter machines is increased by 200 kg:
- load capacity - up to 1.7 t
Price policy
It is not possible to buy the first version of the onboard Gazelle (maximum load capacity - 1.5 tons) type 3302 in new condition, since serial production has been discontinued. On the secondary market, the price of a truck starts from 80 thousand rubles. The final cost is affected by the condition of the car, mileage traveled and equipment.
More modern versions produced in 2003-2010 with improved engines and cabin will cost from 600 thousand rubles. In general, the price range is quite decent. And this is not surprising, given that the truck was produced for almost two decades.
Varieties of long gazelles
A Gazelle with a van-shaped body is convenient for transporting furniture, household items and other cargo with the ability to attach cargo to the walls of the van. It should be noted that structurally the van itself weighs about 500 kg - this significantly reduces the payload capacity of the vehicle.
A gazelle with a tented body, due to the light weight of the tent itself, can take on board an extra 300-400 kg, which sometimes (in extreme cases) can increase the vehicle’s carrying capacity to 2 tons. In addition, the design of modern awnings makes it easy to tilt the machine, in which case there is the possibility of side or top loading/unloading.
Owner reviews
The carrying capacity of the Gazelle is discussed above. It is worth noting that followers under the brands “Van”, “Business”, “Next” are no less in demand than their progenitor. Each of these models has found its niche in the national economy. They are widely used in small and medium-sized businesses, construction sites, transportation and many other industries. On the basis of these machines, specialized transport is made (thermal booths, cash-in-transit vans, laboratories, ambulances, minibuses). It is strictly not recommended to convert the on-board version into a passenger transport due to the low sides.
As users note, the machine is highly maintainable and easy to operate and maintain. In addition, the advantages include the unpretentiousness of the engine, starting in any weather, and versatility. Among the disadvantages are the weak resistance of the body to corrosion, unreliable chassis and not very high-quality interior trim.
