Tractors "Kirovtsy": model range, technical characteristics

The Kirov Plant traces its history back to 1801, when the enterprise’s facilities began producing ammunition for military equipment. Later, a subsidiary, the Petersburg Tractor Plant, was created, which to this day is considered one of the main manufacturers of heavy agricultural equipment in the Russian Federation. The plant has been producing Kirovets tractors since 1961. Constant updating of the model range and improvement of technology led to the fact that the company's products began to be sold not only in Russia, but also abroad. Today we will look at the Kirovets tractor range. Moreover, starting from the first versions and ending with modern high-tech machines.

The first model of the Kirovets tractor was produced by order of the Soviet government. It was intended to re-equip agriculture. In 1961, the company's employees developed a project for an energy-rich wheeled vehicle with traction class 5. The first version of the tractor rolled off the assembly line in 1962. The rapid implementation of the project was determined by the rapidly growing need in the agricultural industry for mechanization of processes. However, full-scale production of Kirovtsi tractors began only in 1969. Therefore, many begin counting the development of technology from this year.

K-700

This model was the first version of the Kirovets with increased performance and power. Thanks to the 220-horsepower engine, which had not previously been used in machines of this class, it became possible to equip the tractor with wide-cut implements and increase work efficiency by 2-3 times. During the Cold War, it was assumed that it could be used as a tractor for artillery vehicles.

The K-700 “Kirovets” tractor was equipped with the notorious domestic diesel engine YaMZ-240B. Later versions were equipped with the YaMZ-238B engine. The first engine had 300 horsepower and 1240 Nm of torque. And the second one is 230 liters. With. at 950 Nm. Thanks to its impressive dimensions, at that time the tractor became one of the largest machines in its class. Model dimensions: 7400/2880/3250 mm. The vehicle's speed reached 33.8 km/h. The track had a width of 2115 mm, and the minimum turning radius was 7200 mm.

"Kirovets K-744"

This family includes nine modifications of all-wheel drive energy-rich agricultural tractors, in a power range from 300 to 428 horsepower. Each of them is a combination of high performance and excellent maneuverability; excellent maneuverability, simplicity and reliability of design; maintainability and the possibility of aggregation with both traditional and ultra-modern wide-cut complexes of tillage and seeding implements and machines.

The capabilities of the K-744 family tractor are such that one unit of this equipment can cultivate up to 5 thousand hectares per season, in full compliance with all stipulated agrotechnical deadlines. The cost of processing and sowing one hectare is minimal. Also, thanks to its solid traction and transport characteristics, “Kirovtsi” are widely used all year round for any heavy transport and economic work. Such as: towing stuck equipment, transporting goods in muddy conditions, silage, fertilizing, clearing roads and areas after heavy snowfalls, field snow retention.

The basic package of all modifications of the “K-744” includes a three-point hitch of category IV N according to ISO, with a quick hitch system, a tow bracket and a hydraulic hook.

Tractors can be equipped with optional equipment that expands their production capabilities. Modernization of K-700

Over the decades of production, the K-700 “Kirovets” model has been improved more than once, as a result of which new modifications of the device have appeared. In 1975, the basic version of the K-700 was replaced with an updated one - the K-700A. It was equipped with a new YaMZ-238NDZ engine, the power of which was 235 hp. With. In the same year, the Kirovets K-701 tractor began to be produced, with a YaMZ-249 BM2 engine with a capacity of 300 horsepower.

Despite the fact that the Kirovtsy tractors were unified in all respects except the engine, they were quite different from each other. Models K-700A and K-701 were fundamentally new devices. Main differences from the previous version:

  1. No springs.
  2. Two fuel tanks that drain into one container.
  3. New wheel sizes.

Thanks to these changes, the scope of application of the Kirovets has expanded significantly. Along with agriculture, technology began to be used in construction, the defense complex and industry.

"Kirovets K-424"

“K-424” is a new model, officially presented on the market and on sale since August 2017. The tractor became the debut of the enterprise in a new class for it (previously, the Kirov Plant produced tractors of only 5-8 traction classes).

