Two-stage

The two-stage type of snow removal machines includes auger-rotor and milling-rotor units. The main difference between them is the design of the feeding mechanism, which cuts the snow mass and feeds it into the snow thrower.

Rotary auger snow removal units are currently very popular in Russia. They are mounted on cars and trucks, on tractors and special chassis. They are designed for raking snow piles left by other types of snow removal machines and loading the snow mass into trucks using a special chute. How to make it yourself

To make a blade, you need tools and equipment that are available in every home workshop.

To work you will need:

  • welding machine;
  • Bulgarian;

  • paint brush.

To make a blade for an UAZ with your own hands, drawings should be prepared for 4 components of this product: an installation device, a subframe, a knife and a lifting mechanism.

The work sequence is as follows:

  1. Making a shovel. It is cut out of the barrel, half or a third of it is used. Along the perimeter and in the middle, the workpiece is reinforced with a steel angle, which is welded or screwed to it. The width of the shovel can be in the range of 100-200 cm, and the height - 40-80 cm. A knife made of a 100x20 mm steel strip or a cut tire is installed on the lower part.
  2. Installation kit. It can be central or frontal type. It is preferable to choose the second type, which is more durable and reliable and allows you to evenly distribute the load across the shovel frame. 2 brackets are made from a profile pipe with eyes for fastening. A rotation mechanism is provided.
  3. Stretcher. Made from durable metal. Designs are made of removable or stationary type. Removable mounts are attached to the bumper, while stationary mounts are rigidly screwed to the car frame.
  4. Lift. To adjust the height above the ground, a standard or separately purchased electric winch is used. A simpler solution is a manual winch, but you will have to leave the cab to lift it. The simplest option is to attach steel skis with level adjustment to the shovel.

After the individual components are manufactured, they are assembled and installed on the machine.

Buy or make it yourself?

To make snow removal quick and easy, all parts of the attachment must be of high quality and durable. Some ATV owners prefer to make blades with their own hands, but it is more advisable to purchase additional equipment, which is explained by several reasons.

The bucket of a purchased dump is usually made of a sheet of steel with a thickness of about 2-2.5 mm or more. It will be difficult to bend such material correctly at home. The metal is coated with a protective layer of paint, which is baked at high temperatures. It adheres firmly to the surface without collapsing under the influence of mechanical and other adverse influences. A layer of paint reliably protects the metal from corrosion.

At home, it is impossible to paint the metal of a ladle so well. Therefore, it will be constantly damaged during snow removal operations. At least once a season you will need to paint it again to avoid corrosion.

Purchased attachments are manufactured in accordance with current standards and have a number of additional functions, therefore they have a significant service life. If you create such products with your own hands, you will not be able to achieve the same high quality. For this reason, it is better to opt for a reliable purchased blade made by a trusted manufacturer.

How to secure

The fastening device is the most complex and critical part of the entire blade design. The shovel is mounted on the frame using brackets made from straightened springs or profile pipes. It should be borne in mind that such a factory-made mechanism can cost 10,000 rubles or more. Therefore, it is advisable to do it yourself and spend the saved money on purchasing components.

A simple option is the central holder, which is assembled in the following sequence:

  1. Welding a profile pipe to the back of the shovel.
  2. Fastening a semicircle made of steel sheet to a stiffener rib.
  3. Drilling holes in a semicircle.
  4. Making an L-shaped holder.
  5. Attaching the holder to the semicircular base with a central swivel bolt.
  6. Attaching the device to the car frame.

Self-production

The production of products for heavy equipment is available only in factory conditions. A simpler model for a walk-behind tractor or SUV can be made by a moderately skilled home craftsman.

Make a side out of the board. It will become the basis for fixing the plywood and cuttings. The side should be rounded. Place marks on the sides - 5 cm from the edge. Then use a plane to carefully trim the edges until you get the perfect shape. Then sand the part with sandpaper.

Then use a hacksaw to make a hole for the handle on the flat side. The width of the hole should be equal to the thickness of the holder, and for depth you need to add another 5 mm.

Factory option

There is no need to reinvent the wheel; it is much easier to find out how to make a dump for a UAZ from the manufacturers. It will most likely not be possible to completely copy factory suspended plows, but it is quite possible to take some models as a basis. What not to do

Now about why the blade had to be repaired, this nuance should be taken into account by absolutely everyone who wants to make a blade for the Niva with their own hands, the fact is that with short rods of the blade to the Niva, you risk getting this kind of embarrassment

The car is fine, the skirt is a little wrinkled. but the blade got it and broke off the long rod. Acceleration was in third gear. on a reduction gear, I wanted to break through a packed pile of snow, in general I suffered from garbage. It turned out this way because the shorter rod (the right one) was slightly shortened after a minor repair (on the same day).

