UAZ-3303. Reviews about the SUV
I have been using the UAZ-3303 car for 15 years. I bought a car from a forester. I use it on my farm. I converted it to propane gas, since driving this car on gasoline is a little expensive. The actual consumption of gasoline significantly exceeds that indicated in the technical specifications and is 22 liters, gas - 20-25, depending on the load. At one time I bought a car for $1000. Apart from installing a gas installation, I didn’t change anything. Claimed load capacity is 1225 kilograms. I checked it from my own experience, bought 25 bags of saltpeter - it goes without problems.

The vehicle is only for rural areas, for transporting goods off-road. In the warm season, I carry hay, potatoes, and other vegetables. In winter we go hunting in my UAZ with friends. I put the booth on the body. It seats ten people. I don’t go into plowing, but I drove in half-meter snowdrifts without problems. I really like the stove - it’s warm even in severe frost. I change the ball joints every 20 thousand kilometers. There are no problems with spare parts, so I will continue to drive.
Fedor A., Bryansk region, 1990.
You can buy a UAZ for 300 thousand. I took my “tadpole” for 30 thousand. It was a pile of scrap metal. I personally went through everything - from the bridges to the cockpit. Now I only change the ball joints. I think that for rural areas, for freight transportation, there is no better car. Well, this is if you carry small loads. In the city, a UAZ is not needed - it consumes a lot of gasoline.

UAZ 3303, 2008
I would like to share my impressions of owning a UAZ-3303. The first impression was very pleasant. The UAZ accelerated at the level of a passenger car; from a standstill on a dry road, you release the clutch a little more sharply - the wheels move off with a whistle. The Gazelle quickly disappeared behind the tailgate. The brakes are excellent. But everything is not so rosy. Once I arrived for a technical inspection - “color music” began in the rear lights, and when turning on the turn, the stops also blinked. I found the reason myself - there was no ground connection wire from the frame to the body. After the 1st thousand mileage, the speeds stopped turning on (all). I was lucky, it happened while making a U-turn in the yard of my house. I called the warranty service, pictured the problem, and they told me: “This is not a warranty case. Bring the car to us, we'll take a look. We don’t have a tow truck.” I bought an Italian clutch in my size and took on the repair myself. I spent 3600. The turn switch itself and the head light switch also broke down, but that’s just small things, and the parts cost pennies. I didn’t care about the “guarantee”. TO-1 was offered to me for 6-8 thousand rubles. Why do I need a “pseudo-guarantee” for that kind of money? I changed the oil myself everywhere after break-in. There is no need for a pit, the car is tall. I poured German oil into the axles and transfer case with gearbox. I pour 10W30 mineral water into the UAZ 3303 engine, but I’m thinking of switching to 0W40 “synthetic” by winter. The car has traveled 8000 km, I don’t add oil, there’s no need. Antifreeze does not leak, although the radiator is not copper. In winter, at -30, I dug up from under the side cover of the engine crankcase and tightened the fastening of the cover. If it happens again, I’ll put it on sealant. In cold weather, the UAZ 3303 always started (if the crankshaft was turned). One important point: “anticorrosive” must be done. Gasoline consumption is reasonable and corresponds to the displacement of the engine. In the city without a “front” it’s about 15 liters, outside the city 10-12, in winter with a “front”, a load and in snowdrifts - 18-20 liters. On the highway, the UAZ 3303, empty, accelerated to 130 (as per the passport). Cross-country ability deserves praise. I've pulled eccentrics in RAV-4s and Hyundais more than once. Got used to all-wheel drive. Driving a passenger car on a bad road is already starting to irritate me, I involuntarily look in the direction of the Patriot.
Advantages
: powerful engine. Good dynamics. Increased load capacity. Warm cabin. Good maneuverability.
Flaws
: hard suspension. Not for long range. Lack of power steering. There is no blowing of the side windows. Wind whistling at speed. In the cockpit, the third one is superfluous. 4-speed gearbox. Missing 5th on the track. It's a pity there is no diesel option.
