Over the past fifteen years, there has been a steady global growth in the production of mini tractors. About a hundred companies producing various types of equipment in America, Europe and Asia are developing small-scale mechanization equipment, adapting it to almost all areas of industrial and agricultural production. All tractors are classified by traction class, but the main feature for mini tractors remains engine power. Experts classify mini tractors as wheeled or tracked vehicles with an engine power of up to 40 hp. Their use allows not only to reduce the share of manual labor, but also to significantly increase the efficiency of the work performed. However, such equipment shows high efficiency when working on small land or industrial plots. Japan's limited land resources determined the need to use every piece of land with the greatest efficiency. This gave impetus to the development of this production segment decades ago. And today, a significant part of the mini-equipment market belongs to Japanese manufacturers. European manufacturers are not far behind them. Italian BCS, German AGRIA, Swedish STIGA and other brands are quite widely represented on the domestic market. However, European mini tractors have a relatively higher price and are not adapted to Russian operating conditions.
In cooperation with Chinese manufacturers at the Chelyabinsk enterprise Traktor LLC managed to establish the production of inexpensive and reliable mini tractors suitable for Russian conditions. One of the most popular models was Uralets-180.
Description
The first models of the Uralets 180 minitractor appeared in the early nineties; they were copied from Chinese tractors.
Currently, in the Ural region there are only a few units left from the Chinese one; it is produced in Chelyabinsk.
URALETS-180
The Uralets 180 minitractor is a universal unit that works effectively in all agricultural work on an area of up to 10 hectares, and is widely used in industrial and private construction, as well as in the public sector.
The tractor has found application in livestock farms, greenhouses and warehouses.
The mini tractor is equipped with a four-stroke diesel engine with an output of 18 hp. with water cooling, starter – electric. Uralets 180 has rear-wheel drive.
The tractor is produced without a cabin. Wheel formula 2x4.
The difference from the Chinese model is special protection for the electrical wiring, improved design of the power transmission, chassis, rear suspension and increased capacity of the on-board battery.
Some series of Uralets mini tractors can be equipped with gasoline internal combustion engines, similar in power, but with lower traction characteristics. The Uralets XT-180 modification is equipped with a Chinese Xingtai engine.
The base model of the Uralets 180 minitractor provides for the installation of a differential, which you can refuse! If you purchased a modification without a differential, then it will be impossible to install this function later.
Basic equipment
In addition to the basic model, Traktor LLC assembles a modification of the Uralets XT-180, the main difference of which is the Chinese-made engine. The remaining parameters and characteristics are identical. The Uralets-180 minitractor is aggregated with various additional implements, both of our own production and of other brands.
The most popular are the following attachments:
- for cleaning large stems of grass - mowers (rotary mower, sliding hammer mower and chopper mower);
- for making hay - a mounted hay thrower, a baler;
- for raking dry grass - tedder rake and cross rake;
- for municipal work - garden vacuum cleaner, snow blower, wood splitter, brush, trailer;
- for soil cultivation - a mounted drill, a rotary cutter, a reversible plow, a sprinkler, as well as cultivators, potato planters and potato diggers.
It should be noted that Uralets-180 cannot work with heavy equipment; it is not even permissible to install them. For example, an excavator or a front loader.

Attachments
Additional accessories are installed on the minitractor using a power take-off shaft and a hydraulic system.
Thanks to the improved on-board hydraulics system, the capabilities of the minitractor are significantly expanded - it is possible to install additional mechanisms with a built-in hydraulic motor.
Uralets 180 can be easily aggregated with a variety of agricultural equipment: harrows, plows, hillers, tillers, rotary mowers and rakes.
In the municipal sector, brushes, lawn mowers, and a bulldozer blade are used. With a trailer, the Uralets 180 is capable of transporting loads up to 1.5 tons.
Attention! The design does not provide for the installation of an excavator bucket and a front-end loader on the Uralets 180.
URALETS-180
Operating a mini tractor
The unit is designed for intensive use. It has proven itself optimally when working in difficult conditions, and is characterized by increased reliability of the linkage mechanism and an improved on-board hydraulic system.
According to reviews from owners, the Uralets 180 is a technique that does not require specialized knowledge for operation and repair, but in order to learn how to skillfully operate a mini tractor, it will take some time.
URALETS-180
Advantages, disadvantages
Advantages:
- Low market value, which leads to rapid self-sufficiency.
- Quite maneuverable chassis. This is confirmed by excellent reviews from people working in tight spaces.
- Effective level of efficiency when working on a field with a size of 3...6 hectares.
- Large list of connected mechanisms.
Flaws:
- Without skills it is difficult to operate a tractor. It is advisable to undergo special driving training.
- Engine breakdowns lead to its replacement, and this is 40-50% of the cost of the entire car.
