Ford Transit Custom chassis

About the history of the model

It was decided to separate the mid-size van into a separate model as part of the One Ford Plan concept, according to which the Ford Transit model was divided into three independent lines: full-size Transit vans; mid-size cargo vans Transit Custom and passenger version Tourneo Custom; as well as light delivery and passenger vehicles Transit Connect.

The model was launched specifically on the European market in the hope of grabbing a piece of the pie that previously belonged undividedly to almost similar Mercedes-Benz Vito and Volkswagen Transporter cars. The cargo version of this model was first introduced in the UK in 2012. And the debut of the passenger version of the Tourneo Custom took place at the Geneva Motor Show in the same year.
