What is the difference between sable gas and barguzin. What are the main differences between Sobol and Barguzin? Operational and technical characteristics

Barguzin is a comfortable minibus . This modification is convenient to operate and maintain. Convenience is expressed in the independent front suspension, especially in city conditions. The interior is designed in such a way as to comfortably transport passengers and conduct negotiations, arrange business meetings or simply work in the car. For this purpose, there is a special table in the salon, at which you can both work and relax. Barguzin can be an excellent choice for a large family for out-of-town holiday trips.

Barguzin

The car was originally planned by the designers as a minivan. The roof was lowered slightly in comparison with its predecessor, the Sobol. The seating position has also become lower. The driver's seat is quite ergonomic, the steering wheel is comfortable. In the cabin itself, the seats are located “face to face”. It's very convenient when talking. The seats themselves are tightly welded, which simply rules out alterations to the interior.

The high seating position has its advantages - the driver has excellent visibility in all directions . You can park yourself even in the city. There are modifications with both a gasoline engine and a diesel engine.

Most often, such cars are used by organizations of various activities to receive and transport clients or arrange business trips. The interior is equipped with seats with comfortable headrests and armrests, which, although not a necessity, nevertheless create increased comfort when moving. All this is Barguzin.

Features

Externally, it is very difficult to distinguish Sobol from Barguzin, because the main differences lie in the level of interior comfort and technical characteristics of the cars. Here are the main differences:

  • The Barguzin is primarily a car for work or leisure; it is used more often by business people, while the main purpose of the Sobol is the usual transportation of passengers.
  • “Sobol” has more seats, and “Barguzin” has a special table located in the middle of the cabin.
  • "Sable" is more suitable for transportation in difficult climatic or road conditions. The car is often used in rural areas where the roads are not well-travelled. For example, it is often used to transport passengers from city limits to nearby villages.
  • The Barguzin has a smoother ride and better handling compared to the Sobol, because the car has an independent front suspension. Of course, a minibus copes worse with uneven roads, but the Barguzin is more often used in urban environments, for example, it is at the disposal of organizations in a wide variety of fields of activity. In addition, the minibus is actively used by families who often go outdoors.

What is the difference between the Sobol and Barguzin cars?

Choosing a car is a very difficult task. The range of minibuses is very diverse. However, today there are so many similar models of different cars that not everyone can qualitatively distinguish even a Barguzin from a sable. The task is further complicated by their great external similarity. So what is the difference between sable and barguzin? More on this later.

What is "Sable"?

Sable is a workhorse. In a nutshell. There are less comfortable conditions for passengers here - everything is simple and functional. The car is good for short-distance passenger transportation. Most often used to connect the city with populated areas of the region. The cabin has 10 seats and good sound insulation. For more comfortable transportation in hot summer months, a ventilation hatch is provided on the roof. Also, the side windows conveniently slide for better ventilation. The rear doors are great for loading luggage.

Sable

The model itself was originally developed as a substitute for the usual “loaf”, but only with a different design and improved characteristics. The car passed the cross-country ability test in several foreign races and even showed good results on summer tires.

Low-range driveshafts with CV joints will help you get out of many hills and ravines, and the power steering makes steering easy and comfortable. The steering wheel angle can also be adjusted at your discretion.

In terms of external dimensions, the Sobol is quite suitable for the city: in length it is no more than a business class sedan. True, the width is a little larger than a passenger car. However, this does not prevent him from maneuvering in traffic - a wide view is provided by the high seating position and the rear-view mirror.

The car is produced with gasoline and diesel engines. The maximum speed is 120 km/h. Due to the fact that the designers equipped the car with a separate transmission and gearbox, and installed the engine longitudinally. This made it possible to achieve a simple all-wheel drive scheme.

Sobol is unpretentious in maintenance. Driving the car is quite comfortable. The car copes well with moderate off-road and uneven roads.

What are the main differences between Sobol and Barguzin?

