The new model of JCB backhoe loader has caused quite a lively debate among experts: what to choose - old equipment at an affordable price or power, quality and comfort?

Description and technical characteristics of the mini tractor Belarus.

On this page you can find out the technical characteristics of the Uralets 180 mini tractor.

Model features

JCB 5CX backhoe loaders feature a robust one-piece frame, component transmission and a fully enclosed engine compartment. All compartments containing fluids and components can be locked using the ignition key. Special vehicles of this model are equipment with increased productivity and maneuverability, specially designed for operation in particularly difficult conditions. JCB 5CX backhoe loaders are capable of performing a full range of excavation and loading/unloading operations such as digging trenches, planning territories and production sites, loading and unloading, moving and transporting goods of all kinds.

Large buckets with a volume of 1.3 cubic meters and an impressive breaking force on the bucket, which is equal to 6590 kgf, guarantee fast and high-quality handling of any materials. Four-wheel steering provides excellent maneuverability on construction or production sites. The digging depth of JCB 5CX backhoe loaders, equal to 6.51 m, is the largest among all similar JCB equipment. The bridges, with a solid static load of 25 tons, are specially designed to cope successfully with the heaviest loads.

Since the JCB 5CX model has increased ground clearance and equal-sized wheels, these backhoe loaders demonstrate good maneuverability even on the most difficult soils. All wheels are also steerable to improve maneuverability and cross-country ability. Limited slip differentials improve traction and ensure efficient use of energy. Low 1st and 2nd gear ratios provide impressive pushing force.

The brakes, immersed in oil, are located inside the axles. They are characterized by consistently reliable and efficient operation. No additional maintenance required. The patented JCB TorqueLock torque converter locking system reduces fuel consumption while driving by 25 percent. The additional traction provided by the TorqueLock system reduces travel time by 10 percent. The design of the working bodies includes a special “JCB Smoothride” bucket vibration compensation system. It guarantees the retention of material in the bucket and significantly improves the operator’s comfort. To further reduce engine energy losses, backhoe loaders are equipped with the SRS smooth motion system, which prevents the tractor from swaying on uneven terrain.

The manufacturer draws special attention to potential buyers of the equipment to the ease of maintenance of the JCB 5CX backhoe loader. All components that require periodic inspection are located on this equipment in easily accessible places. Also, backhoe loaders of this model widely use polymer components that are not susceptible to corrosion.

JCB 5CX engine

The JCB 5CX uses a proprietary four-cylinder diesel engine. Its name is “JCB Dieselmax 444”; working volume – 4.4 liters. This power unit with a direct injection system has a power of 118 horsepower = 88 kilowatts at 2200 rpm. (rated power is determined according to ISO 14396 (SAE J1995 Gross). It is equipped with an intercooler and turbocharging; characterized by increased torque in the lower rev range, as well as low fuel consumption.

The JCB Dieselmax engine is able to withstand long-term operation in conditions close to extreme conditions, and was specially designed for just such intense work.

The cylinder diameter of the Dieselmax engine is 103 mm and the piston stroke is 132 mm. The maximum torque at 1300 rpm is 446 N.m. The environmental standard of this engine is Stage II.

Second position – JCB 3CX Super

An improved copy of the JCB 3CX. Focusing on ergonomics and aesthetics, the creators eliminated some minor shortcomings, giving the model new advantages. Unlike the JCB 3CX, it has tinted windows. At first glance, this is an insignificant detail, but it has its own charms, familiar to every driver. The three-section hood was replaced by a solid and smooth one, and all service points were placed on one side, which provided convenient access to the elements.

And the main distinguishing feature is the diesel engine. The developers designed it specifically for this model of car. What's remarkable about it? It is capable of producing an incredible amount of torque from idle.

Much attention was paid to filters. A counterflow valve was installed in the oil chamber, which allows fluid to be retained even when the engine is not running. The design includes a water separator that removes moisture from the fuel. A self-cleaning filter has been added to the air supply system.

The hydraulic steering system increases maneuverability and safety (in the event of a sudden stop, an emergency control program is triggered). The model of this loader is all-wheel drive. The transition from rear to full can be done either manually or automatically.

In conclusion, it is worth saying that the JCB 3CX Super fully lives up to its name “Super”. It has excellent characteristics: practical, easy to operate, has a comfortable cabin and excellent design. Spare parts for it are not cheap, but you need to try to disable any unit. If such a problem does occur, you can find a replacement in our catalog of spare parts for JCB special equipment.

