TOP 5 modifications of medium-duty trucks Iveco EuroCargo (Iveco Eurocargo)

Iveco EuroCargo is the most popular series of cars of the Italian brand Iveco SpA, numbering about 300 basic modifications. It includes medium-tonnage trucks with a gross weight of 7-18 tons. In the line it is located between the heavy Iveco Stralis and the small Iveco Daily. At the same time, there are many versions of the car, which are conventionally divided into heavy and light subgroups. The truck is used to perform a variety of tasks.

The Iveco Evrocargo premiered in 1991, when the model replaced the Iveco TurboZeta. The basis was the modular design of a medium-duty truck. The car was supposed to be assembled to meet specific customer requirements. Since the beginning of production, the number of modifications of Iveco Eurocargo has been significant.

In 1992, the model received the “Truck of the Year” award.

About the history of the model

The Iveco EuroCargo model was introduced into the company's production program in 1991, instead of the obsolete Iveco TurboZeta model. The main feature that distinguished it from most mid-ton trucks of that time and ensured the further success of the model was its modular design, which made it possible to assemble, like a “constructor set,” a certain modification, precisely adapting to the specific needs of the consumer. Thanks to this, soon the number of proposed basic modifications exceeded all imaginable sizes and amounted to several hundred.

In 1992, the model was recognized as “Truck of the Year” in Europe, and subsequently two more times new generations of EuroCargo received this prestigious title. In the second generation of Iveco EuroCargo, launched into production in 2000, the transition to Tector series power units began - a new development by engineers of the European Engine Alliance, a joint venture of Iveco, New Holland and Cummins.

The third generation, 2003, received a brighter, more memorable and individual appearance. The main innovation was the air intakes on the sides of the cabin, which together with the radiator grille formed a kind of “smile”. Since 2006, SCR diesel engines that meet Euro-4 and Euro-5 standards have been installed on vehicles of the EuroCargo family. In 2008, Iveco Eurocargo trucks were again restyled, giving the cabin, in accordance with auto fashion trends, a more “aggressive” appearance.

The changes that took place in 2015 were also significant. The cabin design retained its corporate features: the cabin once again received a “smile” formed by the radiator grille and air intakes, which provided additional attention to the brand logo. The bumper has practical additional steps that make it easy to get to the windshield. In the headlights of the new model, again, in accordance with current automotive fashion, LED strips were installed. The cabin air vents have been optimized for better driving dynamics. The interior has changed slightly. But the new Hi-SCR engines ensure compliance with Euro-6 requirements.

Design and dimensions of Iveco EuroCargo

This is a new generation in the auto truck industry. To make the logo more visible, the manufacturer has improved the shape of the air deflectors. Because the front end design is distinct and distinct from other vehicles, the shape of the air vents has a significant influence on engineering design. The front glass of the Iveco EuroCargo is equipped with a UV filter. This helps protect the driver from unwanted rays and protects him from the sun. The new bumper design will make it easier to wash the car, which creates conditions for cleaning.

The new Amp is mainly designed to give a stylish look, but it also comes with an emergency braking system. The headlight has LED running lights. This is included if desired. Install xenon headlights. The company's logo and badge are displayed on the door. The possibilities fully reflect the design. Based on the study of aerodynamics, all parts of the car were developed. For example, the cleanliness of a door handle is guaranteed by the fact that it is constantly exposed to an air flow from the deflector.

The truck model is the best for urban use. Dimensions allow it to perform transportation functions in the best possible way. The cabin width is 2.1 meters, with an axle diameter rotation of 52 degrees.

Execution options

Today Iveco EuroCargo is the most popular model of the Iveco brand. Since 1991, a total of more than 500 thousand of these trucks have been produced.

The total weight of the vehicles in the series ranges from 7 to 18 tons (there are 10 options for the total weight). All models can be roughly divided into light and heavy subgroups. More powerful engines are also installed on heavier modifications:

  • For trucks with a gross weight of 6 to 10 tons - engines with power from 130 to 210 hp;
  • With a total vehicle weight of 11 to 18 tons - engines with power from 210 to 320 hp;

There are a total of eight powertrain options for Iveco Eurocargo.

