Purpose and scope of application

GA3-SA3-Z507 is designed for transportation and mechanized unloading of various agricultural (grain, silage, manure) and fine-bulk (sand, expanded clay, crushed stone) cargo along public roads, as well as dirt and field roads.

In the operating manual for dump trucks of this model, the manufacturer specifically notes that GA3-SA3-Z507 is NOT intended for transporting concrete mixtures and mortars, or for working in quarries. Transportation and unloading of large-sized indivisible cargo, hard rocks and the like is also called unacceptable - leading to breakdowns of the components and mechanisms of the dump truck and (or) to its overturning. History of creation

GAZ 3507 is one of the latest developments of the Gorky Automobile Plant (production began in 1984). The model was considered as a replacement for the GAZ 3307, the production of which ended in 1994. Engineers at the Gorky Automobile Plant decided to unify the models as much as possible by unit, which ensured the reliability of the design and reduced development costs. As a result, the GAZ 3507 retained most of the components from its predecessor, including a large hooded cabin and angular contours. The interior of the cabin has been redesigned, improving the heating and ventilation systems. There are new floor mats in the interior. GAZ 3507 received a completely redesigned rear frame of shorter length. The tow hooks have been replaced with a towing device, and the spare wheel has been moved rearward by 272 mm. The changes also affected the line of power units.

It is noteworthy that the GAZ 3507 was considered as a transitional model, which was later supposed to be replaced by a diesel version with greater efficiency. In the 1990s, the Gorky Automobile Plant began producing its own engines for cars, but after the collapse of the USSR, the enterprise was gripped by a crisis, as a result of which the production of engines and cars (gasoline GAZ 3507 and diesel GAZ 3507-01, GAZ 35071) sharply decreased.

However, production of the model did not stop completely. Moreover, in 2003, the Saransk Automobile Plant revived the car by creating a new version of the GAZ 35072, the basis for which was the GAZ 3309 model, equipped with a Belarusian D-245 diesel unit. The car became more economical than its predecessor and was practically not inferior to it in terms of technical characteristics. GAZ 35072 also retained the design of the original version. The carrying capacity of the machine was 4250 kg (only one-sided unloading was allowed).

In 2009, production of gasoline versions of the GAZ 3507 ended. The release of other models is currently ongoing.

Modifications

Supplied under the designation GAZ-SAZ-35071, the dump truck is equipped with a diesel power unit. The increase in engine weight led to an increase in the total weight of the car, which reached 8090 kg. Early releases used a 125-horsepower MMZ D-245.7 unit, which was later replaced by a 135- or 149-horsepower YaMZ-534 engine. A 3-seater cabin is used as standard, but a 5-seater 2-row unit can be used.

The variant version of GAZ-SAZ-35072-10 is distinguished by the design of the platform lift, which allows only one-sided unloading to the rear. Overframe device

The overframe device for mounting a dump cargo platform is made in the form of 3 separate units: front and rear beams, plus an overframe.

The front beam is a hollow beam made of bent metal profile. Two brackets for installing rubber buffers are welded to the upper plane of the beam, and brackets for attaching it to the car frame are welded to the lower plane. At the ends of the beam, using side plates, the support axes of the front support brackets of the platform are welded, as well as the mounting brackets for the front side light and side protection.

The subframe is a welded frame structure that is bolted to the vehicle frame. It consists of two longitudinal beams, which are connected by cross members. A hydraulic cylinder support with a support heel is welded to the crossbars. Here, using four bolts and a mounting cover, the lower ball joint of the hydraulic cylinder is installed. There is a safety stop on the left longitudinal beam of the subframe - for fixing the platform raised back. There are also rubber buffers on the subframe.

The rear beam is also made of a rectangular profile. Support brackets and supports are welded to its upper plane, with which the rear rotating bearings of the platform interact, and brackets 16 are welded to the side and lower planes for attaching this beam to the car frame. Working with a dump body

The hydraulic system of the dump truck GA3-SA3-Z507 is controlled by two levers - the power take-off control lever and the control valve lever. These levers are located in the cockpit, to the right of the gear lever. The control valve lever also has 2 positions: “lowering” and “neutral”. The control valve is three-valve, ball type.

Unloading backwards is carried out with a smooth movement of the vehicle forward one and a half/two meters in order to prevent the tailgate from resting on the dumped cargo. It is not recommended to accelerate unloading through sudden jerks of the platform or sudden movements of the dump truck itself.

After making repairs related to the removal of components and parts of the hydraulic system of the dump truck, you should remove air from the hydraulic system: make several lifts of the empty platform in a row. To flush the hydraulic system, the manufacturer recommends using only low-viscosity oil; gasoline or kerosene - not recommended.

You cannot drive with the body raised, with the power take-off switched on, and without securing the platform with all 4 latches. You cannot increase the sides of the cargo platform additionally to increase its volume by more than ten cubic meters.

The engine determines many of the performance characteristics of the GAZ-SAZ-3507. Engine parameters and chassis design

The GAZ-SAZ-35071 dump truck is equipped with a power unit of the D-245.7 E3 model, manufactured at the Minsk Motor Plant.

The engine is an in-line four-stroke unit with turbocharging. During operation, direct fuel injection and a cooling system are used.