- Attachments are expensive, sometimes they reach a price tag of 100 thousand rubles.
Peculiarities
Thanks to the differential locking mechanism, high ground clearance, and deep wheel tread, good cross-country ability is ensured when operating on difficult terrain.
When performing work with a variety of attachments, it is possible to adjust the track width: front axle 120-134 cm, rear axle 100-120 cm.
The compact, rational arrangement of the main mechanisms, components, and simple design make it possible to carry out independent maintenance and repair work.
Optimal maintainability of the Uralets minitractor is ensured thanks to a wide range of standardized components, parts, and consumables made in Russia.
Maintenance and routine work are carried out in accordance with the mini tractor operating instructions from the manufacturer, taking into account the configuration (diesel or carburetor engine).
Every day it is necessary to clean the minitractor from dirt, check the oil in the crankcase (SAE 10W40, Sae 15W40 oil is used) and fuel in the tank (AI 92 gasoline), and check the reliability of fastening connections.
At the end of field work, conservation is carried out, namely: the tractor is cleaned of dirt, dried, oil and fuel are drained, parts are lubricated to prevent corrosion, covered and placed in a dry place.
Machine structure
The tractor transmission unit is made with a closed disc clutch. The gearbox is divided into 6 switchable speeds: 4 speeds for forward movement, 2 for reverse movement. The range of travel speeds is 2.39...27.01 km per hour. If the blocking is turned on, the machine can easily overcome small areas of fields with problematic surfaces. Due to its traction performance, the machine is used as a tractor. To activate additional equipment, the PTO must be connected to the transmission. The rear wheels are larger in diameter than the front wheels. The on-board hydraulic system controls all connected devices. Fastening of the hinged mechanism is allowed both from the front and from the back.
Owner reviews
Maxim , Chelyabinsk region: “The Uralets 180 tractor is truly a universal tractor, on my farm absolutely all work can be done with it - plowing, mowing, transporting crops and various loads, cleaning the territory. During the time it has been working, it has already paid for itself more than once.” Leonid : “I’ve been using the Uralets 180 diesel for two seasons. Convenient in a greenhouse, in a new garden, between rows, planting and digging up potatoes. There is enough power and it uses fuel economically. Among the shortcomings - weak plastic - easily scratched, cracks, decorative attachments on the body broke off almost immediately. Of course, this did not affect the functionality, but still. Minor breakdowns happen, but this is technology, not without it. And I’m happy with the unit”
Test review of the mini tractor Uralets-180
At Sabantui 2012 I witnessed how two villagers bought mini-tractors. This is necessary - to come to the folk festivals and leave with a tractor! What I saw impressed me so much that I decided to call.
In my opinion, Traktor LLC was happy with what they heard; in any case, they expressed a desire to send several models of mini-tractors to the editorial office:
– You test them, run them in, and then share your impressions. All costs for the operation and performance of tractors are on your shoulders.
10 days have passed, and here again a call from the Chelyabinsk region: the Tractor LLC truck is already in your city, unload the tractor.
Yes, this is Uralets-180. Small, about half the size of a car. Cherry red, with slanted eyes, that is, headlights. Bah, it's Chinese! Chinese of Russian blood. Russian blood, because it is collected in Russia, in the Chelyabinsk region.
The Uralets instrument panel is extremely simple: sensors for oil pressure, battery charge and coolant temperature. Also, a turn switch, toggle switches for the horn and front and rear lights, and an ignition switch. That's all! A real harsh Chelyabinsk tractor!
Let's see what this "Uralets" can do. Having pumped up the fuel pump, I fully depress the clutch and gas pedals, turn on decompression and turn the ignition key. The electric starter quickly spins the flywheel of a two-pot (two-cylinder) engine, little by little diluting and accelerating the oil in the crankcase, as evidenced by the arrow of the oil pressure sensor. Eh, diesel doesn’t like to start in the winter cold! On the third attempt, I decide to turn off decompression: the electric starter sharply slows down, but does not stop. Finally, belching clouds of blue smoke, the diesel started working. After waiting a couple more minutes, I release the clutch and adjust the manual fuel supply. That's it, the tractor is ready for everyday work.
While the engine is warming up, I glance over the technical documentation of the Uralets. How to start, how to operate, how to carry out maintenance. And here is the catalog, which lists in detail all the parts of the minitractor, starting from the gearshift lever knob and ending with the last left-hand thread of the crankshaft.
I was pleasantly surprised by the speed range of the mini-tractor. Three forward speeds, one reverse, plus their increased and decreased variations - this is enough to find the optimal haymaking mode depending on the terrain, weather conditions and type of grass cover. And on the “third higher” (27 kph!) in the heat you can drive to the nearest river and take a swim!
