Disc and rim 5 (Fig. 129) are made by stamping and welded together into a non-separable structure. The disk is attached to studs 2 (see Fig. 117) of the wheel hub with nuts having a spherical surface; wheel nuts on the left side with left-hand threads, on the right side with right-hand threads.

The tire is held on the rim by two removable bead rings 2 and 4 (see Fig. 129) and a grinding ring 1.

The wheels, together with the tires, undergo balancing, as a result of which weights are installed on them, held by a leaf spring. In the case of disassembling and subsequent reassembly of the wheel, the tire, balancing weights and other parts must be installed in the same places that they occupied before disassembly, according to the marks made before disassembly.

The wheel hub bearings are adjusted using nut 22 (see Fig. 117). To determine the need for adjustment, lift the wheel with a jack, remove the axle shaft, and rock the wheel with your hands. If there is a gap in the bearings or the wheel rotates tightly, and the brakes are adjusted correctly, then it is necessary to adjust the tightness of the bearings. When adjusting, the lock nut is unscrewed, the lock washer is removed, the nut is tightened until the wheel rotates tightly; after a push by hand, the wheel should stop immediately. Next, loosen the nut 1/8. ..1/6 turn, install the lock washer and locknut. The correct tightening of the bearings is checked by the free rotation of the wheel without axial movement.

The spare wheel on the KamAZ-4310 vehicle is installed behind the cab in a special holder that has a lifting and lowering mechanism with a hydraulic drive. On the Ural-4320, the spare wheel holders are mounted on the right side member of the frame behind the cabin. Raising and lowering the spare tire of this vehicle is provided by a hydraulic lift included in the hydraulic power steering system. On a ZIL-131 car, the spare wheel is installed in a folding bracket located behind the cab on the right side member of the frame and has a device for mechanically lifting and lowering the wheel.

A pneumatic tire consists of a tire 3 (see Fig. 129), a tube 8 with a rim valve 7.

The tire holds the tube on the rim, protects it from damage, and ensures traction between the wheels and the road. The tire consists of a frame 3 (Fig. 130), two beads 5 with metal rings 5, a cushion layer 2, a tread 1 and two sidewalls 4.

The chamber is a closed elastic ring pipe filled with compressed air. To allow air in, valve 8 is attached to the chamber using a nut with a washer and a clamping plate, to which the hose of the tire air pressure regulation system is attached.

The rim tape protects the tube from abrasion on the rim and from getting caught by the tire beads. The tape is located between the camera and the rim.

The KamAZ-4320 vehicle is equipped with wide-profile tires measuring 1220 x 400 - 533. The first number in this size indicates the outer diameter, the second - the profile width, the third - the inner diameter, all values ​​in mm. The air pressure in the tires is regulated within 70...350 kPa.

The Ural-4320 vehicle is equipped with tires of size 370-508. In the designation of this tire, the first number indicates the profile width, and the second its internal diameter in mm. Normal air pressure in tires should be 250... 320 kPa; a short-term decrease in pressure in these tires can be up to 50 kPa.

The ZIL-131 car is equipped with tires of size 12.00-20. Here, the first number indicates the profile width, the second the internal diameter in inches (one inch equals 25.4 mm). Normal air pressure should be 300 kPa, it can be reduced depending on road conditions to 50 kPa. When driving on paved roads and with a transported load of up to 5 tons, the tire pressure should be 420 kPa.

Each tire has its own number, manufacturer's index and date of manufacture. This data is entered into the vehicle’s technical passport, and the date of installation of the tires on the vehicle is also indicated there.

Tire regulations require that tires be maintained at normal pressure. With insufficient pressure, the tire carcass quickly collapses; with excess pressure, the supporting surface of the tread decreases, the tire does not absorb shocks well, and the vehicle's maneuverability decreases. Tire pressure should be set in accordance with road conditions, and reduced to the minimum permissible value only for a short time in order to overcome difficult sections of the road.
