Roads are one of the two eternal problems of Russia - and today they remain a constant source of problems and inconvenience not only for ordinary citizens, but also for large construction and mining companies that are forced to invest enormous amounts of money in their construction and maintenance.
Often, the construction and repair of roads is not only expensive, but also completely unprofitable or impossible for some reason. What to do in such a situation? One solution to this problem is to use articulated dump trucks, which do not need roads in principle due to their unique design.

, the official dealer of Terex Corporation, offers Russian companies an updated family of articulated dump trucks that meet the most modern requirements and, more importantly, the realities of the Russian construction sector and the domestic mining industry.

Terex articulated dump trucks are produced in Scotland at the Motherwell plant, which currently produces mining and articulated dump trucks as well as scrapers. In total, the production range includes four models of articulated dump trucks - TA250, TA300, TA350, TA400, five models of mining rigid dump trucks - TR35, TR45, TR60, TR70, TR100 and the TS14G scraper.

The plant's territory is located on an area of 500 thousand m3, of which 28 thousand m3 are occupied by factory premises. In the factory premises, machines are assembled through the full cycle - from a sheet of metal to a finished sample. Only engines and gearboxes are supplied assembled from the plant's suppliers. Large elements such as the frame, cab, body, gearboxes and axles are manufactured at the factory. The finished machine undergoes a full cycle of checks and is tested for 4 hours, after which a decision is made on its readiness for shipment. The plant is completely open to customers, and any of them can visit the production premises and witness the manufacturing process of the ordered machines. A training and education center is located right on the premises of the plant. There are training courses for future service mechanics who will be involved in servicing this heavy equipment.

If in the 1980s the Motherwell plant could hardly lay claim to a technologically advanced enterprise, then after a merger with the American company Northwest Engineering, a major overhaul was carried out and the equipment was completely replaced. This moment became a turning point for the Terex Construction division: a course was set for continuous improvement of assembly technologies and the introduction of advanced production solutions. And the company keeps its promise: not long ago it introduced an updated family of articulated dump trucks TA300 and TA400 with a lifting capacity of 28 tons and 38 tons, respectively, which replaced the TA30 and TA40 models. Thus, Terex has completed updating its lineup.

When modernizing the range of Terex articulated dump trucks, the main emphasis was on improving the driving performance of the vehicles, their reliability, simplifying maintenance and improving working conditions for drivers.

Oil-cooled multi-disc brakes are now standard on all Terex articulated dump trucks, while most other manufacturers offer trucks with dry brakes as standard.

with disks. Together with the Jacobs engine brake, this solution allows you to increase the service life of the braking system, which in turn leads to longer service intervals and reduced maintenance costs. In addition, this system has improved overall braking performance. As an option, a hydraulic transmission retarder is offered, which is included in the basic package in the TA400 model.

Only proven power units are installed on Terex dump trucks. For example, the TA250/TA300 models are equipped with Cummins engines with a power of 272/287 kW and an Allison automatic transmission, and on the TA350/TA400 models the source of propulsion is a tandem of a Detroit Diesel/MTU turbodiesel with a power of 298/336 kW and a ZF automatic transmission. All these units are well known in Russia and have a reputation as reliable and repairable units with developed spare parts supply networks. Dump truck engines are distinguished by high power and a large reserve of torque, which allows the driver to feel confident in difficult road conditions, overcome steep slopes without problems, and makes it easier to control a loaded vehicle. For example, the TA350 and TA400 models are among the most powerful machines in their classes, and the TA250 and TA300 are the absolute leaders in power among machines with a lifting capacity of 25 tons and 28 tons, respectively. The updated dump trucks also have easier access to serviced units.

The chassis of the entire Terex line of articulated dump trucks has been designed specifically to withstand harsh off-road conditions. The suspension units are durable, provide excellent stability and full control when driving the machine. In addition, the TA300 model, for the first time in its class, received a fully independent front suspension, which contributes to the best ride smoothness, which in turn reduces driver fatigue and increases productivity. In addition, the chassis elements are subject to less shock loads and vibrations, which has a beneficial effect on their service life.