The diesel engine provides an output of 87.5 kW of power. The highest torque of 413 Nm is provided at a crankshaft speed of 1500 rpm. The crankshaft can rotate at a maximum speed of 2400 rpm.

According to tests, the specific fuel consumption in the GAZ-SAZ-35071 car at a speed of 60 km/h is no more than 14 l/100 km.

Together with the engine, movement is provided by a gearbox that can accelerate the car to a maximum speed of 90 km/h. The gearbox has 5 speed shift stages and mechanical control.

In the chassis of the GAZ-SAZ-35071 model, the rear axle is driven, and the front axle is driven. The chassis includes a dependent leaf spring suspension. Telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers are located on the front axle.

The braking system is dual-circuit, with drum mechanisms installed on all 4 wheels. Steering drive unit - without power steering.

Dumping device for loading platform

The loading platform of the GA3-SA3-Z507 dump truck is raised and tipped using a hydraulic cylinder 3507-01-8603010-01. It is telescopic, single-acting, with three retractable plunger links. The total stroke of the links is 695 mm. The tipping mechanism lifts and lowers the platform, stopping it in any intermediate position; The pressure limit in the hydraulic system is no more than 115 - 120 kgf/cm2.

The lower and upper ball joints of the hydraulic cylinders are located in the centers of the lower part of the body and subframe. The desired tipping side is selected by the driver by releasing the removable hinge pins at the base of the platform. If the stall is to the left, the driver releases the two right hinges; right - vice versa; if the stall is rear, then two front ones.

Energy is transferred from the engine to the platform raising mechanism using a power take-off controlled by a lever from the cab. The power take-off is mechanical, single-speed, combined with a pump and control valve. The PTO lever has two locking positions: “lift” and “neutral”. The hydraulic system filling capacity holds 16 liters. An NSh-32U-3 oil pump is placed on the power take-off housing, and behind the cab, between the frame and the body, there is an oil tank made of thin stamped steel sheets.

Chassis

All versions of the GAZ 3507 are built on a 4 by 2 wheel arrangement. In terms of design, the series is almost complete analogues of its predecessor, the GAZ 3307. The basis of the car is a stamped frame shortened by 152 mm. The side spars, trimmed at the rear, were reduced in size. The developers also abandoned the stern crossbar.

The front suspension is equipped with double-sided hydraulic telescopic shock absorbers and is mounted on 4 longitudinal semi-elliptical springs. The rear suspension uses a similar design, but the shock absorbers here have additional springs. In the basic configuration, the GAZ 3507 is equipped with 20-inch wheels and pneumatic tires.

STORY

In Soviet times, the Gorky Automobile Plant was considered one of the main manufacturers of medium-duty trucks. After the collapse of the USSR, the company lost its position, but some models of the brand remain in high demand on the market.

GAZ 3507 is one of the latest products of the Gorky Automobile Plant. Production of the car started in 1984. The well-proven GAZ 3307 was used as the basis for its creation. The model was a great success in the Union republics, but by the beginning of the 1980s it began to become obsolete. The developers wanted to create a new model at minimal cost and preserve the advantages of its predecessor. As a result, the priority became maximum unification of elements and nodes. Many units and parts of the GAZ 3307 were “migrated” into the design of the GAZ 3507, which made it possible to significantly save on the development process. The design has remained virtually unchanged. GAZ 3507 received the cabin of its predecessor with a large hood, standard angular shapes and a large radiator grille. The cabin of the new series has become larger and has improved heating and ventilation systems.

The GAZ 3507 differed from the previous version by a rear frame shortened by 152 mm. Changes in appearance were minimal. The spare wheel has moved 272 mm back. The towing hooks used in the GAZ 3307 were replaced with a towing device. The casing and floor mats have been completely changed. The remaining elements have been preserved in the same format.

Transformations took place in the engine line. GAZ 3507 was considered as a transitional series, which was supposed to be replaced by a more economical and modern model. To achieve this goal, in the early 1990s, the Gorky Automobile Plant opened the production of its own engines, but after the collapse of the USSR, the enterprise was gripped by a severe crisis. As a result, car production decreased noticeably, and the transitional model is still available on the market today.

Initially, the new series consisted of 2 modifications: GAZ 3507 (a dump truck based on the GAZ 3307 with a ZMZ-5231 gasoline engine, a load capacity of 4.13 tons and a body volume of 5 cubic meters) and GAZ 35071 (a diesel variation with similar characteristics). In 1989, a new generation of GAZ 3307 was introduced, on the basis of which modifications GAZ 3507-01 and GAZ 35072 were created.

The series expanded in the 2000s. After the appearance of the GAZ 3309 chassis, the premiere of the new version of the GAZ 35071 took place. However, truck sales continued to decline.

In 2003, the Saransk Automobile Plant tried to revive the series and launched the GAZ 35072. The model was based on the GAZ 3309 chassis with the Belarusian D-245 diesel unit. The car had a 4.5 cubic meter body, one-sided unloading and had a load capacity of 4.25 tons. Compared to other versions of the GAZ 3507, the new product was much more economical and required 14 liters of fuel per 100 km, practically not inferior in power and traction to the classic version. In terms of design, the GAZ 35072 was no different from the base model.

In 2009, production of gasoline modifications ended.

GAZ 3507 remains in demand in the domestic market. The production of the series on a small scale continues to this day.
