I drove two Iveco Trakker dump trucks - one made in Russia, the second in Spain. I tell you how they showed themselves in their careers

Iveco Trucker is a heavy-duty truck with increased load capacity and reinforced chassis design, designed for the transportation of bulk cargo and materials, asphalt concrete mixtures. The machines work both on a flat highway and in hard-to-reach and impassable areas. They are often used for logging, construction, quarrying and agricultural work.

The equipment is manufactured by the leading automotive corporation Iveco (Italy). The assembly of specialized machines is carried out at the joint Russian-Italian enterprise Iveco-AMT in the city of Miass, Chelyabinsk region.

Device and technical characteristics

The range of trucks replaced the popular Iveco Eurotruck family, which was produced from 1993 to 2004. Compared to their predecessors, modern trucks have 2-, 3-, 4-axle modifications with partial and all-wheel drive. Wheel formulas: 4x4, 6x4, 6x6, 8x4, 8x8.

Iveco trucks are available in 2 versions:

  • single chassis with a total weight of up to 41 tons;
  • tractor with semi-trailer with an operating weight of up to 150 tons.

Various superstructures are installed on a chassis with a frame that has a large margin of safety. Concrete mixer trucks, concrete pumps, truck cranes and grain trucks are widely used.

The Iveco Trakker dump truck is the most popular vehicle in the construction segment. It is designed with any type of fixed or tilting body in rectangular or bucket shape.

The models have design features:

  • installation of 1 or 2 output power take-offs;
  • shortened overhangs at the rear of special bodies;
  • availability of brackets for mounting subframe elements;
  • radiator protection;
  • vertical exhaust pipe;
  • double support-racks for adjusting the vertical load;
  • interface with a “smart” CAN system for configuration;
  • alloy wheels and increased payload.

The basic design of the machine includes 2 engines Cursor 8 and Cursor 13 with a volume of 8 and 13 l and a thrust of 360 and 500 l. With. respectively. The power plants have 6 in-line cylinders with a camshaft in the head of the cylindrical block; the valve mechanism drive is located at the rear.

To purify exhaust gases, the use of the SCR catalytic reduction system of nitrogen oxide is provided, which leads to an increase in the performance characteristics of engines, a reduction in operating costs and fuel savings. The engines are environmentally friendly and comply with the EEV standard - Euro 5 class.

The speed mode is regulated by 7 gearboxes:

  • automated 12-level EuroTronic, joystick switching;
  • mechanical with 9 and 16 ZF gears, switching by floor lever.

For greater comfort and optimization of directional stability, 3 types of suspensions are used:

  • semi-elliptical leaf spring;
  • parabolic spring;
  • electronically controlled pneumatic ECAS.

The cabin is manufactured in 3 versions:

  • Active Day - for daily work without a sleeping place and with a standard roof;
  • Active Time - with a sleeping bag and a low roof;
  • Active Time - without a sleeping bag and with a high roof.

The cabin is roomy, comfortable, upholstered in high-quality materials, has a highly efficient climate control system, improved sound insulation, an improved instrument panel, and many different compartments for storing personal items.

The electronic braking system includes:

  • ABS - anti-lock braking system;
  • EBL - electronic brake force limiter;
  • ASR - traction control system.

Reduced frequency of service brake application and reduced wear is achieved using the ITB turbocharged decompression engine brake and the CEB electric combination mechanism.

Saic-Iveco dump truck - a Chinese giant with a European character

At one of the exhibition presentations - bauma-CTT 2022 - the interest of visitors was attracted by a striking example of heavy dumping equipment - Saic-Iveco (Hongyan). We also could not ignore it and turned to the official representative of the Chinese concern in Russia, sales department manager Taras Dubrovin, with a request to tell us about the technical potential of the dump truck and its attractiveness for the Russian consumer.

— Now many companies give preference to Chinese-made DST, including the giants represented by the Saic - Iveco . What advantages does this unit have and in which industrial sector is it in demand?

— The machine is in greater demand in the road construction sector and in the mining niche. However, utility services are often also looking at it. Thanks to its spacious configuration with a volume of 19 m3, the operational capabilities of the Saic-Iveco (Hongyan) dump truck were appreciated not only at capital construction sites, but also at open and closed quarries. It remains operational in areas with temperatures ranging from – 40 to + 40 ° C and has a load capacity of 18.5 tons. As for the load parameters, the front axle can withstand up to 7.5 tons, and the rear bogie has 13 tons.

By the way, the body itself is heated and made of alloy steel grades Q235 and Q238. Moreover, the thickness of the rolled metal for the bottom is 8 mm, and for the sides - 6 mm. The basic version is not equipped with an awning, but the manufacturer is ready to include this element in an individual order.

However, this is far from the only request that clients address to the manufacturer. Extending the sides has also become a popular option. For the 6x4 model presented at the exhibition, increasing the size of the side with the help of special stripes is a rarity. As a rule, this privilege is a dump truck with an 8x4 wheelbase.

What makes this dump truck stand out among its competitors in terms of equipment?

