Analysis of technical characteristics of GAZ-SAZ-35071

GAZ 3507 is a truck with an all-metal body and various types of unloading, manufactured on the basis of the GAZ 3307 chassis. The model is actively used for transporting various cargoes on asphalt and dirt roads in Russia and the CIS countries. The design of the truck allows for unloading in several directions. GAZ 3507 is optionally equipped with a set of extension sides (rear, front and two side) with panels made of metal sheet or metal mesh.

The car has a rich history and many different awards. Its main advantages are low cost and maintainability. At the same time, in terms of technical characteristics and quality, the GAZ 3507 is only slightly inferior to its foreign analogues.

Model history and purpose

GAZ 3507 is one of the latest generations of trucks from the Gorky Automobile Plant, the production of which began in 1984. The truck is based on the GAZ 3307 model, which is very popular in the countries of the former USSR. Production of the “progenitor” GAZ 3507 ended in 1994. This model was replaced on the market by the GAZ 3309 modification.

When creating the GAZ 3507, maximum unification of components and assemblies was chosen as a priority. As a result, the model received many elements of the GAZ 3307, which made it possible to reduce its cost. The design of the model has remained unchanged. GAZ 3507 received the same cabin with a large hood, a large radiator grille and regular angular contours. At the same time, the cabin has increased in size and acquired better ventilation and heating systems.

The GAZ 3507 model differs from the GAZ 3307 modification by a new rear frame, shortened by 152 mm. There have also been some minor design changes. Instead of tow hooks, the truck uses a towing device. The spare wheel has changed its location, moving 272 mm back. The floor mats and casing have been completely redesigned. In other details the basic model has been preserved.

Minor changes have also occurred in the engine range. The car itself (like the GAZ 3307) was considered a kind of transitional variation. In the future, the developers planned to replace it with a diesel model, which is more economical. In the early 90s, the Gorky Automobile Plant even began producing its own engines. However, after the collapse of the USSR, there was a recession, and the previously in demand GAZ 3507 began to lose in demand. As a result, production of the model was sharply reduced.

The Gorky Automobile Plant initially offered the following versions of the car:

  • GAZ 3507 - a dump truck built on the basis of the GAZ 3307 with a ZMZ-5231 gasoline unit (3-way unloading, 5-cubic-meter body and load capacity of 4130 kg);
  • GAZ 35071 – diesel version with standard parameters;

In 2003, the Saransk Automobile Plant began production of a new version of the truck - GAZ 35072. The GAZ 3309 with a Belarusian-made D-245 diesel engine was taken as the basis for it. The model received 1-sided unloading, a body of 4.5 cubic meters and a load capacity of 4250 kg. This option was more economical than its predecessor and consumed about 14 liters of fuel per 100 km of travel, yielding quite a bit in power. Externally, the modification was no different from the standard version.


GAZ 35072 and GAZ 35071 turned out to be quite in demand on the Russian market. They are still being produced today.

GAZ 3507 is used for transportation and mechanized unloading of various products and construction materials. Superstructures with three-way unloading significantly increase the scope of application of this equipment and provide the dump truck with an additional advantage over its competitors. Appearance and technical characteristics

The dump truck, designated GAZ-3507, is built on a chassis shortened by 152 mm. The side frame spars, which are trimmed at the rear, are reduced in size. At the same time, the stern cross member is removed along with the towing device. Symmetrical hooks are attached to the side members, which are designed to pull out a stuck car. The cars use an in-line 4-cylinder diesel or a V-shaped 8-cylinder gasoline engine.

The installation of a power take-off gearbox and the associated control lever entailed a change in the configuration of the cab floor and decorative rubber covering. The spare wheel mounting bracket is moved rearwards for layout reasons.

The chassis is being finalized by the GAZ plant; the Saransk dump truck plant installs only additional equipment and the body. On the side of the frame there is a 16-liter stamped reservoir for storing hydraulic fluid. The unit is equipped with a rod level indicator mounted in the filler neck. The design of the drain pipeline includes a filter.

To install the 33507 dump truck superstructure, an additional frame and 2 supporting beams are used. The front cross member is equipped with points for attaching rubber support buffers. The additional frame is designed to install a control hydraulic cylinder, a safety element and rubber stops. The use of rubber buffers made it possible to reduce the noise level when moving an empty dump truck. The rear beam serves as a support for the platform hinges, as well as for mounting the rear lighting and registration plate.

The loading platform is made of rolled steel and sheets, the parts are connected by welding. When moving, the unit is kept from spontaneously tipping over by 4 manually controlled clamps. The side walls are equipped with hinged hinges; some dump trucks use a mechanism for lightweight closing of units. There are safety brackets inside the platform to prevent the sides from moving inward.

On the surface of the sides there are points for attaching rubber dampers that reduce noise when the truck moves. To transport bulk cargo, the joints of body parts are sealed using rubber seals, which are included in the delivery of the vehicle.

To control the unloading, 2 levers located in the driver's cab are used, which switch the power take-off and adjust the lift angle (using a 3-valve valve). A limit valve is installed in the hydraulic system, which prevents pressure from rising above 115-120 kgf/cm². Triggering of the device connects the discharge line to the drain channel.

The power take-off gearbox is a pair of gears that are housed in a separate housing. The unit is attached to the gearbox housing using bolts; the parting line is equipped with a paronite gasket that prevents lubricant leakage. A gear oil pump with automatic adjustment of internal clearances is attached to the gear housing. To lift the platform, a telescopic 3-link cylinder with a total stroke of 667 mm is used.

