Chassis features
The front suspension of KAMAZ-65206 is on leaf springs, the rear axles are on pneumatics, both drive axles are supported by four pneumatic cylinders, integral brackets and a reaction rod system. The new KamAZ-65206 truck tractor is equipped (depending on modification and purpose) with one of two gearboxes:
ZF 16S2221. Sixteen-speed “mechanics” from a famous German manufacturer. The gearbox consists of a main four-speed unit with a range and a front divider. The forward gears are engaged through a synchronizer, the rear gears are engaged using a cam mechanism. The box is controlled remotely using a swing-type lever.
ZF-AS Tronic . This twelve-speed automatic transmission is equipped with the top versions of the KamAZ-65206. The unit is controlled using an electronic unit mounted in the steering column. The automatic transmission provides good acceleration dynamics, including on mountain roads.
The interaction between the transmission and the engine occurs with the assistance of a ZF-Sachs MFZ-430 dry single-plate clutch (combined with a manual transmission). The unit has a hydraulic drive and a pneumatic booster.
