The fourth generation of GAZ trucks began with model 3307, production of which began in 1989. Based on this car, many different modifications were produced, and the GAZ 3309 truck became especially popular, mainly differing from the basic GAZ 3309 model in its diesel engine. Externally, brands 3307 and 3309 were practically impossible to distinguish.

The Dobrynya vehicle is designed to transport various cargo weighing up to 4 tons. The model turned out to be so successful that it is still in production. But the external design of the truck has already become somewhat boring, and the Nizhny Novgorod production company decided to give the vehicle a new shape by developing a new cabin with a sleeping bag for the 3309. The new modification is called “Dobrynya”.

Suspension and chassis

The frame of the GAZ-ZZO7 truck is stamped, riveted, spar type, weighing 281 kg. The suspension is dependent: the front is on longitudinal semi-elliptic springs with shock absorbers, and the rear is also on longitudinal semi-elliptic springs + with additional springs. The edges of the main sheets of all springs are placed in rubber cushions of the support brackets. Shock absorbers installed on the front axle of the truck are hydraulic, telescopic, double-acting. The front axle, including brakes and hubs, weighs 141 kg.

The wheels used are disc wheels, with a rim 152B-508 (6.0B 20), with a split bead ring. Fastening is on six studs. Tires - pneumatic, radial, size 8.25 R20 (240R508), model U-2 (K-84), or K-55A. The standard pressure in the tires of the front wheels should be 4.5 kgm/cm2; in rear wheel tires – 6.3 kgf/cm2. Rear axle – with double tire; total number of wheels 6 + 1 spare wheel.

Modification of GAZ 3309

The tuned version of the GAZ 3309 “Dobrynya” is created on the basis of an extended chassis - on this model the wheelbase is increased by 800 mm.

Cabin

The cabin of the truck, created by , has its own unique shape. It differs from cabin 3309:

This material not only allows you to give the car a freer shape, but also carries a significant functional load: its wear resistance has increased (plastic does not corrode).

Vans with a length of 5.2 meters and a volume of up to 26 cubic meters can be installed on vehicles. Depending on the type of goods transported, manufactured goods and insulated vans can be installed.

A long time ago, the GAZ-3309, nicknamed “Lawn,” has been driving along Russian roads. During this time, many functional units of the car changed, but the appearance of the “Lawn” remained virtually unchanged. Now medium-tonnage GAZ trucks are used by many enterprises and farms in Russia, and the demand for them remains consistently high.

The cabin doors of the restyled version of next have not changed, but a voluminous plastic bumper is installed in front, and there are fog lights in the bumper. Durable fiberglass was used as materials for the manufacture of the cabin - due to this, the total weight of the truck was reduced, and the plastic is not susceptible to corrosion.

A positive aspect is that the hood now tilts forward. On the standard 3309, it often opened while driving, restricting the driver's visibility.

This is excluded in the lawn next cabin - under the influence of the air flow during movement, the hood is only pressed more tightly to its seat.

Lawns-3307, 3309, lorries, and “shishigi” received the status of legendary domestic trucks. Old cars, if maintained in proper condition, can serve their owners well.

Characteristics of GAZ 3309 “Dobrynya”

The GAZ 3309 “Dobrynya” is equipped with a diesel engine from the Minsk Motor Plant D-245, the diesel engine is equipped with a turbine.

Engine power 125 hp. s., working volume 4.75 liters. The internal combustion engine complies with the Euro-4 environmental class, 4 cylinders are located in one row. Other engine characteristics:

Due to the sleeping compartment installed on the cab, the truck frame is extended by 0.8 m. The insulated van is lined with galvanized steel sheets inside, and there is a lamp in the body. The cabin has two seats - passenger and driver. There is a hatch on the roof of the cabin. There is a storage niche at the top front of the cabin.

The driver's seat is equipped with a lever suspension, which dampens vibrations when driving on uneven roads.

The 3309 next has an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and a fuel tank capacity of 170 liters. The machine is equipped with a Webasto pre-heater.

Both models are equipped with 12 liter cubes made of stainless austenitic steel 12Х18Н10Т (GOST 5632-72) 2 mm thick. The cubes are welded using argon welding and, according to dealers, are able to withstand pressure up to 25 atmospheres. Heating is provided on gas or electric stoves.

Induction heating cannot be used.

The cubes are equipped with a bimetallic thermometer with an accuracy class of 2.5 and a scale in 2-degree increments. It will be possible to see a hot or cold tank, but you will still have to use an alcohol meter to navigate during fractional distillation.

