Manufactured by the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant, the T-800 bulldozer performs the functions of a bulldozer and ripper. The machine has a caterpillar drive, a large mass, and its basis is a tractor. The second name of the car is T-75.01. The T-800 ChTZ is the largest and most productive European machine, thanks to which it was able to get into the Guinness Book of Records. The engine of the car is also worth special attention. The traction force of the equipment is 75 tons, so it belongs to the 75 traction class.

The production of the T-800 bulldozer began in 1983. The reason for its appearance was the need to complete large volumes of work in a short time. The main areas of application at that time were land reclamation, road construction and mining. However, the bulldozer is adapted to work in particularly difficult conditions - for example, for working with frozen and rocky soils.

Technical characteristics and dimensions

As mentioned earlier, the tractor is quite large:

Due to such impressive dimensions, its mass is 106 tons (including the working body - 29.5 tons). The caterpillar track can be represented by two types of belts, depending on the conditions of the working site - one weighs 8 tons (for loam), the other - 6 tons (for rocks), while the specific pressure on the base is 91.4 kPa.

The engine is installed with a power of 820 horsepower, the fuel consumption of the T-800 bulldozer is 230 g/kW per hour. The volume of the fuel tank is 2050 l.

About the history of the T-800

This model, launched into production at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant in 1983, was included in the Guinness Book of Records in 1990 as the most productive bulldozer in the world. And even at the end of the 2010s, the T-800 is still included in the “top list of heavyweights”, taking fourth place in the list of the largest and most productive bulldozers in the world. Second only to Caterpillar and Komatsu, in Europe the T-800 remains unsurpassed in power.

Meanwhile, the last tractor of this model was released in 1999. In total, only nine units were produced - all by special order and to perform specific special tasks.

In particular, the new bulldozer-bogatyr (another one) received one of its first “baptisms of fire” at the construction site of the South Ural Nuclear Power Plant. The resource of the American super bulldozer "Intern" working at this site was not enough to clear one of the particularly difficult rocky areas. At the direction of the regional leadership, ChTZ director Nikolai Lozhchenko sent the T-800 there.

Eyewitnesses remember this as a truly epic spectacle: the T-800 rested on the rocks with the tooth of a ripper and rammed them where no other heavy equipment could do anything. Huge pieces of rock scattered to the sides with noise and bright sheaves of sparks. The Ural giant did not need any more advertising. At all sites of the grandiose construction they began to insistently demand it to help them.

The T-800 demonstrated no less impressive results during the reconstruction of the famous Magnitogorsk. He completed the two-week production requirement for the Japanese Komatsu in just one shift.

The next customer for the heavy-duty bulldozer was a diamond mine near the city of Mirny (Yakutia). During blasting operations at the quarry, microcracks appeared on the precious stones, significantly reducing their value. The use of the T-800 made it possible to do without blasting operations. In order to deliver the world's largest bulldozer to the field, the world's largest aircraft, the An-225 Mriya, was required.

The T-800 had good prospects for use in the national economy: in the construction of large reclamation facilities, railways and roads. But they are a thing of the past along with the Soviet Union. The already mentioned South Ural Nuclear Power Plant was one of two dozen (plus eight more in the countries of the “socialist camp”) nuclear power plants, the construction of which was abandoned in the late 80s / early 90s.

Enormous amounts of money were invested in these super-projects, and everything went to waste. The last T-800 bulldozer was manufactured for foreign customers in 1999. Today, the resumption of production of this “super-heavyweight” among bulldozers is hardly possible, since the tractor plant itself in its former form no longer exists in Chelyabinsk.

The Hollywood “namesake” of the super bulldozer is a super robot performed by Arnold.

It’s funny that the same “factory index” was assigned to a fictional cybernetic organism from the film “Terminator” filmed the following year, 1984. The biorobot “T-800” performed by Arnold Schwarzenegger became the “finest hour” in the cinema of this famous athlete. The film itself became extremely popular all over the world, spawning many sequels and imitations. And its main character, the T-800 robot, is one of the most recognizable characters in the history of cinema.