UAZ 3303, 1991
And so I’ll tell you about my UAZ 3303. Year of manufacture 1991, 2.3 liter 75 hp engine. s., carburetor. I have owned the car for a long time (about seven years) and during this time I have not had any major complaints about it. I bought it used because I didn’t have the money for a new one. The first thing I would like to note is its reliability (it fully justifies its purpose as military equipment): despite often exceeding its carrying capacity, sometimes by 2 or even 2.5 times, there were no problems except for a herniated wheel. The only major repair was to weld the cabin, as it was susceptible to corrosion. The second is, of course, cross-country ability: of course, sometimes the differential lock is not enough, but this is rare, mostly its capabilities are sufficient. Third is ease of maintenance. The UAZ 3303 can be repaired with a simple set of tools, and spare parts can be found even in the Russian outback (this is its huge advantage over its foreign counterparts). Fourth, due to its volume, the UAZ 3303 engine provides good traction at the “lower” range, and if you combine it with a low gear, you can drag a tractor trailer. Well, finally, I want to say that no matter how much they scold him for his fuel consumption (17 liters according to technical specifications), in reality the consumption is much less (I measured it a couple of times, it turned out to be 12 - 13 liters per “hundred”).
Advantages
: reliability. Patency. Unpretentiousness. Easy to maintain. Price of spare parts.
Flaws
: comfort. Dynamics (but enough for me).
UAZ 3303, 2003
Hi all. Since I live in Ulyanovsk, I can’t help but write a review about this car. UAZ 3303 is considered one of the cheapest models of the UAZ family. But, despite this, the car showed its good side, especially in rural areas, where, to be honest, not everything is in order with the condition of the roads (and most often there are none at all). So, the UAZ is a great help in personal farming. Once upon a time I had the opportunity to work on this machine. Then the marking was slightly different: UAZ 452D. I can't say anything bad. Helped me out often. True, my UAZ had a booth. Why am I mentioning this? Yes, because without additional load on the rear and with the front end disabled, the UAZ 3303 does not behave very confidently when driving through mud and snow (traction is too low). But when loaded it drives like a tank. As a plus, I can also say about the “ratchets” or release clutches of the front axle. If you unlock them, thereby disabling the “front”, then significant fuel savings are observed (1 axle and the transfer case do not need to be turned). Therefore, when driving on dry and hard roads, it is better to do this. Nowadays Euro 4 engines with an injector are available. The power of the UAZ 3303 has increased sharply, and so has the speed. I once drove such a car. From a traffic light, from second gear, this is the only way a car “does.” And I tried it on the highway, and I reached 140 km per hour, and the gas pedal was not yet to the floor. In general, Ulyanovsk recommends it.
Advantages
: high cross-country ability. The ability to turn off the front end completely (and not just with a lever). Light weight (category B).
Flaws
: cramped cabin. Poor access to the engine compartment (I would advise the developers to make a folding cabin).
UAZ 3303, 1989
The “Tadpole” had to transport various loads, which it coped with with a bang, but because of the light stern it was necessary to use front-wheel drive. In off-road conditions, namely mud, my UAZ 3303 performed excellently, I was pleased with the cross-country ability, the “Tabletka” goes harder because of its weight, where the “Goats” were held, I also drove there. A small problem is that the gearbox cannot be changed to the lever on the rods and as quickly as on the “Goat”. The house was undergoing renovations and the UAZ 3303 turned out to be an indispensable assistant, it delivered sand, crushed stone, screenings, drywall and much more without difficulty; transporting 2 tons of sand or 500 bricks was a trifle for him, and moving from his previous place of residence was also carried out on it . This winter I tried the UAZ 3303 in the snow, what can I say, it drives quite confidently in the snow, and even ahead in compacted snow, since it is easier and does not fall through. I took part in off-road club rides, never got stuck, but also didn’t go where the prepared cars went. This year we managed to replace the old seats with newer, higher ones with headrests and installed a radio, so that the UAZ 3303 cabin has become more cultured and has taken on a more aesthetic appearance. Once I had to drive 20 km through the mud with a load of 1 ton on a dismounted rear wheel, since it was impossible to install a spare tire due to the fact that the jack fell into the mud. So after this, they even managed to balance this disk, it was made in the USSR, and the UAZ passed this test with 5 points. Over the two years of operation, the hard worker UAZ has not caused any problems, I don’t drive it fast, 60-70 km/h, the engine doesn’t eat oil. Now I have a Hyundai Elantra, but it’s always interesting to drive a UAZ; I plan to “lift” its cabin by 5 centimeters, install wheel arch protection and a tarpaulin on the body. Today I went to the village again, the mud is terrible, the temperature has been above zero for a week now, the UAZ is now red with clay, and again it did not disappoint.