Transmission

JCB 5CX backhoe loaders are equipped with a 6-speed manual gearbox (+4 reverse speeds), equipped with synchronizers at all speeds. It ensures smooth shifts and maintains high fuel efficiency. The transmission is equipped with automatic gear shifting from fourth to sixth. The kickdown mode allows you to achieve maximum power when working as a loader, and also guarantees a quick transition to first gear.

The transmission ensures minimal torque loss. When switching between forward and reverse, the Powershuttle system is used. Gear ratios are designed for maximum performance. Low 1st and 2nd gear ratios provide powerful traction when loading and clearing work areas. The JCB 5CX transmission is equipped with spring-loaded parking brakes with hydraulic release.

Purpose

The JCB 5CX backhoe loader is distinguished by its versatility, as it is capable of performing all tasks for both a front loader and an excavator. The manufacturer also offers a fairly large number of additional attachments, which can significantly expand the scope of application. Often, the equipment is used in construction, industrial sectors, utilities and even in rural areas (when frontal forks are used for loading hay and other dry vegetation). The equipment is capable of performing all types of excavation, transportation, loading and unloading and dismantling work.

Hydraulic system

The variable flow axial piston hydraulic pump provides dynamic flow control, reducing cycle times and providing additional fuel savings. The use of hydraulic cylinders of increased volume made it possible to create a significant reserve of power even when working with particularly massive loads. The breakout force on the bucket is 6590 kgf with a maximum digging depth of 6.51 m. JCB 5CX is equipped with reinforced buckets with a capacity of 1.3 m3, designed for digging soils of any complexity. These backhoe loaders are equipped with a system for automatically leveling and returning the bucket to digging.

The JCB 5CX's load-sensing hydraulic system varies hydraulic flow based on demand, increasing productivity and operating efficiency when needed. A full-flow filter with a filter fineness of 10 microns ensures that the hydraulic fluid is free of contaminants.

An alternative hydraulic control system, which is standard on 5CX backhoe loaders, is a system called Advanced EasyControl. It was developed by the company’s specialists on the basis of the well-tested and proven “EasyControl” system.

Among its features that increase the level of comfort when working as a machine operator: control levers for the excavator and loader mounted in the chair; telescopic steering column with built-in forward and reverse control lever for greater convenience. In addition, the high-performance "Advanced EasyControl" hydraulic system ensures maximum hydraulic flow

only when needed, and it provides additional fuel savings, reduced digging cycles and maximum productivity, and has additional filtration for increased efficiency and reliability.

A popular additional option is an exclusive development of JCB - a mechanism called “JCB Powerslide”. It allows the operator to hydraulically move the excavator boom carriage along the rear frame, controlling the process with a pedal or joystick in the cab. This feature eliminates the need to “push” the carriage along with the bucket, avoids damage to the ground and does not require moving the entire tractor. However, this option is only offered for open center systems.

How it all began

The JCB company was named after its creator, Joseph Cyril Bemfold. The history of the brand began in England in 1945, when the first trailer was released. It was equipped with a special manual mechanism that made it easy and convenient to lift and lower loads. Joseph’s car was noticed and helped to bring it to market soon. Within a couple of years, trailers began to be equipped with a hydraulic lift. Popularity quickly gained momentum: the product entered new markets, factories were built, and a signature yellow color appeared. Backhoe loaders, which were JCB's core products, became recognizable.

Today the company has eighteen enterprises in England, India, America, Brazil, China and Germany. The equipment is available in 150 countries.

Brake system

The JCB 5CX's class-leading hydraulic braking system comes as standard and provides consistently effective, trouble-free braking. The integrated, self-adjusting multi-disc brake design is oil-immersed to achieve minimal maintenance and has an extremely long service life. Braking is carried out by four wheels.

Dual brake pedals significantly reduce the turning radius and improve steering control on slippery or unstable ground. The automatic leveling system ensures that the vehicle brakes in a straight line. Increased brake pad release force reduces friction and saves fuel. Using oil from a single main hydraulic system eliminates the need for a separate brake fluid reservoir and also reduces maintenance costs.

These brakes provide proportional braking throughout the entire pedal stroke. The diameter of the brake discs is 220 mm. The friction area is 129,000 sq.mm per brake. The transmission system is equipped with a cone-ball type parking brake in an oil bath, which is capable of holding the machine on a slope of 1:3. This is a manually activated brake from the cab, with a transmission shut-off feature to prevent premature brake pad wear. The outer diameter of the five friction brake discs is 127 mm. The friction area of each brake disc is 47.65 square meters. cm, and the total friction area is 476.5 square meters. see. The described servo brakes are characterized by consistently high information content and have a significant reserve of braking force.