Having had my fill of driving around the territory, I stop; It would be a good idea to further explore the possibilities of using additional mounted units. Although, of the additional units, only a rear-mounted shovel is available, which was provided to us along with the tractor. According to the season, as I understand it. Well, let's clear the snow. A standard three-point hitch system, familiar from childhood, on which I fixed the shovel within 2 minutes. The shovel looks like a toy: 30-40 kilograms of weight, 120 centimeters wide, stiffening ribs.
This time the tractor started with a “half kick”. This is why I love the “atmospheric” diesel, it’s the absence of any problems, such as the quality of the “spark”, setting the timing, spark plug gap, etc. The main thing here is that the diesel fuel is of high quality. You won’t get far on “left-handed” diesel fuel, bought at half price from your neighbor Belazista. You can leave, but the fuel injection pump will shut down at the most inopportune moment, and this will mean additional costs: repairs, setting up fuel equipment, damaged nerve cells, and finally.
I lower the shovel and begin shoveling snow in second gear. Having driven about 20 meters, the Uralets slowed down, and now we are no longer moving forward, but standing still and rowing the air with our rear wheels. Hmmm, this is not a bulldozer, alas. 940 kilograms of a mini-tractor, plus my weight of 70 kg - this is clearly not enough for good, reliable traction of the tractor wheels with snow. I lift the shovel and continue to advance lightly. Thus, in two passes it is possible to complete snow removal along the entire length of a 30-meter-long asphalt path. This means that the algorithm of action is as follows: first you need to shovel the snow with a shovel loosely pressed to the soil, and then drive around a second time, removing the remains. It will turn out incomparably slower than on the T-170, but definitely faster than with a brigade of “utility workers” armed with scrapers and snow shovels.
Three days have passed since the Uralets-180 mini-tractor appeared at the editorial office’s disposal. During this time, one might say, I managed to fall in love with this car. Judge for yourself: economical, easy to drive, beautiful, after all. Even from a purely practical point of view, it has more advantages than disadvantages: an electric starter, fuel injection pump, gear-type oil pump, gearbox, fuel and oil filters - everything is at hand, in easily accessible places. If, God forbid, you happen to start repairs in the field, you will spend a minimum of time disassembling this or that unit. Machine operators know how troublesome it is to “halve” a universal row-crop tractor, such as MTZ or YuMZ: you will need a hoist, several assistants and a lot of “repair hours”. With the “Uralets” there are many fewer problems: you put two blocks under the tractor, unscrewed 10 bolts, removed four rods, 4 pipes, and now you have removed the small engine. I threw it in the trunk of my car, took it to the nearest service station, left it for capital - that’s all.
In general, I was so delighted with this tractor that I decided to share this same delight with the entire population of Sibay and the Baymak region. Well, or with the most curious part of this very population. It’s decided – we’re going to the collective farm market!
If you agree with the statement that money saved is money earned, then I earned 200 rubles at the market. Entry to the market for the equipment put up for sale cost 200 rubles, so I saved it by entering not through a guarded gate, but through a pedestrian gate, which is out of sight of the security guards, just like that! A tractor with dimensions of 2530x1200x1700mm will fit into any gap. He brazenly drove into the territory, took a place among the cars for sale, and began to wait for the curious. We didn't have to wait long.
The vast majority of people came up with the same words:
- Well, how much does such a toy cost?
Seeing that the “toy” unfolds almost on the spot, has a power take-off shaft of 540 rpm, a hydraulic linkage with a lifting capacity of 350 kg, electric start, a differential, and can work with more than 20 types of attachments, all those who asked were equally delighted, as does your humble servant. True, one or two skeptics were interested in the answer to the question - if something happens, is it possible to find spare parts for them?
– All spare parts are supplied according to the catalogue. In general, when selling a tractor, it is equipped with spare filters, crankshaft bearings, oil seals and even plunger pairs.
The answer reassured everyone; and then I fired a control shot to the head:
– For a whole day of work in haymaking, he consumes 7, at most 8 liters of diesel fuel, yes, yes.
The overall impressions of the Uralets-180 were pleasant. If a tractor is useful in winter, then in summer it certainly won’t be of any value – it’s like two and two make four! Variety of driving speeds – one, presence of a power take-off shaft – two, hydraulic attachments – three, easy engine starting – four, comfortable seat – five. Also, don’t forget about the wide selection of attachments. But the most important advantage of this tractor, of course, is its efficiency: during the entire time that the tractor was at our disposal, we refueled it only once, filled it with 12 liters of diesel fuel, and that was it. Working a shift with 7-8 liters of diesel fuel, which is now worth its weight in gold, isn’t it fantastic? Buy such an assistant, and live and enjoy life to the envy of others.
