The updated version of the Vector VR-5 drilling rig includes the advantages of URB drilling rigs that have been firmly established in the market and proven over the years and the capabilities of modern developments in the field of drilling equipment.
This drilling rig offers its owners the opportunity to drill water wells and geotechnical wells in various ways: with flushing or purging, percussion-rope, pneumatic percussion, auger, core, roller and diamond methods.
A striking example of a combination of such advantages is the use of the URB-2A-2 and URB-2A-2D rotator, well known among specialists, which in the new installation received additional mobility. Sliding rotator technology allows you to create conditions for maximum efficiency.
The updated version of the installation combines various possibilities for performing drilling operations, while the quality of the hydraulic systems is significantly improved, and additional opportunities are provided to speed up and facilitate hoisting operations. The drilling rig is equipped with a removable table, a winch with a free release function, a hydraulic casing lifting device and a reinforced mast with the ability to quickly install attachments.
The hydraulic part contains only high-quality components made in Italy, the maximum pressure in the hydraulic system is 300 Bar, and the operating temperature range extends from -40 to +40ºС.
The similarity of the updated Vector installation with the usual URB-2A-2 solutions allows us to significantly reduce the training time for employees and begin operational operation of the device as quickly as possible.
Drilling rig ugb-50m
The drilling rig is designed for hydrogeological, engineering-geological, as well as exploratory drilling of wells up to 50 m deep using a rotary auger and percussion-rope method. If you have a mud pump, you can perform core drilling to a depth of 100 m.
The unit is mounted on the chassis of a GAZ-66 vehicle. A specially equipped trailer with a set of drilling tools is transported along with the installation.
The 8 meter high mast allows you to lift candles up to 6 meters long. When carrying out hoisting operations, the rotator is moved to the side, freeing up space for lifting augers or impact tools. All installation mechanisms are driven by a D-48 diesel engine with a power of 35.3 kW installed in the vehicle body. Installation weight 5.1 tons.

UGB-50M - drilling “grandmother”
The first Russian production of drilling tools and drilling rigs was opened at the base. For more than 100 years, the plant has produced and continues to produce drilling tools for drilling wells for various purposes: geological exploration, seismic exploration, water wells and others. Every year, developers offer new solutions, improve drilling rig production technology, and produce modern drilling rigs and tools.
In the post-war years, the plant mastered the production of multi-purpose drilling rigs, which, among other things, were used to drill water wells. Until the end of the 80s of the last century, serial production of UGB-50 M drilling rigs was carried out, which replaced the UGB-1VS rigs, and then the PBU-1 and PBU-2 drilling rigs.
However, the heads of drilling companies are in no hurry to abandon the reliable UGB-50M drilling rigs, and here's why:
- The transverse arrangement of the winch is the best option; during the modernization they came to a longitudinal arrangement (UGB-1VS), and now they have returned to the transverse arrangement (PBU).
- The transmission of rotational force from the gearbox to the UGB-50M winch occurs through a gear, and on UGB-1VS, PBU, through a chain drive, which often requires replacement or repair.
- UGB-50M has an “eternal” mechanical drive, which is often superior in reliability to the capricious hydraulic drive of PBU-2, especially in cold weather.
- On the UGB 1-VS, to increase the speed, they began to install accelerators, thereby complicating the hydraulics; on the PBU-2 there is no accelerator, just like on the UGB-50.
Among the shortcomings, one can note only the short stroke of the rotator (1.5 m) versus 4 m (UGB-1VS, PBU-2), but you can get used to it.
The UGB 50 drilling rig is multifunctional, mobile and reliable, and spare parts for it can be found almost everywhere due to its long-term production, high prevalence and extreme wear resistance.
Due to the reliability of the UGB-50M rig, drillers nicknamed it the “drilling grandma.” In the automotive industry, it can be compared to the GAZ-66 army vehicle, a vehicle that has no competitors on off-road terrain. By the way, the UGB-50M installation was mainly mounted on the GAZ-66 chassis.