There is no safety valve, which for safety reasons would be quite useful, given the thin tubes of the steam pipes.

“Standard” is equipped with a cube with a very narrow neck - 35 mm, and “Progress” is simply narrow - 75 mm. Diameter 22 cm, height – 50 cm.

It is clear that washing such cubes is very problematic.

The manufacturer claims that a man's hand can easily fit into the cube. For example: the internal diameter of the neck of a three-liter jar is 75 mm. Anyone who tried to get a cucumber out of it will understand everything without further explanation.

The maximum permissible heating power of a cube with mash without violent and uncontrollable foaming is no more than 1.5-1.6 kW, which is quite achievable on a conventional gas stove. There is no power reserve!

“Dobrynya” Developing the theme of “sleeping bags”

There are many light and medium-duty vehicles operating on long-distance Russian roads, the basic equipment of which does not include a sleeping compartment. This is where the eternal Russian question “What to do?” arises. Stay overnight in roadside hotels? It’s not always possible and besides, it’s expensive. Another option is to buy a car with an equipped sleeping area.

The Nizhny Novgorod production association “Chaika-Service” responded to market trends in time and began producing “sleeping bags” for cars of the GAZ-3307/3309 and GAZelle family. Later, Valdai trucks that appeared on the market began to be equipped with sleeping cabins. By the way, “lawns” equipped with sleeping compartments still compete well with successful “upstarts” - “Valdai” with the same option. But today I would like to talk about “sleeping bags” for the “lawn” and how the Chaika-Service production association expanded this topic.

What kind of “sleeping bag” is there on the “lawn”?

The metal frame of the sleeping compartment is made of rectangular pipes, covered with steel sheet. The sleeping compartment is decorated from the inside with decorative fiberboard and provides maximum comfort to drivers and forwarders. To improve the heat and sound insulation of the cabin, foam is used. The “sleeping bag” has two shelves that fold down to the back wall. Their length (2150 mm) allows even a heavy-set, tall person to lie down comfortably. Under the lower shelf, as in a passenger carriage, there is a spacious storage compartment.

The technology for painting the panels of the sleeping compartment differs from the technology for painting conventional car body hardware. It is closer to the technology of painting metal products for industrial use. The walls of the box are made of clad metal with heat treatment of the outer layer and covered with thermal powder paint. This provides the “sleeping bag” with high corrosion resistance. The “hat” superstructure is made of fiberglass.

Time passes, and Chaika-Service is constantly improving the capabilities of the car. This spring our company presents the updated GAZ-3309. It was named "Dobrynya".

Chaika-Service software has developed a “lawn” for the new millennium. The “workhorse” began to look like a thoroughbred trotter: the appearance and new capabilities of the “lawn” were brought to the level of the best representatives of the truck class.

The new century dictates new requirements not only for technical characteristics, but also for appearance. Just because a car is designed for work doesn't mean it has to look ordinary. The car has become more “pumped up” and looks like its “big brothers” – long-distance trucks: high wheel arches, a “thoroughbred” radiator grille and original tail. The updated “lawn” is a high-flying bird.

About the manufacturer

Since its founding in 1932, the company has produced cars, buses, and trucks. The first cars were produced in collaboration with Ford, and their own cars were also introduced.

During the Great Patriotic War, the Gorky plant worked for defense needs. GAZ produced tanks, armored vehicles, cars and off-road trucks.

In the post-war years, the plant produced civilian cars "Pobeda", "Volga", "Chaika". The production of the third generation of trawls was also started.

Its undeniable advantage in the form of the lowest price among representatives of the medium-duty class is combined with such qualities as simplicity and reliability, and in addition, this truck, despite having only rear-wheel drive, has quite good cross-country ability, which is an important factor, considering the general condition of roads in our country.

This is due to the fact that the location of the sleeping compartment behind the cabin leads to a reduction in the installation length of the frame. The vehicle's carrying capacity suffers slightly. If we talk about the operational and technical parameters of this truck, they differ only minimally from the characteristics of the base model (without a sleeping bag) and are at a very high level.

On GAZ 3309 vans, an in-cabin sleeping bag is installed through conversion, since this operation is an intervention in the design of the vehicle. The sleeping compartment itself is a molded structure made of impact-resistant material, equipped with a thermal insulation layer, additional lighting and two shelves for relaxation, under which there is storage space. This design allows for two people to be seated at the same time. The advantage of such a sleeping bag is a high degree of comfort, but the disadvantage is the equally high price.