To summarize, the differences between the two models boil down to the following points:

  1. Equipment . Both “Sobol” and “Barguzin” are available in both diesel and gasoline versions. However, the first is more often found with all-wheel drive, while the second is not. Also, the Barguzin has an independent front suspension, while the Sobol has both dependent ones.
  2. Appearance . On the outside, both cars are very similar. A distinctive feature is the different structure of the rear doors and the painting of the side rear-view windows - on the Barguzin they are the same color as the car, on the Sobol they are black. Also, the Barguzin mirrors are equipped with heating and cooling.
  3. Salon . The Barguzin interior cannot be altered, because the seats are located “face to face” and are tightly welded. The Sobol's interior is more familiar - here the seats are next to each other and there are more seats. However, Barguzin has a table in the salon.
  4. Under the hood . Dealers often offer Barguzin with a gasoline engine of 123 or 133 horsepower. Modifications of Sobol with a diesel equivalent are much easier to find.
  5. Controllability . On the road, both cars reach speeds of up to 120 km/h, but the Barguzin’s handling is better.
  6. Price . The cost of the car is significantly lower than its foreign-made analogues. Moreover, both “Sobol” and “Barguzin”. However, Sobol is cheaper in maintenance.

Modifications

"Sobol taxi" (GAZ-221703)

Volga cars have long been the basis of the taxi fleet of Russian cities, perhaps that is why, as part of the Russian Taxi project, a custom version of the GAZ-221703 “Sobol Taxi” was presented at the Gorky Automobile Plant, equipped with a 5-seater interior, decorated using plastic and easy-to-clean leatherette.

As on the Barguzin, the driver’s seat is separated from the passengers by a transparent partition. To the right of the driver there is space for luggage, and under the interior door there is a step with an anti-slip coating.

Due to the fact that the Barguzin served as the basis for the GAZ-221703, the car’s appearance becomes more “passenger-friendly”, thanks to the low roof and lifting rear door. However, the low interior of the car does not create discomfort for passengers, because even from the farthest passenger seat there are only a couple of steps to the door.

“Sobol Taxi” is equipped with an economical GAZ-5601 turbodiesel (with intercooler) with a power of 81 kW/110 hp. s.), which provides the dynamics of the car.

All-wheel drive passenger GAZ-22177 and 221717

There are also all-wheel drive passenger versions of Sobol and Barguzin. They carry the additional digit 7 in their indices.

The top version is considered to be 22177 in the “prestige” configuration - with a rotating side door, improved interior trim and sound insulation at the level of business class passenger models.

Minibus "Sobol Business" GAZ-22177 is a top-end car from the family of the "Sobol Business" line. The all-wheel drive vehicle is equipped with a 4x4 wheel arrangement, which will allow you to turn any trip into a vacation. The interior of the GAZ-22177 is no different from the GAZ-2217. The Sobol Business minibus is sold throughout Russia.

GAZ 2217 Barguzin technical characteristics

The Gorky Automobile Plant launched the Sobol family of cars into production at the end of 1998. Before this, there were practically no cars of this class in Russia, and the brand was beyond competition (not counting foreign analogues). Unlike the Gazelle, the Sobol has a shortened base and, accordingly, a lower carrying capacity (on average about 0.9 tons).

Exterior view of the car GAZ 2217 Barguzin

In total, GAZ has developed four main modifications of small-tonnage followers of the Gazelle:

  • GAZ 2752 (3 or 7-seater all-metal van);
  • GAZ 22171 (10-seater minibus);
  • GAZ 2217 (6-seater minivan);
  • GAZ 2310 (truck with flatbed body).

The Sobol brand GAZ 2752 with double-leaf rear doors and a sliding door on the side of the body (on the right) was adopted as the basis.