According to the creators, the K-424 should become the founder of the new K4 family: agricultural tractors of 3-4 traction classes. This meets the manufacturer’s strategy: to expand the product range, adapting to the current needs of potential product buyers.

Structurally, the K-424 is an all-wheel drive general-purpose agricultural tractor, built on an articulated frame, traditional for all machines of the brand. Positioned as a universal tractor for farms with arable areas from 500 to 2000 hectares.

O also fits into the agricultural technologies of larger holdings and land users - wherever it is necessary to solve the problems of frequent transfers to remote fields on public roads; processing of small contour fields. Suitable for carrying out a full range of work on basic and pre-sowing tillage; sowing and plant protection; for transport and auxiliary work.

With an operating weight of 10 tons, the tractor has a rear three-point hitch lifting capacity of 6 tons. As an additional option, it can be equipped with a front linkage, a pendulum towbar, or a lift-type towing device.

The K-424 base is 3.19 m; total length – 6.96 m; width – 2.54; height – 3.505 m. Track width – 1.93 m. Tire size: 23.1R26.

It is equipped with an in-line six-cylinder diesel engine "YaMZ-53625", four-stroke, liquid-cooled, turbocharged, with intercooled charge air, electronically controlled - the "CommonRail" power system.

The working volume of this engine is 6.65 liters, rated power is 240 horsepower (or 176 kW). The K-424 tractor is equipped with two fuel tanks of 250 liters each.

The K-424 tractor is equipped with an automatic gearbox with torque converter locking and electro-hydraulic gear shifting in both automatic and manual modes. Number of gears: 6 forward and 3 reverse.

Tractors are equipped with axles with self-locking differentials. The bridge includes unified planetary-type wheel reducers. The front drive axle is mounted on longitudinal semi-elliptical springs with telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers. The rear drive axle is rigidly fixed. The brakes are disc brakes with pneumohydraulic drive.

The cabin of the K-424 tractor is equipped with a modern control system “Commandpost 2” - now the automatic transmission control joystick, EHR control buttons, linkage and four hydraulic lines are located on the armrest of the sprung seat. The cabin has a high degree of vibration and noise protection and is equipped with a powerful climate system.

The price of the new Kirovets-424 tractor in 2022 is 5,200,000 rubles.

K-703

Later, the K-703 version appeared, which was distinguished from the previous ones by a reversible control post. This machine was aimed at the industrial complex. The design of the control post made it possible for the operator to work in an equally comfortable position when moving forward and in reverse.

Based on this model, many modifications were created:

  1. Timber stacker LT-163. After modification it received the name LT-195.
  2. Timber skimmer ML-56.
  3. Graydozer LB-30.
  4. Loader PF-1.
  5. Universal road machine DM-15.

And that's not all. The K-703 model became the basis for many other special-purpose vehicles.

Milling rotary snow blower "Kirovets K-703MA-OS"

A powerful and productive snow blower, designed not only for clearing snow from highways and intra-city roads, but also for laying winter roads through virgin snow.

To operate in severe frosty conditions, the tractor underwent additional structural adaptation: the vertical hinges and hinges of the hydraulic steering cylinders were strengthened, and frost-resistant replaceable bushings of increased strength were used in the hinges.

The cutters that develop the snow mass and the rotor that throws the snow through the pipe are mounted in a common housing and placed on the rear semi-frame of the snowblower tractor. Changing the throwing angle and direction of the snow jet to the right or left can be done using a rotating rotor casing.

The engine used on this special machine is the YaMZ-238NDZ-1 model, with a rated power of 235 horsepower (or 173 kW).

Continuation of the line

The K-700A and K-701 models were extremely popular, which pushed the manufacturer to create different types of trailed and mounted equipment that could be coupled to the tractor. Loading platforms mounted on the rear linkage, haystack and other equipment used in agriculture, industry and construction were produced. For example, a trencher for reclamation work, created on the basis of a unified tractor.

