The power unit is equipped with a three-stage air cleaner. The engine can be equipped with one of two turbochargers of the TKR-7 or S2A “Schwitzer” K27 brand, which provides air injection into the cylinders. Starting is carried out by an electric starter using an aerosol device.

Preliminary pressure in the fuel line is created by booster pumps with an eccentric drive; at the stage of preparation for launch, a piston pump is used. The cooling system is a dual-circuit liquid type with a radiator installed in front of the power unit. The antifreeze circulation is ensured by a centrifugal pump; the thermal regime is maintained by two thermostats and a fan with a viscous coupling.

Transmission
The choice of driving mode is carried out using a synchronized manual gearbox with constant mesh gears.
The gearbox has 16 forward gears, distributed between 4 ranges. In reverse mode, there are eight gears, which are equally divided between two ranges.

The MTZ model 1523 tractor is equipped with a working and parking brake system. The actuators are installed on the drive gear shafts of the final drives.
The service brakes are divided into right and left and are operated by two pedals using a hydrostatic drive.
The parking system is activated by a fixed lever using independent mechanical rods. There is a pneumatic drive for the brakes of the trailer or towed equipment, the compressor of which is also used to inflate tires.
The steering of the Belarus tractor is hydrostatic, which can significantly reduce the effort when performing maneuvers.

The transmission of the MTZ-1523 tractor is mechanical and includes the following elements:
- The clutch is a dry double-disc clutch, permanently closed. The control is a pedal, the drive is hydrostatic.
- Rear axle, the design consists of a main gear, a differential with a locking function, two final drives and final drives.

Design, types and applicability of FDA drive hydraulic valves
The hydraulic valves used in Belarus tractors are designed quite simply. They consist of a spool-type solenoid valve and a block in which a vertical channel is machined for the spool, as well as inlet and outlet channels. The spool can have two positions:
• Spool lowered - in this position, the spool closes the drain channel, but connects the inlet and outlet channels, so oil from the pump enters the fluid coupling; • Spool raised - in this position, the spool closes the inlet channel, but connects the outlet and drain channels, so the oil from the fluid coupling goes to the drain.
The solenoid valve is controlled using a button located on the remote control in the cab. To connect the valve winding to the electrical circuit, a connector (plug) is provided on the hydraulic distributor body. The hydraulic distributor is mounted on the gearbox cover using four bolts; for this purpose, four through holes are provided in its body.
Today, tractors Belarus-1221, 1532 and others use hydraulic valves of three types:
• Series RH06101-012 (manufactured by BADESHTNOST, Bulgaria); • Series 1РГЭ-6Т (manufactured in Gomel, Republic of Belarus); • MRE6-T574 series (manufactured by DUET Gidravlik LLC, Yaroslavl).
All hydraulic valves have an identical design and characteristics, that is, they are analogues of each other, and therefore can be used on Belarus-1221 and 1532 tractors without any restrictions.
Cabin of the MTZ-1523 tractor: overview of the workplace
The MTZ-1523 tractor differs from the previous model in improved ergonomics of the operator’s workplace. The single-seat cabin has a rigid spatial protective frame made of steel profile. The design is insulated and provides reliable protection from noise and vibration.
Maintaining a comfortable microclimate is carried out by a heater-type ventilation and heating system. Upon request, a refrigerant air conditioner can be installed.
The operator sits on a sprung blue seat, which has a wide range of height adjustments. The windshield and rear window are equipped with electric wipers and washers, which makes it possible to use the tractor during precipitation.
Large glass area and large rear-view mirrors provide good visibility. The cabin provides space for installing a standard car radio and audio system.
The operator controls the tractor using the following controls:

- Four of them are pedals: two control the working brake system, the rest control the fuel supply and clutch.
- Gear and range shift levers.
- Control units: PTO, hydraulic lifting system, differential lock and front axle connection.
- Handles for switching modes, operation of the power take-off shaft and hydraulic system distributor.
- Parking brake lever.
Monitoring of the status and operation of systems is carried out using indicators installed on the instrument cluster. Here are the pointers:
- gearbox oil pressure;
- fuel level;
- tension;
- pressure in the pneumatic system;
- coolant temperature;
- pressure in the engine lubrication system.
The instrument panel is also equipped with a block of warning lamps and an electric tachometer with a control panel. The operation of the heater fan, headlights, windshield wipers and signal lights of the road train is controlled from a switch panel mounted in the ceiling lining.
Layout
The design of the tractor does not differ from previous models.
- The diesel engine is located longitudinally in the front of the car.
- Behind it comes the gearbox and rear axle.
- The rear linkage, cab, and half-frame are attached to the transmission housings. The front axle rests on the latter.
- The engine is covered with a decorative hood with streamlined shapes.
Dimensions
MTZ-1523 fascinates at first glance with its appearance and size. The device looks especially impressive when paired wheels are installed on it.
But, despite its impressive dimensions, the tractor turned out to be maneuverable. The designers achieved this by reducing the wheelbase and minimizing the turning radius.
To compensate for the loss of controllability when attaching heavy implements, weights weighing just over a ton are provided.
Cabin
In this series, we tried to make the operator’s workplace comfortable for the operator.
- The cabin has a rigid steel frame that protects the operator when the machine rolls over.
- Cylindrical tinted windows add extra beauty to the cabin.
- The designers relied on the ventilation system to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the cabin. It operates in 2 modes: blowing and heating.
- By special order, it is possible to install an air conditioner that will cool the blown air.
The operator’s seat, according to established tradition, is located on sprung cushions and is equipped with adjustment mechanisms in 3 planes.
The windshield front and rear windows were equipped with wipers and washers, allowing the car to be operated during precipitation. The cabin also provides mounting sockets for installing an audio system.
Optional equipment
Thanks to the ability to aggregate the device with soil-cultivating and engineering tools, the tractor performs a wide range of agricultural, transport, and production operations. On MTZ-1523 you can install:
- plows, cultivators, harrows;
- semi-trailers;
- seeders;
- frontal, mounted mowers;
- combine harvesters;
- blade blade, loader;
- engineering, construction mechanisms.
Minsk Tractor Plant produces only plows of several modifications. The user purchases the rest of the equipment separately from third-party manufacturers.

Modifications of the MTZ-1523 tractor
The manufacturer is constantly working to improve the base model and offers several versions of the tractor. Currently, the consumer is offered five modifications:
- MTZ-1523V "Belarus" . The main difference from the base model is the presence of a reversible control post, which is used when performing work with the tractor moving in reverse for a long time. It is equipped with a gearbox with an increased number of gears to 24 – forward and 12 – reverse.
- MTZ-1523.3 "Belarus" . Equipped with a diesel engine model D-260.1S2 (environmental standard Stage II). Rated power – 150 l. With. with specific fuel consumption – 250 g/(kWh).
- MTZ-1523V.3 “Belarus” is a version of the tractor with a reversible control post and a D-260.1S2 power unit.

The Belarus-1523 tractor has been produced relatively recently and its main market is the Russian Federation. Workers and managers of agricultural enterprises operating this model highly appreciated its ergonomics.
