Operation and maintenance of MAZ 5340M4, 5550M4, 6312M4 batteries (Mercedes, Euro-6).

Troubleshooting wiring

Troubleshooting in the operation of electrical circuits must begin with the diagnosis of contact parts.

To check the operation of the contacts, it is necessary to carefully diagnose the power lines that include the system block. You can use different methods to accomplish this task:

Diagnostic methods:

  • visual check of the integrity of contact elements;
  • diagnostics of power lines using a tester - a multimeter - which allows you to check the resistance level;
  • diagnostics of reliability and integrity of contact elements of circuits.

When diagnosing, you need to pay attention to high-voltage cables. They perform an important function, since they help ensure the operation of all non-volatile devices

But the wires themselves are located in an environment that is dangerous for their operation.

“Symptoms” of malfunctions in the operation of high-voltage cables:

  • When the radio is operating, noises are heard that are not typical for the operation of the radio;
  • while driving, the vehicle begins to twitch;
  • fuel consumption increases;
  • the power unit “chokes” when driving at low speeds, it does not have enough power to gain speed;
  • the level of toxicity of exhaust gases has increased.

When diagnosing high-voltage wires, the following features must be taken into account:

  1. The black contact of the multimeter must be connected to the left hole.
  2. The red contact is placed in the middle of the cable section.
  3. The tester is activated in the resistance parameter measurement mode.
  4. The tester probes are short-circuited.
  5. If after these steps the device screen shows that the resistance level is zero, then the high-voltage cables are working.
  6. If the diagnostics showed the number 1, then the resistance value is higher than normal. Accordingly, the cable is damaged and it is time to replace it.

Starter device

Often, chainsaw manufacturers equip their units with starters that work on almost the same principle, namely: in a groove in the saw body there is a handle through which the cord is passed. When the handle is suddenly lifted, the cord is also pulled out, which engages the ratchet drum. Thus, a drum with spokes, which is located on the shaft, is activated. At this time, the crankshaft makes several revolutions, leading to compression of the fuel mixture, which at this moment is between the cylinder head and the piston. When the handle is lowered, on the contrary, the ratchet and the pins lose their contact, which leads to the shaft stopping.

The design and principle of operation of a chainsaw starter

As the power of the chainsaw increases, the amount of fuel mixture increases, which must ignite when the chainsaw is started. In this case, to start the engine, it is necessary to increase the number of pulls on the starter cord. To speed up the return of the drum mechanism, manufacturers use a special steel starter return spring, which has excellent elasticity.

Chainsaw starter spring

If the spring breaks, you must: remove the mechanism cage, pull out the spring, fixing its upper part with your finger and slightly pulling the starter handle to the side

Then, wind the new part, while avoiding kinks and twisting of the new spring element, then carefully fix the clip

How to choose a replacement battery

First you need to select the appropriate batteries to replace the old ones. Here you should start from the parameters of standard batteries, since batteries that are too large or capacious may simply not fit in the compartment provided for their placement and connection.

Experts recommend paying attention to the following characteristics:

  • capacity from 190 Ah to 220 Ah, if it is planned to connect additional consumers;
  • starting current in the range from 1150 to 1250 A, which is quite enough even for operation in difficult conditions and in severe frosts;
  • overall dimensions may be slightly larger than a standard battery and be about 513x223x223 mm;
  • the polarity is straight cargo, that is, the plus should be on the right side;
  • European standard size.

In some cases, reverse polarity also occurs. But this is quite rare.

Just look into the battery compartment and see which side is the plus and which is the minus. If the minus is on the left and the plus is on the right, then the polarity is straight. If it’s the other way around, then you have an option with reverse polarity.

DIY turn relay

Sometimes situations arise when the standard turn signal relay fails and it is not possible to purchase a new device. In such a situation, you can try to make a turn signal relay with your own hands to provide the car with the necessary signals. The simplest electronic devices that you can create yourself are simple and easy to use, operate smoothly and reliably. High accuracy is achieved through the use of PWM controllers used in all circuits.

The simplest replacement for an electromagnetic relay is designed for a maximum load power of 150 W. It is connected to the positive terminal. If the IRFZ44 field switch is replaced with the IRF3205 model, then 200 W can be connected. This simple circuit ensures high accuracy of operation. The blinking frequency does not depend on the power of the light bulbs, so LED, halogen and other lamps can be included in the circuit.

Offered range

In addition to the already presented original battery, various analogues can be purchased to replace batteries on MAZ trucks and buses.

The following battery models are worth considering as worthy replacement options:

It is first recommended to study the characteristics of the batteries that are currently on the MAZ vehicle and must be replaced. This will allow you to determine the required characteristics as accurately as possible and not make a mistake in your choice.