The Sobol Barguzin minivan (or minibus), depending on the configuration, can be 6-seater or 10-seater. At first, models with a “high” roof rolled off the assembly line of the car plant; starting from 1999, the roof height was reduced by 10 cm. In the new modification, the rear door began to open from the bottom up, like on a hatchback passenger car. From that time on, the Barguzin began to be considered a minivan.

Modifications of GAZ 2217

There have been quite a lot of modifications of the Barguzin throughout its production. It should be noted that the minivan has undergone deep restyling twice. The first generation of 2217 cars was produced from 1998 to 2003. Then the second series of “Sable” began, which was produced until 2010. Unlike the previous model, it has the following changes:

  • Rectangular headlights were replaced with teardrop-shaped headlights;
  • The shape of the hood has changed;
  • An improved instrument panel appeared in the cabin;
  • The range of engines installed on the vehicle has significantly expanded.

The next time restyling took place in 2010, when the entire Gazelle family received improved equipment and became known as Gazelle Business. The level of comfort has also increased for the GAZ 2217 brand; the car acquired the name “Barguzin Business”.

This time the car received:

  • Updated front bumper, which is now attached to the cab rather than to the frame;
  • Eight available body colors;
  • German instrument panel;
  • Improved interior lighting;
  • Improved stove heating;
  • Adjustable steering column;
  • Imported clutch from ZF Sachs.

The main differences between Barguzin and Gazelle

It is believed that the Sobol is a more compact version of the Gazelle, and this is true. Although the Sobol is a car of a completely different class, the models have a lot in common - the same components and assemblies, appearance, interior and exterior elements. When comparing models, it is better to consider the main differences. And the main differences between Sobol are as follows:

  • One wheel is installed on the rear axle (the Gazelle has a gable tire);
  • Load capacity is approximately one and a half times less;
  • The wheelbase is 140 mm shorter;
  • Unlike springs, the Gazelle is equipped with a front spring suspension (4x2 version);
  • More compact luxury interior;

Barguzin interior and torpedo

The big advantage of the front suspension on the Barguzin is that it does not have kingpins. Ball joints are installed instead.

What is the difference between “Sobol” and “Gazelle”

In the last quarter of a century, the need for small commercial vehicles, of which the Sobol and Gazelle are representatives, has sharply increased. Moreover, the first one belongs to the small class of such machines with a carrying capacity of up to one ton.

Where are they made?

These cars are produced at the GAZ automobile plant, one of the symbols of the Soviet and Russian automotive industry. It was founded in 1932 on the basis of an agreement for technical assistance in organizing mass production of automobiles concluded with the American Ford Motor Company . The plant began with the production of a Ford one and a half ton truck and a passenger car. However, these machines had significant differences from their prototypes. Then the production of many cars of its own design was organized. Among them were trucks and all-terrain vehicles, vehicles for the army and others.

In 1994, the first light-duty cargo vehicle, the Gazelle , designed to carry one and a half tons of cargo. This family of machines has proven extremely popular, especially among small and medium-sized businesses. In 2005, the release of their first million was celebrated. The next family appeared in 1998 and was named “ Sable ”. His cars had a lighter weight of 2.8 tons. GAZ has become a de facto Russian monopolist in the production of light commercial vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of up to 3.5 tons. More than half of the domestic cars of this class are made on it, which actually saved the enterprise.

Today the plant is part of the GAZ Group , which is one of the largest in Russia. The production of Sobol and Gazelle cars is organized within the division dealing with light commercial vehicles.

The strongest brand

The advantage of Gazelle trucks is that they can be driven with a category “2” driver’s license, designed for passenger cars. To drive such a minibus you will already need a “bus” category license.

In July 1994, a series of onboard vehicles with a payload capacity of one and a half tons began to be produced. Later it was restyled and received the name “ Gazelle Business ”.

Gazelle business

Gazelle Farmer , which has been manufactured since 1995 and has excellent cross-country ability, was designed to carry five seats and a ton kg of cargo In the same year, various cars on a reinforced frame with a metal body began to be mass-produced. In the van version, the car could carry 1.35 tons of cargo with two passengers, and in the “combi” version, a ton and six passengers. It reached a speed of 115 km/h.