GAZ 3507 is a self-propelled type. For regions with a temperate climate, the MTBF is 12,700 km. The trouble-free operating time is 6,350 km. The warranty period is 12 months (if the operating time during this period does not exceed 30,000 km).

Engine

Modern GAZ 3507 models are assembled on the GAZ-3309 chassis. The truck is equipped with an MMZ D-245.7 engine. This in-line 4-stroke 4-cylinder engine with gas turbine supercharging and liquid cooling complies with Euro 1 environmental standards.

Characteristics of the MMZ D-245.7 unit:

  • compression ratio – 17.

Earlier models used a 4-stroke V-shaped 8-cylinder engine ZMZ-5231.10 with exhaust gas recirculation and liquid cooling. The design features of the unit are the presence of aluminum blocks, cylinder head and OHV valve mechanism. The engine is a carburetor type and meets the requirements of the Euro-2 standard.

Motor parameters ZMZ-5231.10:

The engine runs on A-76 or AI-80 gasoline. After additional configuration, the unit can be used with AI-92 fuel. ZMZ-5231.10 is characterized by high fuel consumption, which is why the Gorky plant decided to switch to diesel modifications.

Device

GAZ 3507 has a unique design that allows unloading from three sides (back, right, left). Additionally, the car is equipped with extension sides (rear, front, side). The platform is lifted by means of a telescopic hydraulic cylinder having retractable links. Its lower and upper supports (ball bearings) are located in the center of the subframe and platform. The driver can select the tipping side by releasing the removable hinge pins at the base of the platform. With a left stall, two right hinges are released, with a right stall, two left ones, and with a rear stall, two front ones. The dump body is in demand because it has minimal unloading time.

The transfer of energy from the engine to the platform is carried out through a power take-off, which is controlled by a lever directly from the cab. The lever itself has 2 fixed positions - “lift” and “neutral”. The oil pump is mounted on the power take-off housing.

The cabin is designed for two people. It is built quite conveniently, but in terms of comfort it is significantly inferior to its foreign analogues.

GAZ 3507 is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission. This element is characterized by increased reliability. The model inherited a single-plate dry clutch and a single hypoid final drive. For steering, a pair of globoid worm and 3-ridge roller is used.

At the rear of the cab (between the frame and the body) there is an oil tank. It is made of thin stamped sheets of steel. There is a special plug at the bottom and an oil filter at the top.

The comfort of driving a car was not always perceived as a priority by the Gorky Automobile Plant. GAZ 3507, despite the improvements, inherited many of the problems of its predecessor. Thus, the basic versions of the car do not have hydraulic power steering, which is why increased effort is required to turn the steering wheel. The dashboard was equipped with sensors from the previous modification in a slightly redesigned form. They allow you to monitor the status of key vehicle systems. Vibration is felt quite strongly in the cabin, and sound insulation leaves much to be desired. That is why the GAZ 3507 is used mainly for intracity and suburban movements. However, sometimes the model is used for long-distance transport. There is no sleeping space in the car.

There is no coupling device in the GAZ 3507-01, therefore this modification is not intended for working with a trailer.

The car has a lot of problem areas. Most often, difficulties arise with a metal body. It is poorly protected from external influences, and when the load is exceeded (excessive load is carried on the GAZ 3507 quite often) it begins to diverge. Even reinforcements in the form of additional channels and strips on the frame do not help. Hydraulics (cuffs, hoses) with hydraulic cylinders and taps often leak.

However, breakdowns of the GAZ 3507 do not cause serious problems, since spare parts for the model are rarely in short supply and are inexpensive. Repairing the equipment is easy and quick. It is this feature of the car that is valued by Russian consumers. GAZ 3507 continues to be one of the cheapest transport vehicles in the domestic market in its class.

The GAZ-SAZ-35071 dump truck is equipped with a standard 2-seat cabin, behind which there is an all-metal platform with an area of ​​8 m2 on an auxiliary frame. Along the perimeter the platform has sides that fold down at the back and sides. The folding elements are mounted on swivel hinges and equipped with special devices to facilitate closing. Fixation is done manually. At the right moment of unloading they open.

In the standard version, the height of the sides of the dump truck is 62 cm. They can be increased to 1.25 m using add-on panels. Increasing the height allows you to get 2 times more body volume. Thus, the capacity increases, which is convenient when transporting large and light loads.

The GAZ SAZ-35071 platform tips over when the telescopic hydraulic cylinder is turned on. It consists of 3 elements providing a maximum stroke of 670 mm. A 16 liter hydraulic oil reservoir is located on the frame. The pressure in the hydraulic drive is created by an NSh 32UK-3 gear pump located on the PTO. Torque to the pump drive is transmitted from the intermediate shaft of the gearbox.

The required direction of unloading is set by the control valve switches. In the raised position, the platform is fixed with a mechanical stop. The driver controls the unloading and lifting of the platform directly from the cab. One lever turns on the power take-off, and the second selects the direction of unloading. The levers are located on a special panel with cutouts located on the floor.

Price of new and used GAZ 3507

The GAZ 3507 is currently being produced in a limited series due to low demand. A new car in the most basic configuration will cost 1.47 million rubles. Additional options can raise the price tag to 1.8-2.3 million rubles.

There are quite a lot of used GAZ 3507 on the domestic market. Experts do not recommend buying models older than the early 2000s, as they often have problems with the body and engine. Trucks produced in 2001-2002 will cost 120,000-230,000 rubles, 2005-2006 - 300,000-450,000 rubles.