Chassis

The excavator is equipped with an Autoshift system, which automatically changes three gears, starting with the fourth. This reduces fuel consumption and ensures smooth running. Maximum power can be reached by enabling the kickdown option.

JCB 5CX wheels

The JCB 5CX excavator loader is equipped with equal-sized wheels, each of which is steerable. Thus, the operator selects an operating mode with the ability to turn only the front wheels, all wheels or crab drive. Based on this, consumers note such qualities of equipment as maneuverability, versatility and cross-country ability in any conditions. A unique chassis with reinforcement in individual parts allows to reduce the overall weight of the special vehicle and increase strength.

Excavator axles are characterized by high strength and are equipped with limited slip differentials. This allows the tires to be used for a longer period of time, eliminating the risk of slipping and guaranteeing traction even when driving in icy areas. The brakes are multi-disc and operate in oil; they also have a long service life. Installing a hydraulic booster allows you to reduce the operator’s effort when braking, and distinguish the equipment from similar machines.

Attachments

The boom of the JCB 5CX backhoe loader is made of high-quality steel that has undergone special heat treatment. During this treatment, the material was placed in an oven heated to +650 degrees Celsius for 16 hours. As numerous tests have shown, the components and mechanisms of backhoe loaders are able to withstand sudden temperature changes, as well as exposure to aggressive chemicals and ultraviolet radiation.

The main and standard excavator bucket for the JCB 5CX is the 1.3 cc bucket. However, the equipment can also work with other types of buckets, of various volumes and purposes, 1-6 teeth; as well as with trench cleaning buckets and trapezoidal buckets; with forks built into a quick-release carriage; with hydraulic hammers. The JCB 5CX hammer circuit can switch between low and high flow hydraulics and is compatible with unidirectional flow attachments such as hammers, planers and compactors.

Also available is a combined hammer and bi-directional hydraulic circuit with the ability to switch between high and low hydraulic flow. This allows the use of the entire range of attachments and ensures its high versatility.

Price

The JCB 5CX backhoe loader with zero mileage is available in the markets at a cost ranging from 3 million rubles to 4.5 million Russian rubles, depending on the year of production, configuration, installed attachments, and on the version (modified or basic).

In addition, you can now find used equipment in fairly good technical condition. The cost of such machines currently varies depending on the year of production, the number of hours worked and additional equipment (if included). On average, this option can cost from 1.8 million rubles to 3.2 million Russian rubles.

An hourly rental service or for a full work shift currently costs about 1,800 Russian rubles, depending on the type of work performed and the location of the facility.

JCB 5CX backhoe loader cab

Excellent visibility and high safety during work are achieved through the use of panoramic glazing in the cabin - large tinted windows with a total area of 6.4 square meters. A heated windshield is already standard on the backhoe loader. The JCB 5CX cab is certified to modern ROPS and FOPS safety standards (there is a frame inside the cab that reliably protects the operator in the event of a tractor rollover or a falling load), and complies with ISO 3471 and 3449 (SAE J1040 and J231). The tractor cabin is mounted on dampers that effectively dampen any vibrations. All lighting fixtures are protected from damage.

The operator's seat is equipped with a lap seat belt, a full range of adjustments and lumbar support. This, combined with good vibration and noise protection of the cabin (the noise level in it is the lowest in the entire industry!) helps to reduce operator fatigue to a minimum and postpone fatigue “for later”.

The cabin provides space for installing a radio and two speakers for stereo sound. Access to the salon is through one of the doors. The rear windows can be opened fully or partially for better ventilation. The standard backhoe loader cabin also includes a 3-speed fan/heater with recirculation mode, windshield and rear window washer/wiper, front and rear horns, and a smooth, easy-to-clean interior floor.

The instrument panel is located in the cabin to the right of the operator's seat and is clearly visible both during loading and during excavation work. It can be additionally equipped with a lockable vandal-proof lid. This panel houses the tachometer, fuel gauge, and coolant temperature sensor.

Air conditioning system; a heated air-cushion chair (automatically adjusting to the operator’s weight); interior heater “Eberspacher” (for operation in harsh climates); a built-in coffee maker is an additional option that improves work comfort. In general, the interior of the JCB 5CX cabin is designed in the style of modern cars and is not much different from them.

Operator's cabin

When setting the price of the JCB 5CX, the manufacturer took into account the cost of manufacturing the cabin. This is a modern cabin, characterized by increased comfort and installation of the necessary options.