Later, the K-702 version appeared, which can be considered as an independent device. It was intended for the industrial complex as a platform for the construction of specialized machines. Bulldozers, loaders, road equipment, etc. were built on the basis of the K-702.

In 1990, the company began producing fundamentally new machines that were created for certain industries. Special and road construction equipment is built on the Kirovtsev base. One of the brightest representatives of industrial and construction equipment of those times was the K-700MA-PK6 front loader.

Also created:

  1. Vibratory roller based on K-700.
  2. Snow blower SFR.
  3. Universal bulldozer K-702MBA-BKU.
  4. Universal road machine K-702 MVA-UDM.
  5. Mobile welding units for 4 and 8 stations.
  6. Other, less common techniques.

Construction equipment. “Kirovtsy” – front loaders

"Kirovets K-708UDM"

This is a universal road machine with increased power and performance. In addition to the loader bucket, this tractor is also equipped with a bulldozer blade, and therefore can combine the functions of a front loader and a bulldozer. Performs efficiently and effectively the entire range of actions to develop and move significant masses of soil.

Lays column tracks through virgin snow, rough terrain, including the presence of small forests, bushes, rocky and rocky areas. Constructs embankments, dams, ravine crossings, and ramps to crossing points. Can be used in road and industrial construction, in the mining industry, agriculture, land reclamation, railway transport and ports, for snow removal and landscaping.

The engine is a 300-horsepower YaMZ-238ND5 diesel engine. Overall dimensions of this equipment: length – 10.55 m, width – 3.16 m; height – 3.78 m. Operating weight is 23 tons.

If instead of a bucket the loader is equipped with jaw grippers, then it can work as a timber stacker for moving and stacking timber. A modification of the tractor with a jaw grip instead of a bucket is called “LPK-6”.

The power unit is a Yaroslavl diesel "YaMZ-238ND3-1" with a rated power of 235 horsepower, or 173 kW. The operating weight of the machine is 21 tons. Overall dimensions are as follows: length – 8.9 m; width – 3.1 m; height – 3.8 m.

The end of the history of the K-700 line

In 2002, the St. Petersburg plant stopped producing the K-700 series equipment, which included all the models discussed above. Production of completely new machines of the K-744 line has begun. As the plant management stated, the equipment produced previously no longer meets modern requirements and working conditions. The cabins of the K-700A and K-701 models were not comfortable and safe enough. This is where the history of inexpensive Kirov equipment ended, and a new era of Kirovets tractors began. But before we move on to its consideration, let's find out what shortcomings the models of earlier generations had. Despite their enormous popularity, the Kirovtsi tractors had significant shortcomings. Here are just the main ones:

  1. On significant unevenness, the suspension did not do its job well and the tractors became loose. This could easily lead to a capsize, which is very dangerous.
  2. Due to the strongly protruding engine, it was not possible to count on good cross-country ability of the vehicle in extreme conditions.
  3. The machines created strong pressure on the ground, which agronomists really didn’t like.

Subsequent refinement of the St. Petersburg plant's products did not eliminate a number of shortcomings, but the tractors became more comfortable and more expensive. Since the models of the K-700 line were very popular on the Russian market, they continued to be produced in small quantities at some other machine-building enterprises.

Today the company produces Kirovtsi models K-744R and K-9000. In 2012, the tractors were completely restyled. The K-744R-1 modification, according to the manufacturer, is capable of replacing absolutely any imported tractor.

The K-744R-1 version is equipped with domestic and German engines in a wide power range. The hydraulic attachment system allows the unit to be used with any modern attachments, both Russian and imported. The Kirovets K-744 tractor and its modifications have the following advantages:

  1. Reliability.
  2. Durability.
  3. Resource intensity.
  4. Economical.
  5. Maintainability.

"Kirovtsy" - wheeled bulldozers

Universal wheeled bulldozers, consisting of a base tractor and bulldozer equipment, which includes a bulldozer blade; rippers, pushing frame, hinges and hydraulic drive. A wheeled bulldozer allows you to move soil with a straight or deployed blade (the rotation of the blade is provided in two planes: horizontal and vertical).