The blade successfully served faithfully for several months, then during an impact this left link was broken off and welded literally 5 centimeters closer to the car, resulting in a short arm, and as a result, the blade went under the car.

In the photo above this is the minimum shoulder, its size is 60 cm, but it is better to make it larger to be sure that the blade will not turn down under the car in case of a strong impact.

Design

Much depends on the availability of materials and technical skills. It is more reliable and easier to make a blade without a rotating mechanism, thus saving a little on materials and significantly reducing the production time, but this will reduce its scope. On the other hand, the rotating mechanism can become the most vulnerable point of the structure; its design requires a certain margin of safety to be provided at the fixation points. The working surface of the blade also requires reinforcement; it is important to monitor the weight of individual parts. It is desirable that the blade can be mounted and dismounted by one person.

To protect the surface being cleaned, a rubber strip should be used, the fastening of which should be detachable so that the rubber can be replaced as it wears out. Where the blade is attached to the vehicle, it is worth considering a possible sharp collision of the blade with an obstacle. Mounting points should not be located in front of important parts of the vehicle.

Assembly of the structure

To create a grader on the MTZ-82, as shown in the photo, you will need steel about 8 mm thick and metal pipes with a diameter of at least 70 mm. The steel sheet is cut lengthwise closer to the edge, approximately 1/3 from the center. This will give the blade the optimal shape.

As for the width of the shovel, everyone is guided by their own preferences. Although there is one requirement - the blade should not protrude beyond the outer limits of the tractor by more than 400 mm on each side.

In order to install a tractor blade with your own hands, you must follow the following instructions:

  1. First you need to create two supports that will be connected by a metal cross member. This structure will be secured to the side members by means of a bolted connection. It is also necessary to weld plates with a stiffener and a hinge joint at the bottom to the supports.
  2. A triangular link is installed at the point where the hinges are attached by means of a welded joint, which is fixed at the bottom of the tractor frame. This will significantly increase the stability of the shovel. A hinge must be welded in front to the transverse beam that connects the supports, which is subsequently connected to the hydraulic cylinder.
  3. Afterwards, a semi-frame in the shape of a triangle is welded from two beams, and the lifting hydraulic cylinder of the tractor blade is attached to the top of it. One hinge is installed in the middle of both beams on the outer side.
  4. The grader is installed and fixed on the semi-frame using two hinges. The first hinge should be located at the level of the hydraulic cylinder mounting, and the second should be on a special support located 20 cm higher.
  5. Now you need to install and secure the hydraulic cylinders, which should preferably be positioned parallel to the subframe, since the maximum load will fall on the lower part of the blade. The blade is divided into two parts with the center on hinges located on the semi-frame. On each half, a mount for hydraulic cylinders is installed 1/3 from the center.

If you do not plan to change the position of the grader, then instead of hydraulic cylinders you can use two pipes, rigidly welded to the shovel and half-frame at the points where the hinges are attached.

Material selection

At this stage, the choice always remains with the performer; you can only advise or suggest where it is easiest to find suitable parts. Two-hundred-liter barrels have proven themselves well as material for a dump shovel, but given the planned dimensions, 2 barrels or additional reinforcement of the structure will be required. Square or rectangular pipes can be used as guides and reinforcing ribs; it is also possible to use a rolled angle, thin channel or I-beams.

For jumpers that regulate the angle of the blade, you can use lanyards or pipes of different diameters with holes for fixing fingers. When using a winch to control the lifting of the blade, additional material will be required to arrange a platform for the winch itself and a block system if necessary.

Main stages and nodes

Where to start working in order to implement the planned dump on the UAZ with your own hands? The drawings must be made taking into account the model of the SUV, and there should always be some margin in size so that possible shortcomings can be corrected on the spot. The first step is to equip the place where the structure is attached to the car. These can be either simple fixed brackets or a whole platform like a “kenguryatnik” to accommodate not only a blade, but also a winch with a block system. The platform can be made either permanently or as a removable structure, which is preferable since it does not spoil the appearance of the car.

Next, you can start making the most massive part of the dump - the working shovel. It is best to choose the dimensions from the above: 2 x 0.6-0.8 m. A blade that is too large will clear snow better, but will be inconvenient during installation and transportation. At the next stage, it is better to fix the blade in a working vertical position and thus attach the remaining elements to it. It must be remembered that even simple dumps on a UAZ without a rotating mechanism must be movable vertically, otherwise the vehicle can be seriously damaged during operation. The last step is to manufacture the control and rotating elements and attach them to the structure.

Bottom line

Definitely, using a plow for snow removal seriously saves your effort and money, but at the same time, making it yourself requires knowledge and skills in the relevant field. However, do not forget that using a homemade plow for snow removal can cause problems with the insurance company and police officers. Therefore, it is necessary to consult in this matter. Lifting mechanisms