Iveco EuroCargo engines

EuroCargo trucks are equipped with both four- and six-cylinder diesel engines. The line of 4-cylinder engines includes power units with a displacement of 3.9 liters and a power of 130, 150 or 170 horsepower. The 6-cylinder engines have a displacement of 5.88 liters and power of 180, 210, 240, 280 and 320 horsepower.

All of these engines, the Tector series, are equipped with a Common Rail electronic injection system and a turbocharger with a wastegate; Complies with EEV (“Advanced Environmental Vehicle”) requirements. SCR – “selective catalytic nitrogen reduction technology”, using the AdBlue additive, helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 5%.

Engines of the Tector family are lightweight, do not require frequent maintenance and guarantee reliable operation. Unlike the EGR exhaust gas recirculation system, the SCR system does not recirculate hot exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber. The performance characteristics of Tector engines are the best in this class in terms of the following indicators:

  • the best ratio between torque and engine displacement;
  • High adaptability – maximum torque is achieved already at a minimum speed (from 1200 rpm) and remains constant over a wide operating range. This guarantees smooth running, infrequent gear changes and high operating efficiency;
  • low operating costs: oil change interval is 80 thousand km for the engine and 300 thousand km for the transmission;
  • Quiet operation, which is important for a city delivery vehicle.

As standard, Iveco EuroCargo trucks are equipped with fuel tanks with a capacity of 115 liters; as an additional option - a two-hundred-liter tank.

The Iveco EuroCargo is based on a chassis made of durable high-alloy steel, with a completely flat plane without protrusions, which allows the installation of a variety of bodies with a length from 4,135 to 10,550 meters.

Suspensions for EuroСargo can be with parabolic or multi-leaf springs at the front and rear, and with pneumatic rear suspension. Alternatively, a fully electronically controlled air suspension system ECAS (Electronically Controlled Air Suspension) is possible, which can manually adjust the loading height of the frame electronically.

Iveco EuroCargo trucks are equipped with ventilated disc brakes on all wheels. The brake drive is hydraulic, with a vacuum booster. For safety reasons, an engine brake is also installed. Heavy versions can be equipped with air brakes.

Cabin "Iveco EuroCargo"

Cabins for Iveco EuroCargo vehicles are made of ultra-flexible galvanized steel, resistant to impact, wear and corrosion. EuroCargo comes with three types of cabins:

Reviews from owners and drivers of “Iveco EuroCargo”

On the Internet you can find many reviews from owners of Iveco EuroCargo trucks. Most often these are used, but “fresh” cars purchased in European countries. Before purchasing, the deciding factor in choosing EuroCargo for most owners was the cost of the car (“classmates” from other European manufacturers, in particular, Man, Daf, are more expensive).

Everyone notes that the quality of comfort for working “on board” the car is very high. In particular, the Iveco EuroCargo cabin is equipped with the same single seats as in the Iveco Stralis long-haul tractor. Sound insulation is very good. The seating position is quite high. Excellent visibility is provided by large, wide windshields and side windows, and 6 external mirrors (2 main and 2 wide-angle mirrors, one front mirror and one side mirror). There is also a small window in the right door to assist with parking.

Iveco EuroCargo is extremely simple to operate. The steering wheel turns very easily and smoothly, due to the presence of a hydraulic booster. The truck is very maneuverable in urban conditions, with a soft ride. The driver's seat is equipped with many settings and minimizes fatigue even on long trips. Good optics for headlights and fog lights.

Some people, out of ignorance and carelessness, bought cars equipped for southern climates. With the onset of winter, such owners were surprised and saddened to discover that the engine would not start in cold weather, and the cabin was extremely cold.

Of course, for our climate, you need to take a “EuroCargo” of the appropriate modification: with a heating element in the coarse fuel filter, with air heating in the intake air manifold and glow plugs. There will be no problems starting the engine in cold weather. And in this case, the car’s own standard stove works perfectly, without the need to install “autonomy”. In winter, the car will always be warm.

The cost of maintaining a car is low. Fixed costs include diesel and urea. Real diesel fuel consumption in a mixed schedule is about 16-18 liters per 100 km. The cost of a canister of urea (20 liters) is approximately 600-800 rubles, and it is enough for 3-4 months of operation.

Since the ecology class is fifth, there are no problems when obtaining passes to the central part of Moscow. And this class of ecology will be freely exploited in the capital for a long time. A digital tachograph is usually installed in the cabin.