For the operator's convenience, handrails, large doors, and steps with a lattice base are provided for entering the cab to increase traction with the operator's sole when working in snowy weather and other precipitation conditions.

JCB 5CX driver's seat

The cabin is characterized by reduced noise. An operator's seat on an air cushion is also installed here; it has a heating function and armrests on which the controls are located. They are represented by universal and ergonomic servo joysticks. This position of the controls reduces operator fatigue and ensures his concentration on the work process. The customer has the right to independently determine the controls that are necessary. These can be joysticks or a standard manual system with the ability to switch to X, SAE+ and ISO+ modes. To ensure work safety, there are wide windows that provide a wide viewing angle of the work site.

Standard equipment includes installation of air conditioning. The main indicators of the equipment during operation are displayed on the LCD monitor. A refrigerator is also installed in the cab so that the operator can take a lunch break without leaving the workplace. This is also convenient when working in the summer.

The cabin interior is carefully thought out, making it as comfortable as possible for the driver: air suspension, adjustable steering column, armrests, working external lighting, heating, and many technical settings. The location of the control elements is ergonomic, which allows you to work quickly and productively. Air conditioning, window cleaners and even a two-speaker radio will please every driver.

Reviews from JCB 5CX backhoe loaders owners

Russian owners characterize the flagship model purely on the positive side. Often, this is the owner and operator in one person, i.e. who operates the special vehicle himself. In winter they are mainly engaged in clearing snow, in other seasons they are engaged in constructing pits for construction.

According to the owners, the JCB 5CX has a speed of all working operations that is one and a half times higher than the more popular models of JCB backhoe loaders: lifting, lifting, and digging. A foundation pit for a 240 cubic meter house takes nine hours of work.

Many lubrication points: 27 in front and 27 in rear, + axles and cardan shafts. Servicing this farm takes about one and a half hours. And you need to do it before each shift (before starting work, or in the evening). The engine demonstrates very decent power indicators: “...it tears the airfield slab, it tears frozen clay, but it’s not worth overloading.” It doesn’t fail in frosty weather, it starts up properly. The comfort in the cabin and the thoughtfulness of its interior space invariably earn praise from JCB 5CX owners.

The best of the best is the JCB 3CX

The first such machine was designed back in 1977. Since then it has been modified and improved. To this day it has not lost its position as a leader among loaders.

The JCB 3CX is versatile and multifunctional. It has small dimensions, which makes it very maneuverable. All-wheel drive allows you to work in any area, even in difficult conditions. Large equal-sized wheels provide high maneuverability.

The uniqueness of the model lies in the innovative “track to track” system. With two drive axles that are easy to control, the wheels can move in different directions. Reliable hydraulics ensure uninterrupted operation even in severe frosts. The design details are resistant to the sun, many chemical compounds, and salt.

The uses for the 3CX forklift are virtually limitless. He performs the following types of work:

  • cleaning of construction sites;
  • road laying;
  • landscape leveling;
  • digging trenches;
  • cargo transportation;
  • crushing stones, coal and other hard rocks.

The design of the device allows it to function stably in limited areas. Simple controls significantly optimize all actions, reducing operator labor costs.

The truck's powerful four-cylinder engine is very economical and reduces fuel consumption without compromising productivity. The special design of the oil filter keeps the fluid clean for much longer, reducing maintenance costs.

The developers paid special attention to efficiency and ease of operation. The battery is located at the front, you can add lubricant and refuel the machine while standing on the ground, and the outlet of the hydraulic tank is also within reach.

The control system was designed specifically for this type of machine, so it couldn’t be more convenient and thoughtful. The gearbox is fully synchronized, the drive switch is located on the steering wheel. This eliminates interruptions in work and does not reduce speed.

The disc brake system is self-regulating, with a servo drive. It allows for efficient braking over many years of intensive use.

What is characteristic of JCB equipment is the ease of changing attachments. The rear working tool includes a telescopic boom, a hydraulic hammer, cutters, brushes, a snow blade and various types of buckets. For the front there is a classic or jaw bucket. This allows the technology to be used in many areas of activity.

The machine's cabin is made in accordance with all standards: noise and vibration insulation, modern air conditioning and heating systems, audiovisual control, comfortable working area, lighting and many other small but very significant details. Being in such a special vehicle, you understand that every detail has been thought out here.

The JCB 3CX model on the modern market is presented in several versions: Sitemaster (telescopic handle instead of the usual fixed one), Contractor (motor with increased power), Pothole Master (equipped with special devices for road maintenance). But special attention should be paid to the Super model. It can deservedly be placed in second place among the most popular JCB loaders.