Device
The drilling rig is a platform on which a telescopic mast with a traverse and crown blocks and a hydraulic pump along with a gearbox are installed. The platform itself is located on the chassis of a ZIL-131 truck. In addition, there are two trailers, one of which is transported by the installation itself, and the second requires an additional vehicle. The first trailer contains a drilling rig kit with a complete water intake device. On the second one there is a drilling tool for mine wells. If there is no need, then it is not necessary to carry a trailer with you.
Drilling rig diagram PBU-50
How does a drilling rig work? The engine, through the gearbox, rotates the driveshaft, which in turn transmits power to the power take-off. Next, the torque goes to the hydraulic pump drive and gearbox. In this way, the hydraulic pump is driven, but the remaining power goes to the winch and impact mechanism gearbox, and also through the corner and one upper gearboxes to the triangular shaft and, finally, to the rotator. So what does a hydraulic pump do? And he is responsible for raising the mast, as well as lowering and raising the rotator, which creates additional pressure during drilling.
It is also worth noting that the winch was used not only for working with drilling tools, but also for lifting/lowering casing pipes, reinforced concrete and wooden rings, as well as for other auxiliary work.
Basic and additional configurations
The basic package includes the drilling rig itself with tools and equipment, as well as two trailers, which were described above. In this case, the installation can carry out both drilling of water intake wells and construction of wells.
And additional equipment allows you to expand installation possibilities. If desired, you can add equipment for drilling wells for engineering, technical and geological work, as well as for the construction of geological exploration pits.
However, for a simple entrepreneur, a hole drill, which can be used in construction, will be much more useful.
LBU-50 performs the following types of work:
— rotary auger and impact-driving drilling of hydrogeological and technical wells in rocks up to category IV in terms of drillability; — sinking pits in rocks up to category IV in terms of drillability using a rotary method (flights) using an auger drill; — rotary core and coreless drilling of geological exploration, hydro- and engineering-geological, technical wells in rocks up to category VII in terms of drillability using water and aqueous solutions as a cleaning agent; — rotary core and coreless drilling of wells for various purposes with bottom hole cleaning using a stream of compressed air in rocks up to category VII in terms of drillability; — rotary impact core and coreless drilling of wells for various purposes using hydraulic impact downhole machines in rocks up to VII (with interlayers VIII) drillability category; — rotary impact core and coreless drilling of wells for various purposes using pneumatic impact downhole machines in rocks up to VII (with interlayers VIII) drillability category.

Drilling rig URB-2A2
The URB-2A2 drilling rig is designed for rotary drilling with bits and carbide bits. All mechanisms included in the installation, including a transfer case that transmits rotation from the vehicle's propulsion engine, an NB-32 mud pump or a KT-7 compressor, a mast with a crown block, a movable rotator and a single-cylinder double-acting hydraulic lift, a control panel for the installation mechanisms, oil tanks To provide oil to the hydraulic system of the drilling rig, they are mounted on a frame mounted on the chassis of a ZIL-131 vehicle.
The drilling rig is equipped with a two-axle trailer for transporting pipes, augers and tools. It is equipped with a jib crane for loading and unloading operations.
The installation has a movable rotator, which is used in the drilling process, extending the tool without removing it from the bottom and, together with a hydraulic lift, performs the work of lowering and lifting the tool and forcing it to the bottom. The kinematics and power of the rotator also ensure make-up and break-out of drill pipes, thereby eliminating the need for special mechanisms for this purpose.
Rotation from the vehicle's running engine at n = 1800 rpm is transmitted through the gearbox and transfer case of the vehicle using cardan shafts to the transfer case of the drilling rig. The installation has an emergency manual oil pump that allows you to move the rotator and lay the mast. Using pressure gauges on the injection line, you can judge the torque and axial load on the bottom.
The rotator is a three-speed gearbox with a spur gear in a cast steel housing. From the control panel, you can change and reverse the spindle rotation speed in each gear from zero to maximum by throttling the fluid supplied to the rotator hydraulic motor.
For drilling with flushing and purging, the spindle is made hollow. A swivel seal is mounted on its upper end and attached to the roof of the rotator housing. A hinged elevator or chuck (when drilling with augers) is mounted on the lower end of the spindle on a spline fit, which are attached to the housing cover with half-clamps.
The installation mast is welded from channel pipes. It rests on supports mounted on the frame and is hinged to them. The mast is raised and lowered by a hydraulic cylinder.
Using the URB-2A2 installation, you can drill with bottom hole cleaning using flushing liquid or bottom hole blowing, for which a mud pump or compressor is mounted on the installation, and in favorable conditions you can drill using an auger method.