Thanks to the all-wheel drive and articulated frame of the base tractor, these special machines have excellent cross-country ability, which allows them to work effectively on the most difficult off-road conditions.

The presence of a torque converter ensures a favorable operating mode for the gearbox and engine when operating a special vehicle in quarries, clearing roads of snow and other bulldozer work that combines alternating forward and backward movement. Compared to tracked bulldozers, they have a clear advantage in speed. This allows you to quickly transfer equipment from one bulldozing site to another.

Overall dimensions of the Kirovets wheeled bulldozer: length – 8.6 m; width – 2.975 m; height - 3.735 m. Two modifications: "Kirovets K-702MBA-01-BKU" (with a 235-horsepower diesel engine "YAMZ-238ND3-1", weighing 20.8 tons, a bulldozer blade 3.8 m wide) and "Kirovets K-703MA-DM15" (with a YaMZ-238ND4 engine with a power of 250 horsepower, weighing 17 tons and a bulldozer blade width of 4.515 m).

K-9000 series

The Kirovtsi tractors of the K-9000 series are considered a symbol of the power and scale of domestic tractor construction. The manufacturer positions them as the most powerful tractors on our market. The model range is represented by vehicles of the 6th and 8th traction classes. All of them are equipped with turbocharged Mercedes engines that meet Euro-2 environmental requirements. The most powerful engine produces 516 horsepower. A total of 5 engine versions are available, each of which is very fuel efficient.

The Kirovets K-9000 tractor is a reinforced machine in every sense. All models in the line boast a reliable transmission, increased load capacity, a new satellite monitoring system, comfortable working conditions for the operator, high operating efficiency and the same high performance of the hydraulic system.

The tractor can process a strip up to 16 meters wide. Thanks to the large wheels, despite its enormous mass, it has little impact on the ground, which is very important. This allows the device to be used on soils with excess moisture. The cabin of the car is very ergonomic: it is not only many times more comfortable than the old Kirovets, but can also compete with imported models. The articulated frame has a reinforced structure. Thanks to the convenient placement of all components susceptible to breakdowns, the tractor is very easy to repair and maintain.

"Kirovets K-703M-12-03.2" - "Transformer"

This modification is a full-fledged universal energy-rich tractor with an articulated design and a mechanical transmission. The hydraulics of the working equipment provided for in the basic configuration of the tractor allows it to be effectively operated in combination with classic agricultural implements.

To enhance its versatility, the “Kirovets K-703M-12-03.2” design provides for the possibility of installing additional equipment necessary when using the tractor for household work:

  • bulldozer blade 3.65 meters wide;
  • loading bucket with a lifting capacity of 4 or 5 tons (depending on the presence or absence of a bulldozer blade).

To make it easier for the operator to work with the loader, the basic configuration includes a rotary station, and as additional options it is possible to install an air conditioner and an enhanced Webasto heater.

The Kirovets K-703M-12-03.2 tractor is available in three versions:

  • tractor module with agricultural attachment, operating weight – 16 tons;
  • tractor module with agricultural hitch, bulldozer equipment on a sub-frame and removable ballast weights, operating weight - 19 tons;

The overall dimensions of the tractor are as follows: wheelbase – 3.75 m; maximum length (including bulldozer blade and loader bucket) – 9 meters; width – 3.36 m; height – 3.4 m.

The engine on the Kirovets K-703M is used by Tutaev - model TMZ-8481.10, with a rated power of 350 horsepower (257 kW). The transmission is mechanical, with four gears switching without interrupting the power flow within each of the four modes (in total, 16 forward speeds and 8 reverse speeds). Both the sub-engine and cargo axles are leading; the cargo bridge is switchable. The bridges are mounted on a rigid suspension.

The hydraulic system consists of a three-section hydraulic distributor and a gear hydraulic pump. Working brakes are dry, shoe type with pneumatic drive. The parking brake is a shoe-disc brake with a pneumatic spring drive.