Gazelle farmer

The first generation of minibuses began to be produced in March 1996. The basic one was an eight-seater car with a wheelbase of 2.9 m. This line produced comfortable models with wide seats upholstered in velor, and a thirteen-seater minibus. Three years later, all-wheel drive options appeared for rural roads with a capacity of 6 to 13 seats.

In 2013, cars with a more spacious cabin, called “ Gazelle Next ”, hit the roads. All that remains from the previous Gazelle is the gearbox, rear axle and frame. Minibuses, including those for route transportation, with metal bodies, were later produced on the reinforced chassis of this model. A little later, Gazelle Business CNG began to be produced, equipped with domestic biofuel engines capable of running on different fuels. The Gazelle brand was recognized as the strongest Russian car brand.

Gazelle Next

Compact and maneuverable "Sobol"

This series of small trucks, buses and vans was created based on Gazelle units. It began with delivery vehicles that had a shorter wheelbase, independent suspension at the front and single wheels at the rear. The load capacity of the machine is 900 kg . The appearance of this compact vehicle was caused by the needs of freight and passenger transportation in the limited space of large cities. In some megacities, vehicles with a carrying capacity exceeding a ton are even prohibited from entering the central part of the city.

Sable

In terms of their purpose, “sables” are practically no different from “gazelles”. However, power units, transmission, lighting, glazing and cabin, as well as some other elements, are unified. GAZ produces a van with an all-metal body, small Barguzin , trucks with folding sides, etc. The GAZ-2752 is used as the basis, with a side sliding door and rear doors that swing open. They also produce the Sobol Barguzin minivan, which is similar to the minivan, with a low roof and a door that lifts up at the rear. Minibuses for official purposes and a car for route trips are popular.

There are all-wheel drive options based on universal joints and a rigid front axle. At the beginning of this century, the Sobol models had an updated design, installed effective drop-shaped headlights, modernized the instrument panel, and made other improvements. Sobol-Business cars began to be produced with a package of modernized units and components, an American turbodiesel like the Gazelle-Business.

As a convenient delivery vehicle, Sobol vehicles successfully operate in small construction and trading companies, utility organizations, taxis and other services. Each version receives the appropriate equipment.

What are the differences

Sobol commercial vehicles are simple, easy to service and reliable. They are not expensive and maneuver well in cramped urban conditions.

While similar to the Gazelle, this car differs from it in a number of ways.

  1. "Sobol" is a smaller class machine and has a commercial field of application.
  2. Its carrying capacity is up to 1000 kg versus one and a half tons for the Gazelle.
  3. The Sobol wheelbase has been reduced to 2760 mm.
  4. The frame is reinforced with new design spars.
  5. The front suspension is on ball joints, independent, double wishbone without king pins.
  6. The rear suspension is equipped with single wheels and springs corresponding to the vehicle class.
  7. The front brake discs are one and a half centimeters larger in diameter than those of the Gazelle; original brake drums are used to brake the rear wheels
  8. The greater distance between the rear wheel arches made it possible to expand the cargo compartment.
  9. In a utility vehicle, the luggage compartment is separated from passengers by a blank partition
  10. All models, without exception, are equipped with power steering.
  11. The turning radius has been reduced to six meters for better maneuvering in the city.

Models 2003-2010.

In 2003, Sobol Barguzin underwent major modernization. In addition to modified headlights and hood, interior improvements, the range of engines installed on the car has changed. The line added a turbocharged GAZ-5601 (95 hp) and an injection ZMZ 405.

After 2008, the GAZ 2217 model was supplemented with 2.4-liter Chrysler engines and the improved GAZ 5602; since 2009, the Ulyanovsk Motor Plant’s internal combustion engine (2.9 l) entered the series.

