The grab is used for developing soils located below and above the excavator parking level, for loading and unloading bulk materials, as well as for some types of excavation work in soft soils (digging deep pits, cleaning ponds and canals).

The grab works as follows. When the closing rope is loosened, the grab is held by a support rope attached to the upper head of the grab. The lower head, under the influence of its own weight, lowers along with the lower blocks of the closing rope pulley mounted on it and the hinged jaws.

When the lower head is lowered, the jaws open, turning relative to rigid rods, hinged at the lower ends on the jaws, and at the upper ends on the upper head (position I). In this position, the bucket is lowered onto the ground or other material being grabbed so quickly that the teeth of the jaws cut into the material. Then the supporting rope is loosened and the closing rope is wound onto the drum. At the same time, the lower and upper heads of the grab are pulled together, and the jaws close, crashing into the ground and grabbing it (position II).

After closing the jaws, the grapple filled with soil is lifted on the closing rope. At the same time, the drum is set in motion to select the support rope at the same speed (position III). When the platform with the boom is turned to the unloading site, the supporting rope drum is braked, and the closing rope 6 is weakened, which leads to the lowering of the lower head with the jaws and to the unloading of the grab (position IV).

Unloading can be done at any height using the indicated method or by braking the drum while further winding the supporting rope onto the drum.

After unloading, the grab is turned back to the mining site and the cycle is repeated.

To prevent twisting of the ropes and significant swinging of the grab when turning the platform, a pull-out device called a damper is used. It acts on the grab bucket with a pull rope. The constant tension of the rope 2, independent of the position of the grab, is created by the weight of the load moving inside the boom along the guides, to which the rope bending around the blocks is attached.

On some excavator cranes, for this purpose they use the mechanism described below for opening the bottom of the bucket, on the drum of which a rope is attached.

The grab is equipped with a dragline lattice boom.

In addition to the two-jaw grab, there are grabs with a large number of jaws; the number and shape of the jaws depend on the type of material being handled. However, the principle diagram of their operation does not differ from the diagram of a double-jaw grab.

The disadvantage of a grab suspended on ropes is that it is impossible for them to develop dense soils: the weight of the grab is not enough to crash into the ground. Grabs are made of three types: light, medium and heavy, and the weight of the grapple used should be greater, the denser the soil. However, the heavier the grab, the less soil it can lift for a given excavator-crane stability. Consequently, the productivity of the equipment decreases.

Some foreign companies produce rigidly suspended grabs, which are mounted on the handle of a backhoe instead of a bucket. History of the T-25

Initially, the T-25 tractor was developed and produced at the Kharkov Tractor Plant. The first models rolled off the assembly line in 1966. Starting in 1972, they decided to establish production in the city of Vladimir, at the Vladimir Tractor Plant. Multi-bucket trench chain excavators EM-251 can change the position of the boom relative to the frame. It rolls along guides, which allows you to change the degree of its depth, and therefore the depth of the trench. When transporting the unit, the boom is in the upper position. The machine is controlled using a special remote control, which is located in the operator’s cabin on the right, near the gearshift lever. This allows the driver to simultaneously monitor the movement of the device and the operation of the digging mechanisms.

Chassis T-25

The movement of the tractor on the surface is ensured by a unit that connects the rear wheels of one axle. The front axle makes the product stable and also changes the direction of movement of the drive wheels. Technically, the complex of front chassis components consists of:

Rotary trench excavators

Rotary excavators continuously excavate soil and move it along the work front without stopping or turning off the unit. Soil is cut using the teeth or edges of buckets on the excavator rotor, and it is unloaded onto a continuously rotating conveyor, from where the soil is dumped into a dump. The conveyor is located on one side, usually the left, along the path of the excavator.

Rotary excavators used in the construction of main pipelines are capable of digging a trench up to 2.5 m deep and up to 2.4 m wide.

Rotary trench excavators develop trenches with rectangular and trapezoidal profiles. To give the trench walls slopes, special slopes are installed on the working part of the excavator.

Rotary excavators are capable of developing soils frozen to a depth of 1-1.5 m, and ETR-254 excavators are capable of digging to the entire digging depth (2.5 m).

The productivity of rotary trench excavators is higher than that of single-bucket excavators. They are capable of developing trenches in denser soils, on which single-bucket excavators can only work after preliminary loosening by drilling and blasting. Rotary excavators are more reliable and have a stable base for digging trenches on slopes; they can be used with a longitudinal slope of up to 20°.

Bucket excavators

Single-bucket excavators perform work on complex, rugged sections of the route and on sections of curved inserts. They are also used to develop trenches in watered, unstable and loose soils, in loose rocks and in soils with various solid inclusions (boulders, large stones, crushed stone, gravel, etc.). Sometimes single-bucket excavators are used in combination with other earth-moving machines, in particular, with rotary excavators (in cases where the design data of the latter does not allow the development of trenches of the required depth).

Single-bucket excavators are divided according to the type of working equipment: with a straight shovel; backhoe, dragline and grader bucket.

Some excavators have additional inserts for extending the boom, as well as crane equipment. Such excavators are called universal.

Tveks EK-14 excavators are produced in several modifications, differing in engines and hydraulics:

OP-25 has many advantages:

  • strict adherence to the rules for storing the fire extinguisher, since the powder composition under unfavorable conditions is prone to the formation of lumps and caking.
