Daf XF 105 is the flagship car of the manufacturer. But at the same time, it is no longer considered a new product on the truck market. The tractor was presented back in 2005, and it is still in great demand. After the presentation, the same tractor was awarded with various awards more than once, including winning the main prize in the Truck of the Year competition. Daf 105 first appeared in Russia in 2006.
Daf HF 105 was created to replace Daf HF 95, which was produced until 2007. It turns out that the parallel production of trucks of the 105th and 95th families lasted a little more than one year, until the production of the old version of Daf tractors ended. The description of the new model includes a number of changes. Under the hood of the truck, new installations have appeared that meet Euro-5 and Euro-4 standards. For comparison, Daf 95 installations complied with Euro-3. In 2013, the engine of the 105th model was improved to comply with Euro-6 standards. Daf HF 95, produced previously, could not meet Euro-3 requirements. This became the prerequisite for the creation of the updated XF105 model, which meets Euro 5 standards in terms of the amount of harmful content in emissions. The new version of the Daf HF 105 is equipped with a six-cylinder 12.9-liter PACCAR MX turbodiesel engine, with power ranging from 410 to 460 or 510 horsepower.
The Daf 105 is equipped with a 12-speed or 16-speed manual transmission. There are also models with automatic transmission. To improve cross-country ability, a drive axle with wheel gears is installed on the tractor.
Modifications
The car brands in question are two almost completely identical cars, visually similar to each other.
The only noticeable difference is the saddle height. For the 410 model it is 1,140 mm, for the 460 it is 1,150 mm.
The most important differences lie inside the trucks - these are engine types, which differ significantly in their power and, accordingly, other parameters:
- XF 105.410 – PACCAR MX300 410 l. With.;
- XF 105.460 – MX ATe EcoDrive 460 l. With.
The number of required refueling tanks of the models differs quite significantly, as well as fuel consumption for every 100 km of travel - the total amount of horsepower affects it.

The PACCAR MX300 type engine is extremely environmentally friendly. Thanks to the use of modern technologies, it fully complies with the tolerance standards of the following standards:

Design Features
Every year it becomes more and more difficult to grasp the nuances of behavior on the road and the optional equipment of the mainline tractors of the European Big Seven. While maintaining several family features and experimenting in the field of design and interior, all major manufacturers offer cars that are very similar in equipment and set of properties.
The differences become visible later, during long-term operation, when, in addition to convenience, design and controllability, the cost of ownership becomes an important indicator of efficiency. In a short test, you can only examine the features of a particular design and behavior, which this time puzzled me a little. So, a tractor with a 462 hp engine. and manual gearbox. Everything is familiar and ordinary: range, divider, flag and toggle switch, 16 gears. A durable construction trailer, therefore a little heavy, but an empty semi-trailer.
You can easily get going even from third gear, then I turn on IV, accelerate confidently, flag up, toggle switch down - I’m ready to move to the top row. And what is it? Fifth gear is too high, I would say sky-high! The revolutions drop to 800 min-1, an acute lack of torque is clearly felt, seconds pass, the tractor pulls out, but this is not a loaded road train! I'll try again. I crank the engine up to 2000 in fourth gear, the fairly clear selectivity of the gearbox drive and small efforts on the lever in combination with a light clutch allow me to switch almost instantly, and again, although smaller, the gap remains. And then everything goes like clockwork: the performance levels out and confident acceleration continues.
To be honest, I couldn’t fully understand where the error lies. Either an incorrect selection of the gear ratio of IV, V gears or a high “ratio” of the main pair of 2.69; or they “squeezed” the engine too much in pursuit of reducing toxicity, because in 2009, I remember, it was a modest fourth environmental class.
Chassis
The chassis of the truck in question has the following parameters:
- wheelbase size, m – 3.8;
- rear overhang size, m – 0.99 m;
- spar: height, mm – 260; thickness, mm – 6 mm;
- fuel tank capacity, l – 850;
- AdBlue tank capacity, l – 100.
Despite the fact that the internal reinforcement of the side members is completely absent, the truck can easily transfer loads on the axles and other load-bearing structures of the body, even if they exceed the nominal ones by 5-10%.
This is possible thanks to the high-strength alloy steel used to manufacture these chassis components.
Strength is also affected by the closed profile present between the main strength elements. Its length is approximately 60 cm.
All components have a standard arrangement. So, the muffler and both batteries are located on the right side of the body. The exhaust pipe is on the left.
The fuel tank is made of aluminum, which completely eliminates corrosion and the formation of gaps in it over time under the influence of salt present on the road in winter.
For convenience, plastic mudguards are attached to the chassis. Their width is large enough to avoid excessive contamination of the body and windows, which significantly adds comfort when driving in the rain.
Cost of DAF XF105 tractor
The new DAF XF105 is offered by dealers in 2022 at prices starting from 6,450,000 rubles. On the secondary car market, used cars of this model are offered at different prices, from 1,200,000 rubles (2007 onwards)
An important feature of the robust DAF 105 XF chassis, made from high-grade steel, is its exceptional strength combined with a relatively low weight, which has a positive effect on the payload. The XF105 features a completely flat, rigid chassis. It is made this way specifically to become an excellent basis for any type of superstructure.
The height of the cabin to the ceiling above the engine compartment is 1 m75 cm in the Space Cab version and 2 m10 cm in the Super Space Cab. There is a special functional device for towels. The founder of the company was Hubert van Doorn. Using the patronage and investment of Arnold Hugens, manager of the brewery, for whom he repaired a car, van Doorn set up his business in a small workshop at the factory.