The all-welded bodies are made of Hardox 400 steel and have a dual-slope rear design for faster and more complete unloading. Although they are initially suitable for work in harsh conditions, the customer can order a reinforced body with hanging steel plates. For Russian conditions, body heating carried out by exhaust gases will also be relevant. The body tilting is carried out by hydraulic cylinders, ensuring minimal lifting and lowering time.

During the modernization, much attention was paid to increasing the level of cabin comfort. It is no secret that comfortable conditions contribute to more efficient driver work, increase his motivation and allow him to better concentrate on the task at hand. That's why all Terex articulated dump trucks now have a new cab with improved ergonomics, a comfortable seat and steering wheel, excellent visibility and reduced noise and vibration levels. The standard equipment of all machines also includes an improved air conditioning system, providing a comfortable microclimate regardless of the time of year and where the machine is used.

In recent years, several dozen Terex articulated dump trucks have been delivered to Russia, which were used at the most critical sites. In particular, TA30 dump trucks participated in the restoration of the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station. During their operation in Khakassia, high performance, moderate fuel consumption, and ease of maintenance were noted. Currently, machines of this brand are also involved in diamond mining in the Khabarovsk Territory and are working on the construction of Olympic facilities in Sochi. We can safely say that Terex dump trucks have come to the Russian market seriously and for a long time.

Terex Trucks TA400 dump trucks have proven themselves in the harsh conditions of Siberia

The Arpatsky coal mine, which is located in Eastern Siberia, is one of the most difficult places for operators and machines to work. The long winter, when temperatures drop to -45 degrees Celsius, puts any mining equipment to the extreme test.

Over eight years, four Terex Trucks TA400 articulated haulers logged approximately 48,000 hours of service at a remote coal mine in Russian Siberia, where they withstood extreme conditions and ultra-low temperatures.

Operating up to 22 hours a day, the TA400's 38 tonne capacity hauled coal and overburden when the ground was covered in snow for months at a time in winter. Thus, the TA400 proved its operational and repair suitability when drivers had to work on slippery surfaces, navigating steep and icy slopes in low temperatures.

Truck operators appreciate the TA400's ability to climb and descend coal mine slopes.

The TA400's modulating transmission repeater, combined with an efficient exhaust brake and fully enclosed oil-cooled multi-disc brakes, provides optimal control and increased safety on steep slopes.

Mines require powerful and reliable machines that can operate in extreme conditions. The TA400 transmission is perfectly matched to the engine and is designed to maintain traction and speed on the toughest jobsites for unrivaled productivity.

It is easy to use, reliable and provides a low total cost of ownership. Another advantage is that the machines are easy to maintain as the axle, gears and motor are easily accessible, so maintenance and repair work can be carried out simply, without the need for special diagnostic equipment.

Control points are located at ground level, and the fully tilting cab combined with the electronic raised hood ensures ease of service and maximum uptime.

The tri-axle TA400, Terex Trucks' largest articulated tipper with a capacity of 23.3 cubic metres. The TA400 is equipped with a highly efficient, fuel-efficient 12.7-litre Scania DC13 engine that produces 331 kW (444 hp) and a maximum torque of 2,255 Nm. Therefore, such an engine is designed to meet the most extreme operating conditions such as quarries, mines and large-scale construction projects.

The transmission is a fully automatic transmission with an Allison HD4560 planetary gear with a built-in retarder mounted directly to the engine and electronically controlled (6 forward speeds and one reverse). Planetary gearing provides smooth and efficient gear shifting to optimize fuel consumption and reduce operating costs.

The TA400 mining dump truck is equipped with three axles with permanent 6x6 all-wheel drive and a differential connection between each axle, which prevents transmission misalignment. Powerful axles have all-wheel drive shafts and a planetary gearbox. Each axle has automatic limited-slip differentials. The driven rear axle has a through-drive differential to transfer drive to the rear axle. This differential and the output transfer differential are locked simultaneously using a single switch selected by the operator.
