You, dear readers, have to choose the most popular and efficient model of telescopic loader.

Since the production of this equipment has not yet been established in Russia (yes, we are aware that BDM-Agro announced the start of production of its own “telescopes”, but apart from 3D models we have not yet seen anything), the list of nominees included imported ones models.

They were selected by analysts from the ID-Marketing agency, which monitors the state of the market and the share of equipment imports.

So, we present the nominees. Let’s immediately make a reservation that the basic models are indicated, although we also took into account the popularity of modifications.

JCB 531-70

The British manufacturer positions this model as the most compact among its other telehandlers.

The machine is equipped with a JCB Dieselmax engine with a power of 85 hp. pp., designed for all-wheel drive transmission. In the JCB 531-70, much attention is paid to work safety: if there is no one in the operator’s seat, the sensor turns off the drive and prevents the machine from performing a single action.

The model’s lifting capacity is stated at 3.1 tons, but only with the boom retracted and raised to a height of 6.5 m. At a maximum height of 7 m, the boom can hold 2.4 tons.

By the way, in Russia the model has taken root a long time ago and some copies have accumulated more than 52,000 operating hours.

dieci telehandlers

Released in 1962, the concrete mixer was the first product produced by the Italian company Dieci. After 20 years, a new type of construction equipment appeared in production - telescopic loaders. With their versatility, compact size, maneuverability and, of course, high performance and a wide variety of models, they are gaining popularity, replacing a whole range of other equipment, primarily forklifts, front-end loaders, small cranes, and car lifts.

Thanks to a really large selection of attachments, the loader will deliver a pallet with building materials for unloading to the desired floor directly through the window or onto the ceiling, and unload the car.

And the ability to connect a variety of agricultural implements and trailers further expands the scope of application of these versatile machines.

Manitou MLT-X 735

We discussed this model in detail in our “Testers” section in No. 3 (33) for 2022. Let us remind you that the maximum weight that the boom can support is 3.5 tons, but again without telescoping and at a height of up to 3 m. At a height of 6.9 m and the boom extended at 1 m, you can hold 3 tons.

The power unit used is a Perkins 1104D-44 TA with a power of 101 hp. pp., there is also an Autoclean system: a group of radiators is automatically cleaned every 3 minutes for 15 seconds.

Assortment and purpose of goods

Dieci Italy produces special equipment - “telescopes” for loading and unloading operations, digging trenches, clearing snow, mixing concrete, and lifting building materials. To make the machines as functional as possible, they are equipped with additional attachments: buckets, mixers, rakes, grabs, forks, platforms, bulldozer blades. Seasonal replacement of attachments allows you to use one piece of equipment all year round.

Italian equipment has gained popularity due to the combination of high quality, reasonable cost, and advanced functionality. Therefore, Techalliance, as an official representative of the company, offers to purchase a full range of products:

Dieci Agri Star 37.7

This model has a 127 hp Iveco engine. With. capable of lifting 3.7 tons to a height of up to 3.5 m on a retracted boom. At a maximum height of 7.35 m, you can hold up to 3.5 tons. Like the Manitou model, reversible fans can also be installed here, but optionally.

But the basic configuration includes joystick control and an operator presence sensor in the seat, like the JCB. Experts also include the chain drive of the working body extension mechanism as a feature of the Dieci Agri Star 37.7.

“In 2015, due to the crisis that broke out in the country, the volume of supplies of telescopic loaders fell by 30.5% in one year. In the next two years, their imports began to increase and in 2022 exceeded the pre-crisis levels of 2014.

In 2016, supply volumes to the country increased by a third compared to 2015 levels. In 2022, the increase was 26.8%.

Based on the results of the first three quarters of 2022, the import of telescopic loaders decreased by 11.6% compared to the same period in 2022, but greater activity of market participants in the 4th quarter made it possible to “even out” the backlog and end the year with almost equal indicators.

At the end of last year, imports of telescopic loaders increased by another 16.4%, thereby updating the record figure.

The leading brands in the Russian telehandler market are JCB and Manitou. In January–December 2022, they accounted for a total of 74.6% of the total imported volume.

The leader is the JCB brand, whose share at the end of the period under review amounted to 43.8%, and the reduction in supplies is at the level of 4%. The share of Manitou brand telehandlers in the total volume of imports during the period under review was 30.8%, and supply volumes increased by 35.9% relative to the same period a year earlier.

In addition to Manitou, during the period under review, the DIECI brand significantly increased the supply of forklifts to Russia. A little more than 200 pieces were imported to Russia, which is one and a half times more than a year earlier.

It was the representatives of these three brands that formed the rating of the leading imported models at the end of 2022. Significant indicators with almost equal shares belong to two models of the leaders JCB and Manitou, namely JCB 531-70 and Manitou MLT-X 735. If for the representative of France this model is the only one in the rating, occupying 60% of all Manitou imports, then JCB has another 5 telehandler models are among the ten most popular.

The Dieci brand with the Dieci AGRI STAR 37.7 and Dieci AGRI PLUS 40.7 models is in fourth and fifth positions.”

Design features

All Dieci loaders are based on a 4x4 all-wheel drive chassis. A special feature is the design of the rear “swinging” axle, fixed to the frame using a hinge. This has a positive effect on cross-country ability. The front axle is equipped with a hydraulic balancing system that compensates for roll when working on an inclined surface.

All wheels are steerable and have 3 modes:

• The wheels turn on only one axis.
• Crab move.
• Turning the wheels of different axles in different directions, the so-called “track to track” driving mode.

All loaders are equipped with diesel engines, which are economical and quiet. All models can move independently between work sites on regular roads at speeds of up to 40 km/h. All sections of the telescopic boom are covered with Teflon and have fluoroplastic pads that are easily replaceable. The height to which the load can be carried ranges from 6 to 25 meters. Compact models are not equipped with support legs, but, regardless of their application and class, all loaders are equipped with a system that controls the weight of the load and prevents tipping, blocking those movements that could lead to this.

The operator's workplace is also not left without attention. The comfortable cabin is safe, has excellent visibility, and comes standard with heating and ventilation. Additionally, you can order air conditioning, an adjustable air seat and much more.

Work equipment and auxiliary systems are controlled using a joystick.

The attachments that can be used are easily replaced, and the choice is more than wide. Buckets, cradles, forks, grabs, hooks, winches - this is by no means a complete list of replaceable attachments designed for Dieci equipment. The full list consists of several dozen items.