The side rear view mirrors have also changed - they have become more voluminous.

"Barguzin business"

“Sobol Barguzin”, unlike “Gazelle”, is more suitable for business trips or as a family car. To a large extent, comfort depends on the thoughtful interior decoration. All the details of the interior of the car in the next generation Soboley model - GAZ 2217 Barguzin Business - have been well worked out.

Appearance and seating arrangement in the Barguzin business modification

On the roads, the new model is easily recognizable by its modified front bumper and radiator grille trim. The instrument panel, audio system, air conditioning and heating systems have changed in the cabin. The stove is now controlled using an electronic unit.

The steering wheel has acquired different shapes and has become more pleasant to the touch. Installed different turn switches and windshield wipers. The new brand began to use an imported clutch - due to this, speeds are now switched more easily, and the clutch pedal is pressed noticeably softer. The plant gives a guarantee of 80 thousand km or two years for the new Sobol Barguzin, the interval between maintenance has increased to 15 thousand km.

The new model is also equipped with two types of engines – a 2.9-liter UMZ-4216 gasoline engine and a promising Cummins turbocharged diesel engine (2.8-liter).

Technical characteristics of Cummins ISF2.8s3129T:

  • Engine type – diesel, turbocharged;
  • Cooling – liquid;
  • Number of cylinders – 4;
  • The cylinder arrangement is in-line;
  • Power – 120 l. With.;

"Sable " is excellent for passenger transportation, and is most often used by schools or travel companies. The cabin is designed to carry ten passengers who can easily communicate with each other thanks to good sound insulation. The side windows of the Sobol slide, and this fact, coupled with the presence of a ventilation hatch on the roof, allows people to feel comfortable in the summer when fresh air is needed. At the rear of the minibus there are doors that close well to avoid various incidents. They are good for loading luggage. “Barguzin” is also intended for passenger transportation, but it is distinguished by increased comfort, so it is the top modification in the family. The cabin has comfortable seats with special headrests and armrests. They are located in such a way that passengers can communicate with each other, for example, conduct business negotiations. In the center there is a small table that allows you to conduct various business, work on a laptop or fill out documents. In terms of comfort level, the Barguzin can easily be put on a par with passenger cars.

Minibus GAZ-22171 Sobol

GAZ-22171 “Sobol” is a small minibus characterized by comfort and driving performance. The car is intended for family, office or tourist use.

The basic version of Gaz-22171 Sobol is equipped with 6 passenger seats and a table. The 10-seater version does not have a table, and the passenger seats are located in the direction of travel.

If compared with the Barguzin, the body of the GAZ 22171 is slightly higher. The level of comfort is comparable: GAZ-22171 is equipped with comfortable seats with headrests and armrests.

One of the main advantages of the minibus is that when developing the Gaz-22171 “Sobol”, specialists eliminated many of the design flaws of the GAZelle (GAZ-322132 / 3221). The developers completely redesigned the suspension and springs, thereby ensuring a smooth ride, like a fairly good passenger car. The interior of the Sobol minibus has become more spacious due to being equipped with a single rear wheel.

Features

Externally, it is very difficult to distinguish Sobol from Barguzin, because the main differences lie in the level of interior comfort and technical characteristics of the cars. Here are the main differences: “Barguzin” is primarily a car for work or leisure, it is used more often by business people, while the main purpose of “Sobol” is the usual transportation of passengers. “Sobol” has more seats, and “Barguzin” has a special table located in the middle of the cabin. "Sable" is more suitable for transportation in difficult climatic or road conditions. The car is often used in rural areas where the roads are not well-travelled. For example, it is often used to transport passengers from city limits to nearby villages. The Barguzin has a smoother ride and better handling compared to the Sobol, because the car has an independent front suspension. Of course, a minibus copes worse with uneven roads, but the Barguzin is more often used in urban environments, for example, it is at the disposal of organizations in a wide variety of fields of activity.