— First of all, Hongyan (6x4) differs from its Chinese counterparts in its “filling”. The company equipped the dump truck with a European-level power plant - Cursor 9 in the 350E5 (Euro 5) modification, which produces 350 hp. With. at 2100 rpm. European technologies used in engine development allowed engineers to create a powerful and at the same time economical unit.

Compared to the WP12.375E50, the C9 390 has 38% more power and 18% more torque. Under the same operating conditions, fuel economy is higher and power and technology are more advanced.

With a curb weight of 14,800 kg and a gross weight threshold of 33,500 kg, the dump truck confidently moves along specified routes at a speed of 120 km/h, and by factory standards its potential reaches 130 km/h. At the same time, it shows quite decent savings: up to 3-6 liters of fuel per 100 km, which is supported by the opinion of more than one driver. For example, this exhibitor covered 8,000 km and on average its fuel consumption was within 30 liters per hundred square meters. Saic-Iveco easily covers impressive distances because it has a 560-liter fuel tank. Neither Chinese nor Russian opponents can boast of such a volume; Shacman’s fuel tank is even inferior to it - only 500 liters. By the way, the steel athlete is shod in tubeless tires 315/80R22.5.

Also under the hood of this model is a Fast Gear 12JSD160T gearbox with a gear ratio of 5.214 and a 430 mm single-disc diaphragm clutch. The manufacturer can offer the vehicle in another version - with the Fast Gear 16 gearbox. I note that the standard set of the dump truck includes not only urea heating and fuel supply systems from Wabco, but also electric injection, as well as an exhaust gas aftertreatment system and GLONASS.

— What potential have the manufacturers endowed with this dump truck in terms of ergonomics and comfort?

— The Hongyan dump truck received an all-metal double two-door cabin and a comfortable full-size bed with hidden niches for storing spare parts and other small items necessary on the road. This vehicle is an order of magnitude larger in width than its Chinese counterparts of the Shaanxi brand, and its parameters are 230x80 cm. Moreover, the cabin is equipped with an EBS safety system, thanks to which in the event of an emergency collision it is shifted half a meter back. For comfortable control of the dump truck, the driver is provided with a pneumatic seat locking system in the “up-down” and “forward-backward” modes, as well as a convenient location of indicators and control systems on the dashboard. The standard configuration of the dump truck includes not only cruise control, electric windows and air conditioning, but also a hatch for additional ventilation of the cabin space. The latest solution in the field of air conditioning is not found among Chinese analogues at all.

Modifications

The model range includes all possible modifications to perform various types of work. Available in a range of engines (270-480 hp) and chassis configurations with different wheel arrangements (4x2, 4x4, 6x4, 6x6, 8x4, 8x8 for chassis and 4x2 , 4×4, 6×4 and 6×6 for tractors). 3- and 4-axle models are offered in two versions: “light” (26-32 tons), which is designed for on-road transportation, and “heavy” (33-40 tons), which is designed for off-road use.

The Trakker driver can now feel as if he is in the Stralis cab, as Active Day (AD) and Active Time (AT) cabs are now available on the Trakker. This solution allowed us to combine style and comfort with the specific requirements for off-road construction vehicles.

The Active Day short cab is designed for daytime use, while the Active Time cab, with a regular or high roof, has one or two berths and is therefore designed for jobs that require overnight stays in the cab.

Compact cabs with a width of 2.28 m give the Trakker certain advantages on the construction site. Maneuvering in tight spaces is made easier, and the likelihood of the cabin corners hitting obstacles is minimized. To make boarding and alighting safe, non-slip steps are offset outward.

The Trakker's steel bumper is designed in three parts, reducing replacement costs in the event of a collision. The corners of the bumper are rounded and harmonize with the contours of the front of the cabin.

IVECO Trakker AD410T41 and IVECO-AMT 753910-10 dump trucks showed their advantages for Russia

Reinforced design, increased load capacity, highest performance and adaptability to difficult road and climatic conditions make IVECO large-capacity trucks indispensable for daily active use at construction, quarry and logging sites, as well as when performing repair or loading work in any region of Russia.

A quarry located in the village of Ilyinsky, Moscow region, was chosen as the site for the test drive, which took place on July 9. Installed on the IVECO-AMT 753910-10, the Cursor 13 power unit from FPT Industrial develops a peak power of 500 hp. With. and torque 2300 Nm. The engine is mated to a fully automatic Allison 4500 transmission. The steering wheel is height and tilt adjustable, and the dual-circuit braking system has ABS and ASR functions with an off-road mode.

The IVECO-AMT 753910-10 dump truck was manufactured in Miass, at the IVECO-AMT plant, which has been developing unique trucks for more than 25 years, taking into account Russian operating conditions, specific business tasks and the harsh climate in northern latitudes.

The IVECO Trakker AD410T41 dump truck, manufactured in Spain, with an 8x4 wheel arrangement and a load capacity of up to 30 tons, is rightfully considered a leader in its class in terms of strength and reliability. Operational reliability allows the machine to solve various problems in a sand quarry, construction site, coal mine and other adverse conditions.