Advantages
: permeability. Load capacity.
Flaws
: not noticed.
UAZ 3303, 1996
A car for the soul. In the forest, in the field, picking mushrooms and berries, fishing is the best. In the UAZ 3303 cabin there are only passengers and a driver. I am happy to repair it myself. The car is not hurried, but assertive, and if you have your head on it, it’s a tank on wheels. Cross-country ability, go wherever I want, all-weather, ease of maintenance, maintainability, price of a used one - you don’t mind drowning it or abandoning it in the forest. Neither Russian nor foreign manufacturers have an alternative to the UAZ 3303. Personally, I loaded it with firewood and household chores, sand, as much as 1800 kg, it crawls, rides and still carries. But I live in a hilly area and there’s clay everywhere and there’s nothing to it, apparently it’s not the car, there weren’t any big problems, I just have to keep an eye on the car and not tear it up. Spare parts are not of very good quality. You need to syringe twice a year. I always go fishing in such swamps, no problems. I built a house on this UAZ 3303, it has already justified itself 20 times. Although at first I also invested in going, but it doesn’t happen without it. During its operation, I replaced the rear axle, the engine with an injection engine, the entire transmission, and towed a trailer 1.5 times heavier than the UAZ over a fairly long distance. Replacing the frame, cabin, engine, and some small details is not so noticeable in terms of finances.
Advantages
: excellent maneuverability.

Review of UAZ 3303018 (1996)
The car was purchased at the time of construction in the village. What was needed was an inexpensive car that would preferably be capable of driving on dirt roads. I started looking for a car through friends, in newspapers, and found it in a neighboring yard, which had been sitting for at least 6 months. The condition of the UAZ at the time of purchase was average, because... It was standing in the open air and over the winter period water had accumulated in the tank, the battery was unusable, and the tires were in a shaggy state. We agreed on buying this device, the price for this assistant was reduced to 25,000 rubles. We issued a gene. power of attorney and somehow drove it under our own power to the garage.
The restoration began, we bought 2 cylinders and selected 2 tires from 4 shaggy wheels. Next, the following was replaced: battery, distributor, carburetor, spark plugs, high-voltage wires, starter, tank assembly, muffler, coolant change, replacement of all oils, but also small things (lamps, belts, lock cylinders, mirrors). A month later the car was ready for work.
The first trip, the body was loaded with meth. gates, weighing from 900 to 1300 kg approximately. On the highway, “Golovostyak” drove confidently at 70-80 km/h. Day after day the machine worked, transporting: cement, wood, iron, bricks. In winter, the cabin is very warm. The cross-country ability is very good, but it can also be planted in loose snow. Gasoline consumption on average ranges from 11.5 to 15 liters.
Visibility due to the huge mirrors is excellent. On the right end of the body there is a tool box in which you cannot put keys; when it rains, it floods. It's good that there is enough space behind the passenger seat for the necessary things. Sitting on the short backs of the driver's seat (more like a stool) makes the trip tiring; you have to constantly drive, leaning on the steering wheel.
The instrument panel is entirely made of metal, plastic flashes only in one place - this is a black false cover that covers the brake fluid reservoir. In slush, you don’t have to get out of the car to add water to the washer reservoir; it is located under the dashboard on the passenger side, and the container with liquid is behind the seat. Oil changes can be done without a trestle or inspection hole.
During the entire period of ownership of this car, there were no breakdowns during trips. The slave passed. the horse traveled around 12,000 km at this pace and was successfully sold for 65,000 rubles; I didn’t really want to sell, but this car was no longer needed on the farm. If you have any questions, just ask. I wrote everything from my memories; the car was sold quite a long time ago.
