The Kamaz power take-off is a complex mechanism that should be closely monitored during operation. It will be difficult for you to shift if even a small part has failed, and it can also lead to more serious damage to your vehicle. The Kamaz gearbox diagram will be extremely clear to anyone who understands this area, but it may no longer be possible to cope with the problem alone, due to the significant size of the vehicle.

As soon as large-scale production of the KamAZ-4310 vehicle began, it began to be sent to the active army. Most of the vehicles entered the “limited contingent of Soviet troops” located in Afghanistan. The military liked the new all-terrain vehicle. There were no particular difficulties in mastering it, since the army already had experience using the KamAZ-5320 truck.

Compared to other types of transport that were used in real combat conditions in Afghanistan, the KamAZ-4310 was much more comfortable. In addition, it was one of the most reliable cars, since military acceptance did not allow cars with poor build quality. The steering received particular praise - the heavy truck did not require significant effort from the driver when maneuvering.

At the same time, operation in such harsh conditions revealed a number of shortcomings. Complaints were caused, for example, by frequent leaks of the cooling system, which turned out to be too “gentle” for the road conditions of Afghanistan. The cylinder heads also did not show the required tightness - after 50 thousand kilometers, oil began to ooze from them.

As a result, all this military experience made it possible to greatly improve the car. Improvements made the design more durable and durable, its characteristics increased significantly.

How does a transfer case work?

The torque between the shaft gears is transferred to the races and satellites. The gears, carried by the satellites, allow you to move along a good, damage-free road as a single unit. If the road becomes uneven, for example, off-road, the front axle and the bogie move differently, and then the epicycle with the sun gear rotates at different speeds, and the satellites rotate not only around the main axis, but also around their own axes.

Both gears can turn on at the same time, and to prevent this, a lock is supposed to prevent this from happening. If we take into account the differential lock, then when locked, the pneumatic chamber moves the clutch, which serves as a connecting element between the cage and the drive shaft on the front axle. This allows you to move on roads of different quality, both good and poor quality, as a single mechanism, the torque is proportionally distributed between the front axle and the bogie, as are the loads on them.

To eliminate the load on the transmission, the differential is constantly active, that is, unlocked. Only in a situation where you are driving on slippery roads should you use a lock, as this reduces the risk of wheel slipping and guarantees the safe movement of the vehicle.

Lubricating the RK is quite simple. It is enough to spray the oil, and about five liters of oil of a certain brand are poured into the crankcase.

How to start the engine and move off in a heavy-duty vehicle

To start the engine of a heavy-duty vehicle, you must first understand in detail the KamAZ gearbox diagram, which is slightly different from the usual gearbox diagram of passenger cars. The only similar thing for such cars is that when starting the engine and trying to pull away, the clutch pedal must be depressed. After this, KamAZ is supposed to switch gears in several stages. As an example, here is a diagram of the start and acceleration of a KamAZ truck on a flat, hard-surfaced road:

1. First "B".

2. Second "B".

3. Third "B".

4. Switch to secondary “H” and go to fourth gear.

5. Switch back to primary “B”, but remain on fourth.

6. Turn on “H” and go to the last fifth gear.

7. We return to the lightweight option “B” and continue moving on the fifth.

As you can see, the main feature of driving with a KamAZ gearbox with a diesel engine is the need for an easy start from low speeds and a smooth increase in speed. If we are talking about difficult driving conditions or a heavy load on the car itself, then, although the start will still need to be carried out with sequential switching from first to fifth gear, it is recommended to activate the first four gears in the heavier secondary “H” mode, after which the fourth transfer the gear to mode “B”, switch to the fifth “H” and, if possible, switch to “B” again. However, all this should be done taking into account the following recommendations:

1. Before driving off a KamAZ truck, be sure to accelerate the crankshaft of the vehicle engine to 7 thousand revolutions per minute.

2. Switching to second gear is possible only after the tachometer registers 3 thousand rpm (its arrow will show the number “3”).
