Design

Much depends on the availability of materials and technical skills. On the other hand, the rotating mechanism can become the most vulnerable point of the structure; its design requires a certain margin of safety to be provided at the fixation points. The working surface of the blade also requires reinforcement; it is important to monitor the weight of individual parts. It is desirable that the blade can be mounted and dismounted by one person.

To protect the surface being cleaned, a rubber strip should be used, the fastening of which should be detachable so that the rubber can be replaced as it wears out. Where the blade is attached to the vehicle, it is worth considering a possible sharp collision of the blade with an obstacle. Mounting points should not be located in front of important parts of the vehicle.

The UAZ Bukhanka vehicle was created to transport heavy loads with a total weight of 800 kg. Thus, this is the GAZ-69 chassis. However, during the design and assembly of the vehicle, it turned out that it was too short and could not carry such loads.

Therefore, the developers decided to slightly modernize the body, resulting in two modifications of the UAZ-452. One is a box body and the other is a flatbed.

The designers decided to strengthen the car frame with transverse stiffeners. They were placed in the upper part, which led to the name Buchanka. This project was approved in the 1950s, after which mass production of the car began.

The number of seats and their arrangement in the cabin varies depending on the modification of the car and its purpose. A stationary staircase and a side door with a handle lead inside. The rear opening has a double hinged door and a folding step.

The components of the car frame are two steel beams 3, representing the longitudinal blocks in the drawing below. They are all connected into a single structure by crossbars in the amount of five pieces. Using welding method 2, 10, 12, 13, the crossbars are welded to the frame.

Cross member 8 is secured to the frame with steel bolts. It is the second one from the beginning of the frame. Steel brackets are welded to the longitudinal spars that make up the frame. The mounting bolts for the second cross member are screwed into these brackets, holding it securely in the frame.

With the exception of two brackets, all others are welded to the frame. Brackets 16, of which there are only two, are used to fasten the fixed ends of the front springs. Rivets hold them securely to the frame.

The fifth, rearmost cross member is used to install a towing device. This is a closed mechanism that works on both sides. The towing hook is designed for transporting a car trailer as part of a road train from behind. The device has an elastic rubber component 4.

This part makes jerks and impacts much softer when the road train starts from a standstill, or when driving over rough terrain and unpaved roads.

Towing hook UAZ 469:

1 – cap, 2 – support nut, 3 – body, 4 – elastic element, 5 – bracket, 6 – tow hook, 7 – pawl, 8 – latch, 9 – chain, 10 – bolt with nut, 11 – grease nipple , 12 – washers, 13 – cotter pin.

The hook is designed so that it can freely make any rotational movements around its own axis. However, this does not give him the opportunity to obtain noticeable axial movements of the entire body.

To ensure this, the device must be adjusted correctly. The design provides for an adjusting support nut 2 of the hook rod. The latch of the device must close the hook mouth with the required density and be effectively locked with a special pawl 7.

To lubricate the friction surfaces of the neck of the hook rod and the holes in the bracket 5, it is necessary to introduce lubricant with a syringe through the grease nipple 11. The friction surfaces of the support nut 2 and the holes in the body 3 are lubricated with lubricant, which is placed under the cap 1 during the assembly of the towing device.

During maintenance of the towing device, it must be periodically cleaned of dust, dirt, and rust. You should also regularly check its condition and the reliability of its attachment to the rear cross member of the frame. It is important to lubricate the rubbing surfaces in a timely manner, as regulated by the lubrication chart.

If an accident occurs, or the car constantly experiences significant overloads, its frame suffers the most of all units. In some especially loaded areas of the frame the following appear:

  • cracks;
  • distortions;
  • bends;
  • displacement of fingers and brackets;
  • many other damages requiring its repair.

During intensive use of the vehicle on uneven sections of dirt roads, the rivet and bolt connections of the front spring brackets are necessarily weakened.

To carry out maintenance on the UAZ-469 frame, you should thoroughly clean it of dirt, dust, oil, and corrosion. It is necessary to carefully check the condition by external inspection:

  • longitudinal spars;
  • crossbars;
  • brackets;
  • welded, riveted, bolted connections.

It is imperative to periodically carefully inspect the left longitudinal beam of the frame in the area where the steering housing is attached to ensure there are no cracks. Any crack is fraught with irreversible consequences.

