The classic model of the base tractor “BELARUS” MTZ-82.1 has undergone a number of upgrades and the production line has launched a new modification for 2022. The changes affected both the main technical components and systems, the design itself, and the design and ergonomics. The machine has become much more convenient for the driver; the hood completely covers the working components of the engine from dirt and water.
The configuration of the rear wings has also changed, which protect the lower door windows from splashing dirt, providing a constant good view. The length of the body has decreased by almost 200 mm. The top headlights are protected by a metal mesh; additional lights have appeared above the hood for more efficient operation in conditions of poor visibility or in the dark. Instead of two, there are three yellow warning lights on the roof.
The size of the side rear view mirrors has been increased. The location of the steering wheel has become much more convenient, the visibility of the instrument panel is better, and all controls have become more ergonomic. MTZ rolled out its newest tractors under the Christmas tree
We found three of the latest models in an improvised “reindeer team” of BELARUS tractors, which appeared near the New Year tree on the MTZ factory site.
In 2022, the Minsk Tractor Plant seriously modernized its most popular and best-selling models - 82 and 1221. The updated machines changed in appearance and received new indices - BELARUS-82.3 and BELARUS-1222. Both machines have already been demonstrated at specialized exhibitions, but on New Year’s Eve the tractor manufacturers put the new products on public display.
This is what the “eighty deuce” has become – the new cladding and modern lighting technology (working lights are LED) immediately catch your eye. But the model has changed not only externally - the tractor has undergone a deep modernization.
The designers abandoned the mechanical drive of the front drive axle - now it includes a hydraulically controlled multi-plate friction clutch operating in oil. This replacement made it possible to increase the reliability of the transmission - now the front axle is able to withstand increased load.
Improved control of the gearbox (synchronized, with an increased number of gears 18x18, with the installation of reverse and reduction gearboxes). Thanks to the installation of a LUK clutch (cermet disc), the force on the clutch pedal is reduced. The brake system has been modernized (works in an oil bath).
In the design of the rear power take-off shaft, the control band brakes were also replaced with a multi-disc friction clutch, which not only ensured high PTO durability, but also increased the power transmitted through it. The lifting capacity of the rear linkage has been increased to 3400 kg.
By moving the hydraulic valve back, it was possible to seal the front wall of the cab, reduce noise and vibration from the engine and, accordingly, increase operator comfort. The cable control of the distributor is now in a more convenient area, and the connection of hydraulic outlets has also become more convenient. In addition, a new towing device was introduced.
The front wall of the cabin was reinforced (it is welded with glued glass) to achieve safety requirements according to the standard of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). A new muffler was installed under the hood with a pipe outlet to the cab pillar - thereby reducing vibration and improving visibility for the driver. The 84-horsepower diesel engine MMZ D-243S2 meets the environmental requirements of the Stage II standard.
A new air-suspended seat, a new instrument panel with a color LCD display and a side control panel for tractor components and systems were installed in the cab. Lever controls were replaced with push-button ones (control of the rear PTO and FDA). Electrically controlled rear-view mirrors appeared.
Already in the basic package there is a USB charger, a cigarette lighter, a radio, and an air conditioner (climate control can be installed as an option). The reverse gear makes it easy to control the tractor during shuttle operations, in particular when working with a front loader.
And this is what BELARUS-1222 looks like. It not only has a new cladding with more advanced lensed lighting technology, but also a new cabin with panoramic windows. It is more spacious and comfortable, and features a wider door opening for easier operator access.

BELARUS-1222 was equipped with an electro-hydraulic mounted system, which was previously installed only on more powerful tractors - it provides ease of control, in addition, it is self-diagnosis.
Modification 1222.3 is equipped with a 136-horsepower MMZ D-260.2S2 diesel engine that meets the Stage II standard. The 1222.4 modification will be equipped with a Stage IIIa D-260.2S3A engine. Both engines feature direct fuel injection, turbocharging and intercooling, and both are equipped with an efficient cooling system for various operating conditions. Tractors are equipped with a disk PTO; automatic engagement of the front driving axle and differential locking are provided.
Another new product under the Christmas tree is the BELARUS-2022 tractor with an updated design and a 215-horsepower Cummins QSB6.7 215 diesel engine (in-line six with direct fuel injection, turbocharging and intercooler, Stage III). This machine is intended primarily for the Russian market. The engine is manufactured in Naberezhnye Chelny at CUMMINS KAMA CJSC, therefore it is considered a Russian engine.