Engine

The power plant is produced in Yekaterinburg, at the Turbomotor Plant. An interesting point is that a similar engine is installed on BelAZ trucks. The 6DM-21T installation is characterized as a four-stroke unit with a power of 603 kW, equipped with liquid cooling. Also here, gas turbine supercharging with a preliminary decrease in the temperature of the supplied air has found its application. Its volume is 43.65 liters. Fuel injection is direct. The power plant contains six cylinders with a diameter of 210 mm. The lubrication system of the unit is forced with a dry sump. Engine speed – 1500 rpm. The maximum forward speed is 10.6 km/h, reverse – 14 km/h.

Purpose

The T-800 tractor is a full-size bulldozer with increased load capacity. The equipment is adapted for earthmoving activities, and is also widely used in the mining industry, land reclamation and road construction activities. In addition, the capabilities of this powerful model are appreciated in operations involving the processing of rocky and frozen soil. So, in this case, the machine can be used for mining in different climatic zones. The model is perfectly adapted to low temperatures, and this allows it to operate uninterruptedly in the northern regions of Russia. The appearance of this tractor is associated with the increased needs of the Soviet Union in agriculture. To ensure the rapid development of one of the main and strategically important industries for the USSR, a super-heavy class tractor was needed that would be capable of functioning in mining and construction, transporting heavy concrete objects, processing large volumes of areas at a time, etc.

Operator's cabin

The operator's cabin is thought out quite well and deserves special praise. It is protected from noise, climatic conditions and vibration. In addition, all glass is made of double glass. There is enough space in the cabin - 3 m3, two people can sit here at once (two chairs are installed). Shock absorbers are located between the chassis and the cabin, which reduces the level of vibration in the cabin. To avoid emergency or dangerous situations, a protective structure is provided, which is installed on the support posts during operation.

Reviews of T-800 bulldozers

On the Internet it is difficult to find reviews from machine operators who actually worked behind the levers of the Chelyabinsk heavy-duty bulldozer. there is only evidence of the type “I saw it in a neighboring quarry” and “the men told me about it.”

These reviews boil down to the fact that the tractor is truly gigantic, and it does not match the power and performance. Photos do not convey the real impression of its size. A person of average height enters the bulldozer cabin completely freely, without even bending.

But there is no evidence of the reliability and durability of the T-800. On the contrary, they say that a new tractor, having not even worked for a year, begins to “leak” oil all over the perimeter, “mope” and break down in all places. And, since the repairs required are very complex and expensive, the T-800 bulldozers gradually turned into frozen “monuments”, never having exhausted even half of their working life. This fate apparently befell each of the nine T-800s produced.

Since there are no reliable reviews about the T-800 brand bulldozers that continue to work. Well, the exhibition model still stands proudly on the site of the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant. And sometimes it starts up to drive a short distance to film the next TV program (both Russian and foreign TV journalists come from time to time).

The latest release of information about this model in the media dates back to events more than ten years ago. In 2006, certain “foreign customers” (namely, South Africa and India) allegedly showed interest in the T-800 and expressed their intention to order several of these super-heavy vehicles at once. However, things did not go further than these publications, written in an enthusiastically laudatory style.

Electrics

For proper functioning of electrical equipment, four batteries are provided. The mains voltage is 17 V, and the generator is installed with a power of 3.5 kW and is equipped with automatic control of operation both when the engine is on and when it is off. When purchasing a used T-800, you need to monitor the serviceability of these elements.

Scope of application of the extra-heavy bulldozer "T-800"

“T-800”, also known as “T-75.01”, is characterized by a nominal traction force of 75 tons (and therefore belongs to the 75th traction class!), and a maximum of 140 tons. Such power is applicable for performing particularly energy-intensive work of significant volume. Wherever high performance and the ability to quickly solve serious problems are important.

This includes stripping work in the mining industry, excavation work on the construction of roads and road junctions, reclamation canals, oil and gas pipelines, and particularly large industrial facilities. The T-800 is also suitable for active use in the development of rocky and frozen soils (during open-pit mining), in a wide variety of climatic conditions, including extreme ones.

The functionality of the super-heavy vehicle is intended to be expanded by two types of tracks used on it: six-ton ​​special tracks for rocks and eight-ton tracks for soil. This allows you to reduce the pressure on the ground to 0.0914 MPa (0.932 kgf/sq.cm).