It is very important to monitor the condition of the painted surface of the frame and promptly touch up places where the paint layer is damaged.

The total length of the entire structure is 3,760 mm. The width of the UAZ 469 frame, its front part is 700 mm. The wide rear part of the frame is 1,005 mm wide.

Tire sizes recommended for installation by the manufacturer

It’s worth noting right away that the UAZ-452 is equipped with 15- or 16-inch wheels at the factory. The manufacturer recommends installing tires with dimensions 225/75/R16 or 235/74/R15 on the “Loaf”.

“Foreign” tires on a UAZ

Only Mud Terrain class tires can give unlimited confidence to the owner of an SUV.

These tires were originally developed to overcome the most difficult off-road areas, although it is not prohibited to drive them on regular roads. Efficiency in a variety of off-road conditions, enough traction to overcome mud and fords, prevent flooding, durability and performance at any air pressure - that's what avid hunters, fishermen and off-road enthusiasts love about Mud Terrain tires.

Rubber for mud use

Among the requirements for choosing tires for use on bad roads are the following:

  • well developed lower part;
  • weight not exceeding the weight of the vehicle;
  • permissible width no more than 250 mm;
  • reasonable price;
  • tire sidewalls resistant to external influences.

Some models can be considered modern only according to certain indicators. Thus, the Ya-192 model has good trousers. Among the balanced specimens the following can be distinguished:

  1. "I-502". It has many advantages: low noise level, good handling on any road and low rolling resistance in good road conditions. This model has decent resistance to mechanical damage.
  2. "I-506". It is characterized by good resistance to longitudinal displacement and excellent directional stability. It has a low noise level and, in addition, allows you to screw in spikes for the winter. The only drawback is that the wheel is somewhat stiff.
  3. "I-520". Another worthy representative of tires on UAZ. This tubeless model allows the car to grip the road with confidence and move in a variety of conditions. The noise of the tires does not exceed the noise of the transmission. This tire has good self-cleaning properties, which is very important for off-road tires. You can easily select snow chains for this model.
  4. A relatively new model is “Ya471”. The tire provides a smooth ride, as if swallowing small irregularities. Provides good directional stability and low noise levels. The tire performs well not only on dirty roads, but also on sand. Among the criticisms of this model is the difficult balancing.
  5. An excellent tire for bad roads is the Y192 type tire. This is one of the best tires for gravel driving. However, this model is a little noisy on asphalt and does not have a smooth ride.
  6. "I409". This UAZ tire is suitable for use at any time of the year. This model copes well off-road, but also feels good on snowy roads. On clear ice the performance is a little worse, but the car can be handled while driving.
  7. The Ya358 model is primarily intended for installation on the front drive axle. This double-ply tire is not very fast. However, it works great on rough roads, except in boggy areas where it is capable of self-cutting.

Pressure indicators

Maintaining tire pressure levels not only affects tire tread wear, but also the performance of the entire vehicle. An important note is that tire pressure settings should be checked when the tires are cold. After a short run, the monitored parameter may deviate from the norm by 2-3 tenths.

The recommended pressure for off-road tires on the front wheels is 1.7 atmospheres for tires with the index (Yaroslavl) and 1.9 for other manufacturers. For the rear tires, the tire pressure is set similarly - 2.2 for Yaroslavl tires and 2.4 - 2.5 for tires from other manufacturers.

It's no secret that certain body parts are easier to replace than to properly repair. So, if these are attached parts of the car body, then after a serious accident their repair will cost a much larger amount of money than the purchase. One of the leading Russian manufacturers, called Nachalo, sells body parts on the used market. Every year this concern produces about 500 thousand components for most car brands. As a rule, the material for the manufacture of most body parts is CCP (cold rolled steel from thin sheets of steel). It is noteworthy that to obtain an optimal set of elements with standard body components, a special technique based on geometric modeling is used. When receiving body parts, high-precision milling machines equipped with modern program control are used. In turn, this affects the quality - accuracy is ensured and the production time of equipment is reduced. For the purpose of control, it is customary to carry out multiple diagnostic stages. The parts are dried in a chamber where a temperature of 180 degrees Celsius is provided.