The Kirovtsi K-703M is equipped with a classic all-metal cabin, but equipped with a built-in safety cage that protects the operator when the machine rolls over (ROPS) and from falling objects (FOPS). The driver's seat is sprung. The cabin has good thermal, noise and vibration protection, and is equipped with fans for blowing the front and rear windows. The cabin glazing is tinted.

The price of the Kirovets-Transformer in 2022 is 6,850,000 rubles.

TERRION models

In 1997, the Agrotekhmash enterprise was founded, which specialized in the supply of Kirovets equipment and spare parts for it. Soon, the company became the general sales company of the St. Petersburg Tractor Plant and began to form an extensive dealer network. In addition, the functions of popularizing the Kirovets and developing new models were entrusted to them. Rapidly developing and expanding its specialization, the company in 2005 came to create its own model line of tractors under the TERRION brand. This is how the popular TERRION tractors with indexes 3180, 5280 and 7360 appeared. Since they have some relation to the St. Petersburg plant, let’s look at their characteristics.

Historical reference

In the 50s, the Soviet state needed new models of heavy equipment. The tractor models that were in service did not always have characteristics that met the needs of a developing country: for example, the DT-54, which was widely used in those years, was relatively weak and capricious in maintenance. The country needed new tractors. A factor in the decision to start production of the machine was N. S. Khrushchev’s visit to the USA, where he was shown the operation of the American John Deere tractor. The party decided that there should be a powerful Soviet tractor.

The design was entrusted to J. Kotin. The history of the Kirovets tractors began with the release in 1962 of a wheeled tractor numbered K-700, which gave rise to a model range of heavy machines that are still produced today.

Tractors of the “Kirovets” line played a significant role in the country’s economy; monuments were erected to them in a number of settlements, and there are a number of examples in technology museums. Modern generations of tractors are in demand outside the Russian Federation due to their consumer qualities and reliability. Repair of Kirovets tractors is carried out by many services, and in relatively simple cases it is carried out on its own if spare parts are available.

Let's look at the model range of the Kirovets tractor.

Use of Kirovets tractors

Starting with the K-700 model, Kirovtsy has repeatedly proven its suitability in different climatic and operating conditions. Today their name is symbolized by expensive modern equipment for universal agricultural purposes. The new Kirovets tractors, as well as their “big brothers,” can work with various attachments, which significantly expands the range of their applications. Despite the fact that tractors from the St. Petersburg plant perform well in construction and utility work, their native environment is still the fields.

Price

The new Kirovets K-700 tractor costs about 2.5 million rubles. Models of the K-744 and K-9000 lines, for obvious reasons, are several times more expensive. The new K-744 device will cost the buyer approximately 5.5 million rubles. And the K-9000 series is even a million more expensive. TERRION 3180 tractors cost about 4.6 million rubles. Version 5280 is 1.4 million more expensive. And the most modern TERRION 7360 already costs 9.5 million.

K-714 Petra

  • Year of manufacture – 2004 – present.
  • Manufacturer – Special Equipment Plant
  • Engine power – 240-420 hp.
  • Estimated cost – 5.3 – 6 million rubles

PTZ is not the only worthy successor to the legendary Soviet tractor. Since 2000, the Special Equipment Plant in St. Petersburg began assembling the first models of its own production. In essence, this is the good old Kirovets, but in a new, updated and modern body. And the inside is just as simple and unpretentious, yet reliable and cheap to maintain. It is inferior in all modern features and options to tractors from PTZ, but it is cheaper and more accessible. But it has one interesting feature: its articulated frame without industrial support; together with the front balancer, this arrangement becomes more convenient to operate and more durable to use.

Currently, the plant already uses its own brand PETRA-ZST, but many still call them Kirovtsy. In total, the ZST plant produces two types of tractors. ZST 375 is a class 5-7 traction tractor with a wide choice of engines. All industrial models of the enterprise are created on the basis of tractors of this series. ZST 390 is an agricultural universal tractor more suitable for agricultural activities.