Additionally, many cars are equipped with a walkie-talkie and GPS navigation with a fuel level sensor. “The walkie-talkie allows you to communicate with drivers of other cars in the city and on the highway. GPS navigation is generally a unique thing. Using this system, you can see the condition of your car at any time of the day or night. To do this, you just need access to the Internet, but nowadays this is not a problem either from a phone or from a computer. And the fuel level sensor allows you to constantly monitor the fuel level, refueling locations, the volume of fuel filled, and possible drains,” says one of the Russian owners of Iveco EuroCargo.

Another talks about his indescribable feelings when he switched from a ZIL Bychka, on which he worked for many years, to an Iveco EuroCargo, imported on order from Germany. Of course, this is not the outdated “Bull” - a completely different culture of both work and exploitation. The fact that the permitted maximum weight of a car is up to 12 tons is very convenient, since it does not require additional registration of a pass to work in Moscow, and also does not fall under the notorious “Platon” system.

On long journeys, on the highway, the Iveco EuroCargo truck behaves confidently and playfully. Driving, picking up speed and the speed itself resembles a passenger car, with a difference in dimensions, of course. At 2000 rpm, the “cruising” speed of about 100 km/h is maintained, both in empty and loaded states.

The disadvantages include low ground clearance; small cross-section of wires (they rub against the cambric); pretty cheap plastic on the dashboard; short, in the opinion of some owners, transmissions. It is not recommended to overload the car, according to the old domestic tradition - you must adhere to the standard values. Almost all the necessary parts need to be ordered and wait a long time. You need to apply for a driver card for a digital tachograph. In general, the actual operating experience of the Iveco EuroCargo confirms its reputation as one of the best medium-duty trucks in the world and an extremely versatile vehicle capable of successfully solving any, even special and very specific tasks.

Our answer

Now let's move on to the add-on. As you already understand, the freezer was assembled and installed by our old friend, . The Ryazan team, in their typical manner, once again surprised... this time pleasantly.

Even with a quick inspection, it is noticeable that this time the customer decided not to save money. The van is attached to the frame via six bolts on each side, and the first ones are not clamped rigidly, but through a damper spring. Smooth sides, neat joints. No sharp corners or clunky twisted screws. A standard retractable staircase leads inside (the height of the first step is 410 mm), after climbing it... and there, too, without comment, there is a corrugated stainless steel floor, lighting. The doors close tightly and, pleasantly, quite easily.

Refrigeration unit "Rime Engineering" LLC R2400MH made in Russia. It is designed for a voltage of 24 V, which is generally natural, and can maintain temperatures down to –18°C. The only thing that is not very pleasing is the useful volume inside the van occupied by the condenser-evaporation unit, but this is inevitable. As a result, in the block area the height of the van decreases from 2129 mm to 1860 mm, which is generally uncritical even for full-height movements.

But there is also a “puncture” - rigidly fixed underrun protection side bars. On the right side they block access to the receivers and the fuel tank, but this is not very critical there. But on the left it’s a little worse - here access to the battery, the ground switch and the spare wheel lowering mechanism is limited; the latter, by the way, is covered with a neat casing. And if you may never use the “spare” in your life, then you will turn off the “mass” every day after a shift, which means you will certainly touch a dirty beam. Annoying...

Cost of an Iveco EuroCargo car

The price for a new Iveco EuroCargo truck from an official dealer in Russia starts at 4 million rubles. Since this model is very common in our country, it is abundantly represented on the secondary car market in most regions. These are mainly vans of various sizes, refrigerators, cranes on the Iveco EuroCargo chassis. The price for cars produced in the 90s is in the range of 250-700 thousand rubles. For Iveco EuroCargo from the 2000s they are asking from 900 thousand to 1.7 million rubles; 2010s - from 1.5 to 3 million rubles, depending on the technical condition and equipment of each specific car.

Price

The truck has a low price compared to other vehicles with similar characteristics. They are convenient and useful in business and entrepreneurship, so they are in great demand. The price of the new Iveco EuroCargo, with basic characteristics, starts from 1,000,000 rubles. The price of a car can rise due to built-in modifications and expanded equipment. It can include both driver comfort and engine power with load capacity.

You can also buy a used one, as it is much cheaper. Iveco 2002-2004 will cost 10-12 thousand dollars.
